Loved that...

Basically these guys have to tow the company line the whole time. This is one of the first times I've actually seen emotion. Proper unbridled emotion. The FA could do a lit worse than have some passionate ex players at the helm. Don't fancy Gareth 'company man'Southgate. Far too groomed in the FA mould. Like the Country, we ned to use this as a springboard for real change.

Yeah I enjoyed it, they were actually naming names and, for the most part, calling it how it was... an absolute shit show from top to bottom. Jenas at one point just straight out said Hodgson didn't look like he knew he was doing.

Well don't be modest

It's your moment. You should be gloating like a mother fecker

nah, not much of a fan of gloating, except when it comes to Man Utd winning big games. England fans applauded the Icelandic fans before the match so there I have nothing but respect for England and their fans.
But don't get me wrong, I'm still crying after the game, it was like watching the Moscow penalty shootout for 93 minutes. I'm exhausted

What's going down back in the homeland? Is it a bit mental?

I've never seen a performance so devoid of any sort of quality. Every single player on that pitch bar Rashford should be ashamed of what they served up tonight.

None of them gave an absolute shit. We have zero characters in the team and we have a muppet manager who picks players based on name rather than form.

Please tell me no one still thinks Rooney is good enough to play in midfield? He was worse than Hart tonight. The most abject, pathetic, spineless and gutless performance from a captain I've ever seen.

If this does not shake up the FA, nothing will.
It never does. I go back all 50 years and it the same every time. Everyone is livid and bleating the something needs to be done then the league season starts and it all goes out the window.

They will appoint Southgate and the cycle of failure will continue. What Shearer said tonight is dead right. The premiership isn't that great. It is propped up by foreigners on and off the field. There is nothing in terms of home grown talent that compares with other nations.

I just can't believe it, and you guys were so happy to face us instead of Portugal

I've always been a proud Icelandic, but this is something else, I don't know what to say.

Think you should gloat. Englands pundits, media, everybody were pretty disrespectful to Iceland. Even during the game I thought some of the players were disrespectful the way they approached the game.

Iceland were organised, and played some good stuff tbh. And are undefeated right? amazing.

A bit? It's insane.
We were over the moon when we qualified for the tournament and we were all so glad that we would not be one of those countries that can't even score a goal in a big tournament, and now we are in the final 8. I've never seen so many Icelandic flags everywhere I go. It's absolutely mental, and not just on match days.

Its not that we don't have homegrown talent. Just what resources do they have? Has there been a serious effort by the FA to emulate what other top European nations are doing right?

Heck we withdraw from the EU because we are afraid of the Germans. Why would we stoop to learning from them.

That just isn't true. Most of the players in that team are not big names. Many of them were given their debut by Hodgson. The players available to choose just aren't very good.

must disagree with you mate.

Its about teamwork. We don't have it because we don't have a manager who can make us believe in ourselves and each other. There is no fight. Heck Rooney, ok he was awful today, had to tell one of the players to run for the ball after he lost it.

I've never seen a performance as bad as that from any team ever when putting everything into context.

I beg to differ, the selection of players is better than all of the teams they have played so far.

Conte said this after the Spain match today;

"Right from the outset since I took over I have said that the only route forward to achieve a semblance of success is to try and be a like a club team

"We can't simply be a group of players. There is no point in hiding it, this is not the rosiest period for Italy in terms of talent.

"Given the fact we can't fall back on a selection of good players we have to be a collective. I have battled for two years for people to understand this and we are a team.

"We have been working very intensively for a month now, tactically and physically, in a bid to surprise people and we have already succeeded on that."

Italy might not have the best team, but its a team selected and playing to its optimum levels. England are just a team shoe horned into a selection and having to make it work.

Why did Wilshere get so much game time having played pretty much feck all during the season? Why was Sterling selected ahead of Rashford? Why when Hodgson decided to inexplicably make 6 changes v Slovakia did he keep the one player who had made the most mistakes (Hart)?

Guys an idiot. Thankfully he will never manage us again.

This is nothing compared to last week but we're just too arrogant for our own good.

:(

Agreed. We really should take a long hard look at ourselves.

However, I think there is fat chance of that because it would appear that the country is getting even more insular and up itself. If that's possible.

I've never been so ashamed.

We got what was coming to us , we had a truly awful world cup , then got drawn in the weakest group in euro championship qualifying history .So how can we possibly be surprised to see the team fail again .
Roy hodgson is a very nice man ....that says it all , we haven't moved forward a single step since he took over , he is dull unimaginative and lacks inspiration , motivation and leadersh skills and unfortunately the team is populated , by a bunch of overpaid , over hyped ,talentless , ego maniacs who are only interested in opportunities to self publicise and earn even more cash .
I love watching the Irish and Welsh teams as you can almost see the passion coarsing through their bodies but watching England leaves me cold , what a disgrace hey we're again tonight .
Hodgson responded with dignity and fell on his sword and you can only respect him for that , now Rooney and Joe hart should do the same

Draw the England team from the Championship and Div 1 sides. Ban earphones and make them talk to one another. Play 4 4 2.

I heard that we are the only nation in history to be undefeated in a big tournament , don't quote me on that though :p
We've only played 4 games and this is our first tournament, but who cares? :D

I'm glad we're out. I despise the nationalism that goes with every ING GER LAND match. We cannot produce talent in the way France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands and Germany do consistently through the decades. We do not deserve success. The one thing we do well, better than anyone, is work rate and heart, but that alone aint enough. However, when you ally this mentality with continental flair and technique you have one hell of a domestic league.

Hart and every outfield play shoud be ashamed of themselves. Except for the 2 that didn't kick a ball that is.

Hodgson bottled it. No way should Kane have started ahead of Vardy. Rashford made an unbelievable impact given the 5 or so mins he was given.

Exactly. At half time and 2-1 down, the presenter asked the pundits "Do you think we should drop Joe Hart for the quarter final" !!!!

indeed.

His resignation after the match somehow made me even angrier if that is possible.

He knew that he was not good enough, but did not care enough about the National side to hand over to someone more competent.
