English cricket 2015 - NZ, The Ashes, Pak and SA

Lucky tossers.

 That's what you get for negative captaincy. Should've declared when Cook got out, instead you guys played on for 16 overs for 49 runs just to eliminate the very small possibility of loss. You have to risk losing to win Test matches.

Honestly at that point everyone was probably fast asleep

This test really annoyed me.

1. Officiating was poor, England can consider themselves unlucky.
2. Pakistan should have been batting last night.
3. A slow test exploded into life and they stopped it at the last minute and robbed the spectators because of bad light in a ground with floodlights. The ICC continues to believe the players are more important than the spectators because it would be unfair for one team to have to play under lights. Well sometimes sport isn't fair, in golf you can get a bad draw weather wise, in tennis you can get the number 1 seed first round, even in cricket losing the toss can make a huge difference. Being a good spectacle is more important or the form will die.

How Shan Masood and Imran Khan are in the team I'll never understand. Junaid Khan is 10x the bowler.

Good to have Yasir back.

Couple of wickets in the first session.

All square, I'd think.

Junaid Khan was very good for Lancashire. Can't say what he's like on these sort of pitches, mind.

One of these 2 needs to score a big 100, hopefully both will...

They'll probably be out in the next 10 mins now I've jinxed them.

Misbah hitting sixes

Good stuff from the captain & a good day for Pakistan :D

Can't say I've seen numbers quite like these before. Misbah has only two gears. Either he'll bore you to death with his blocking or he'll go berserk and smash you out of the park. He is one of a kind.

Yea there's been some silly dismissals but I think 420+ would be a high enough target to defend.

You do know test match is 2 innings per side game and we are into 1st inning, right?

No I thought each team bats 5 times.

It's pretty clear I meant defend to keep a lead for the 2nd innings.

Well it is not because the score so as to get a lead is not called 'target to defend.'

Teams that bat first defend their targets. When the opposing team bats, they bat to cut the lead of the first team. This is how cricket works.

When the first team bats again, they either bat to add to their lead, or to cut the lead of the 2nd team. Etc.

 OK, continue with your definitions.

I haven't watched the match or seen how the wicket is, but given Yasir Shah is playing in this match, 378 doesn't seem that bad a score. England have quite a few left hand players, so it will be interesting to see how they handle Yasir. Given they will bat last, a lead of at least 50 is what they will be looking for which won't be easy. I doubt any pitch can be as dead as the Abu Dhabi one for last test anyway.

Really need one of Cook or Root gone early. Only two proper batsmen in this line up.

We should be used to see England lose early wickets done it for a while now, but do need these 2 to make a 150+ partnership

On initial viewing I thought Bell got a good ball, but he should be leaving that.

No idea why he's still in the team he's been gash for 5 years with the exception of one series.

One more wicket and England will struggle. Shot players like Bairstow, Stokes and Buttler could easily be run through here.

Wahab Riaz is such an unlucky bloke.

Fancy being that good a quick but having to play half your games on blancmanges.
