Game over now. Anything under 250 is an easy chase.
I can't remember the last time spinners got 9 wickets in an innings for us. Did it happen in the Swann or Underwood days?
Panesar and Swann must have done it in the India tour that England won in 2012/13.
Edit: They took 19 of the 20 wickets in the 2nd test of that series!
Ah, it's Stokes - wants to finish this today it seems.
It was slightly tongue in cheek as he's tried to slog sweep every ball...even flinging his bat at the square leg umpire!Impossible at this stage, surely they will be off in 10 minutes.

Thanks, makes sense it was that series I guess. Still, that's a decade ago so it's not common!
Think Spinners must have gotten 9 wickets in an innings against India in Ahmedabad even with just Root and Leach.
Shows how far we’ve come for me to say this, but that “1” is really annoyingOK it’s not the greatest Pakistan side, but this is the first time they’re going to be white washed in a home series in Pakistan. For England (or any other country for that matter) to win 3-0 in Pakistan is astonishing. 9-1 record under Baz & Stokesy. AND consider where England were just 6 months ago. I must be dreaming.
Leach 15 wickets for 669 runs, at an average over 44. Economy rate nothing special compared to other England bowlers. Both Jacks' and Root's wickets cost just under 40. Ahmed 7 wickets for 137 runs, though avoided the difficult bowling conditions in the first test.
Leach's overall test bowling average is 34.5, with an economy rate of 2.97, batting average 13.03.
Dom Bess 33.97, with an economy rate of 2.93, also batting average of 22.78
Moeen Ali 36.66, economy rate 3.61, batting average 28.29
Swann 29.96, economy rate 2.98, batting average 22.09
Panesar 34.71, economy rate 2.78, batting average 4.88
The case for Leach being a regular in the test team looks very weak. Clearly we don't know how Rehan Ahmed will perform in less favourable conditions.

As I said earlier Leach is a bang average test bowler.Leach 15 wickets for 669 runs, at an average over 44. Economy rate nothing special compared to other England bowlers. Underwood's stats showed what a top class spinner can do.
Economy rate 2.10 at 25.83 and close to 300 test wickets (297). Although his batting did leave a lot to be desired (11.56).
I've got to admit that does have some truth to it. There used to be a saying that England carried Underwood like an umbrella in case of rain. However, having said that, if uncovered pitches were so difficult to bat on, how did Bradman manage to average almost 100 playing on them?Isn't that the guy who played on wet, uncovered and supportive pitches? Isn't really fair to compare ancient bowlers with those playing today.
