I don't agree with their view but a really good discussion - the Lord's segment

according to telegraph Brooks will be played as number 3. Anderson and Tongue out. Wood and Alli to play. They also say Woakes will play.

So something like that

Crawley
Duckett
Brooks
Root
Stokes
Bairstow
Alli
Woakes
Wood
Broad
Robinson

I would probably go with something like that, but I'm not sure about dropping tongue though. Thought he was excellent at lord's I would be tempted to in keep tongue in and drop/rest Robinson aswell.

Bit more variety in that attack, slightly weaker top 6 but much stronger lower order/tail to make up for it.

Yep agree with this as Stokes doesn’t have to bowl and we got variety in the attack. Only issue would be perhaps Tongue in for Broad or Robinson due to the extra pace.

Harsh on Tongue if correct. Would rather have him staying in over Robinson.

Been surprised by some of the Aussie reaction to what happened in the long room. It looks pathetic for the members and the MCC have ended up with shit on their face but beyond that it was just idiots shouting Cheat cheat etc as far as I can see.

It's great. Hopefully get some MCC toffs banned and Aussies rattled.

Harsh on Tongue and puts a lot of faith in Moeen batting too which I don't see

Literally a massive review of English cricket called it as having systemic racism and the only cricketer with subcontinental heritage in the test was singled out by some generational wealth twat…

The last thing I want to do is defend the wankers in the long room who likely are all massive racist dickheads - but Khawaja has not made any allegation of racism, and said he stopped as he AND his team-mates were taking to much over the top stick for cheating etc.

Was he the only one signalled out or the only one who reacted? Genuine question because I haven't seen the video.

Do we know what was said?

The other option for England from the squad would be to push everyone up a place and have Ali at 7 and Woakes at 8 to deepen the batting a bit further then add 3 bowlers after that. That way it takes the pressure off Stokes to bowl as well.

In theory I like this but I'm sceptical about Ali's mindset to bat at 7. He always underperformed with that bat at Test level even during his peak despite his obvious ability, and my memory of his last few years has just been him coming in down the order, teeing off, and inevitably getting out pretty quickly. It might come off under Bazball but at 7 I'd want him to try and play a slightly more measured innings. Otherwise it's a long tail and he's just a slightly better Stuart Broad but coming in at 7. Woakes is a decent safety net though.

If anything properly untoward was said as intimated by Mariachi it would have come out by now, the likely story is he is the only one who stopped or reacted 1st and how could anyone who was saying anything know that would be the case, it's pretty lazily putting 2+2 in my view, unless of course the Aussies claim otherwise but that would have happened by now surely we are days out from the incident

He stopped of his own accord and wasn’t singled out, every single player copped it walking through there.

I know the other poster is desperate to stir up shit, I have no idea if he’s actually Australian, but I’d suggest Khawaja probably has more concerns about being racially abused in his own country than here, as he’s said in interviews multiple times.

Well that's what I asked if there was any evidence to suggest anything abusive let alone racist was said out there. You have for some reason constantly implied that there was by doing 2+2 but haven't seen or heard a thing yet

Doubt they drop Tongue

Tongue is probably being rested because he had significant injury issues and they probably want to be cautious after losing so many fast bowlers

Mahmood with a re-occurrence of his back injury today - nightmare. Poor bloke.

I think you are dreaming if you think getting shouted at by toffs will rattle Australia in any way.

Do I think it keeps Cummins and co up at night? Nah.

Do I think it might wind them up a bit when Headingley starts? Defo!

They still all moan that Smith gets booed ffs.

England should not move Stokes from 5, that's the perfect spot for him.

Having said that, I hope you do put him up at 3.

I'd be rattled too if three old fat posh wankers started mouthing off at me. Mainly because of the audacity of it all.

I'm guessing you haven't had a lot of dealings with Aussies, I've played plenty of cricket with and against them, they moan because they can, not because it bothers or winds them up, they don't give a flying feck!

I've seen it published in a few mainstream media places. Unless they got sucked in of course.
The names sound off to me (like what an Aussie thinks posh English names are like, rather than what they are) and I can't find any evidence of these people existing. I think it's a joke that no one is bothering to question because it's more fun to imagine it's true than risk finding out it isn't.

I agree. There are 2 possibilities. 1) they are real names, and 2) a number of mainstream media publications have fallen for a joke. I very much like both options.

At least all this ludicrous moral outrage is distracting from the report labelling English cricket as a racist, classist and sexist, old boy's club.

I can’t wait for some actual cricket again. Heckling from the crowd happens at every ground, especially in Australia, i can’t understand why it’s such a big talking point.
