England vs Iceland

Why people bringing Leicester into this? Yes, Iceland have the same population as Leicester, but Leicester can buy players and Iceland have to choose only players from Iceland. It is if Leicester would have fielded only Leicester born players, then the comparison would be valid.

Even if we'll play against Iceland and I'll be for France, I have the biggest for them and will hope that the team won't take them lightly. France is weak in the air and in set pieces, Iceland can definitely exploit that. I'd have a France vs England QF but the better teams you face, the better

Well done Iceland, fully deserved it. England, don't even care anymore, I was laughing my head off. Just the same old same old. 'We go again' was very apt.

Rooney needs to retire too, focus on Utd and join Coleen on her holidays.

Bit off topic but i love how condescending ITV news are towards brexit leaders :lol:

England arent bad at all Iceland are just too good already showed that in qualifying. Bad decision for Woy to resign.

I don't like England, the flag or the anthem mate, check my recent political posts. I just laugh at you, you've had an issue with me for soooo long but Ireland or your Irish clubs can't compare to England, Rooney, Rashford or MUFC.

I'd take a break and take some deep breaths.

Tyldesley is a clown. He can't keep his anger in check when England do crap, he shouldn't even commentate on the national team IMO.

But it's not just him isn't it?

World Cup 2010 when Germany tore England a new one, Shearer and the BBC boys were talking down on a Germany team that had Ozil, Muller and Neuer. Hansen called them "an average side" and "eminently beatable." Lineker responded by saying "would we worry less if they were not called Germany?" The insinuation being that Germany were the team living on their names and past glories. Shearer talking about England being better "man for man" and Dixon saying "their name is bigger than the team."

This is why some people dislike the English football team.

If this was about them being 1-0 down for 23 minutes or whatever, then going on to win 7-1, then yes, spot on. Even when they were down, and watching the game unfolding before their eyes, with England being shite and Iceland playing well, they still had their misplaced sense of arrogance.

I used to root for England, until I noticed things like this happening throughout all these years I've watched football.

That's the one. It's nigh on impossible to watch an England match nowadays. Partly because we're shite and partly because the media portray us as brilliant and everything we do is great.

5 live making a good point. That statement was prepared extremly quickly. They're claiming it was pre-prepared.
Why would you have a prepared resignation letter heading into the tournament?

Because you're England?

Somebody on BeIn Sports said it best: England simply has no technical playmakers in midfield. When the closest thing to Iniesta you have is Lallana and the best English passer in the EPL is Milner, you know there is a bit of a problem. :nervous: England would kill for somebody like Joe Allen or Aaron Ramsey.

No need to go into detail, bro.

Hanson is Scottish in fairness. But I do remember that World Cup. The English media claimed we were so bad because Gareth Barry was injured in the group stages. I knew something wasn't right from that moment.

You'd have more admirers if this weren't the case but that being said, it's not quite a popular contest is it? I wanted to like this England team. Some good young players in that squad. But the way the commentators go on and on about them whilst putting down the opposition, and with my tendency to side underdogs like Iceland, it just made them so unlikeable.

I don't have a problem with the English team but somehow I can't say it's not always amusing to see the lads bottle it.

Oh yeah and I really love Iceland by now. Such a limited team but they are fighting for every ball and showed all the passion and commitment that England was completely lacking.

I was sick to my teeth of the pundits and commentators saying or acting like 'it's only iceland'. The level of disrespect for them and their team was ridiculous, Tyldesley was comparing it to being behind to San Marino way back when.

Sycophantic dickheads who cover England matches, all of them.

We got exactly what we deserved. Good on Iceland.
Yep. They kept discussing how we can beat France.

But England played well and we never know what would have happened if that goal was not wrongly disallowed.

I think that was more ignorance (of football outside of England) than arrogance.

The England fans were terrible. Thoroughly deserved to go out.

To have so little knowledge of football outside of England and still be so smug about their chances against a country like Germany. Is that not arrogance?
