Also obviously hopefully speaking to soon but not convinced Jimmy over Tongue on another flat deck was the way to go.

Yea wrong decision bringing him in when Tongue was so good at Lords. Especially we’ve seen that sheer pace gets the Aussies uncomfortable with Wood. Broad, Wood, Woakes, and Tongue is a very good seam & pace outfit.

As usual the economy is great but just doesn’t seem to have that usual spark with the new ball, which doesn’t bode well for when the ball is 60 overs old.

That said, Wood hasn’t really caused many problems yet.

It does usually deteriate days 4 and 5 and take spin. Hopefully the weather allows that to happen as it looks like a 400 deck batting first innings.

Doesn't look like we'll have much play after day 3 given the weather sadly. Shame the series will likely be decided that way.

This is starting to feel a bit pointless. Needed quick wickets to have a chance of concluding this on the dry days.

Haven’t seen enough from Anderson yet to persuade me he was the right pick over Tongue.

The England team know it as well. Cricket's worst trait is the inability to extend games/change days because of weather.

Surprised the Umpre didn't give that one out - especially after he didn't give Smiths.

That looked out straight away to my untrained eye.

Mo! Some decent turn there. Very lucky those two wickets today weren’t umpires call. Both seemed like they should have been given out on field to me.

As always with this series, when a team looks like they might pull away, someone or something drags them right back in.

If we get another quick wicket then things would be looking good - especially if that wicket is Head.

It’s honestly incredible isn’t it. It’s got to the point where I’ll actually be surprised if somehow there isn’t a tense finish, despite the rain.

Two poor umpire decisions there to give the not out on the field, especially the Smith wicket.

Wow. What a fecking catch that is. Stunner. He looked as surprised as everyone else.

Woakes is such a good bowler in English conditions. Important wicket that, and one more would be great before close.

I had not seen the score since lunch. Very pleased with that. England edge the day.

Would have been nice to get those two wickets ticked off and start the day fresh tomorrow. Weather put to one side, it’s a fantastic day for England, hopefully Bairstow gets a bit of confidence for batting off the back of those catches.

A good morning tomorrow and fingers cross we start to put them under a bit of pressure tomorrow. They definitely batted like they didn’t mind a draw for big chunks of the day (bar Mitch March).

England have the edge I would say. If they can take the last two wickets quickly tomorrow get Aus all out for around 320 I think they will fancy getting a first innings lead. But it wont be a cake walk they will have to bat well someone will need to get in and go big with a few good contributions from others. There is enough to keep the Aussie seamers interested tough, reckon they may regret not picking a spinner, there is always turn and bounce at Old Trafford.

It's tight like it has been all summer so far. Hopefully the weather dosent ruin the game.

I'd say it's balanced. Maybe even slight advantage Australia because we've not been fantastic at mopping up the tail and to have 300 on the board on a pitch offering enough will be encouragement for the Aussie bowlers.

England hat firlmy on, but I don't think you can categorically call that a no ball.

The line isn’t even straight. I’m certain he’d have had at least a cm behind the line if his foot was further to the left.

Really frustrating in terms of the extra time this is taking out the game now.

Yeah the more you think about it, the more thats a BS call... your shoe extends further back then your sole.
