English cricket 2015 - NZ, The Ashes, Pak and SA

Anderson now joint 9th on test wicket takers with 417, tied with Harbhajan.

He'll get climb the next few positions quickly. Pollock 421, Hadlee 431, Kapil Dev 434.

Well deserved.

Would be hard to pick him ahead of any of those three, but damn, that'd be a decent bowling lineup. Harbhajan & those four

If we can get either of these out before lunch... Would be huge.

Dale Steyn hot on their heels too. Anderson is certainly no Steyn, but take out the insanely shoddy start where he was too quickly thrown in for a desperate attempt at creating a youthful option in the attack....and his stats hold up very well just behind the absolute elite.

Steyn is my god at the moment. His bowling face is one stuck between agony & orgasm.

If fitness holds up, both Steyn and Anderson can reach close to 500 which will be fitting and deserved. Walsh and McGrath were very fit and played well past 35 and hence have 500+ wickets. It is long way to go for both of these to reach McGrath but reaching Walsh is possible.

I think thats a fair enough decision, but I'm really not sure they actually have the right to do that.

That review was confusing, but I think they got the right decision?!

So important these two bat out the day. I was worried about a collapse before on this concrete pitch, I'm still worried now :nervous:

If England hadn't fecked around for most of yesterday but in particular after Cook got out we might actually have a game here.

There's enough time for England to win this.

That was an absolute fecking farce.

If you're going to look at it again do it at the time not 5 minutes later.

Fading light and chasing victories in Pakistan (kind of), brings back some memories.

Am I right in saying it's the umpires call now regarding bad light? The English batsmen can't choose to stay out themselves if Pakistan start bowling bouncer after bouncer.

Not enough time for England to chase a target of 100. 10 overs at max they will get I think with the light fading.

Yes, they were saying on Sky just now that the reading they took yesterday means we've probably got about 40 minutes left.

So with the change of innings about half an hour to chase 99.

99 to get... At least we finally have something interesting in this game.

Knew Pakistan would collapse. cnuts.

Be mad if they bowled is out for peanuts again

It's not going to happen, Pakistan will waste time like no one's business, great fillip for Rashid though.

England need to treat this like a t20. Not have Cook open but be at three or four just in case they lose quick wickets. But go for it...

Realistically 50 minutes remaining. What do Pakistan do now? Bowl spinners, 3 minutes per over = bigger chance of wickets. Bowl seamers, 4 minutes per over = safer option.

50 mins is what, 8-9 very laboured overs of fast bowling with much shoelace-tying and field changing, we'd need McCullum and Gilchrist opening to do that

Jesus Christ Pakistan! This is even worse than our collapse against Sri Lanka.

In 2014 Sri Lanka chased 99 in 16.2 overs against Pakistan. Moments after the final delivery it was completely dark and thunderstorms. Don't let the history repeat itself. :nervous:

I'm 90% certain they'll still open with Cook, anyway.

THEY DIDNT WTF HAPPENED TO THE REAL ENGLAND

Brilliant move by England. That's so not England to do that.

Hope it backfires though

Would have though pace would be the best way to time waste, unless Misbah is going for it and all

I'm shocked he's gone spin from both ends

Good that England have sent root out there. Refreshing to see them change things up under Bayliss.
