England v Australia - Third Ashes Test - Edgbeston

Can we petition to have England moved somewhere less rainy?

Rain or shine tomorrow please, one or the other. Overcast and I wouldn't bet for one minute against one of our traditional collapses.

The Ozzie bowlers haven't exactly looked that great and England can bat a long way down, even Onions can bat a little.
Looking mostly like a wash out though.

The way it is set now ,a draw is odds on.
Onions made me eat my words yesterday ,I dont think the Aussie bowler's can get the ball to swing the way we did.
If there is any play today , the Aussie bowler's will be looking to get a bit of swing the pitch will be damp and there will be mosture in the air.

10:00

Light Rain
Temp: 14°C 57°F
13:00

Heavy Rain
Temp: 15°C 59°F
16:00

Light Rain
Temp: 18°C 64°F

BBC are saying rain all day , so the prospect of any play in slim.

If today is a washout and tomorrow and monday are dry then England could still get a result if they score a lot quickly. I would guess the Ozzies have little chance of winning now whatever the conditions.

I cant see any play going ahead to day.but I think you are right,But I recon we would have to score 400-450 maybe even 500 to have a chance of winning and we would have to do that in one day.
We have the batters to do that , but they would have to be at the top of there game and not make any stuipd shots.
A big part of that pressure would be on Flintoff to have a big innings ,he can do it ,if he can get his eye in.
I not sure if the pich in these condition is a 400+ innings wicket.

I think the England management wont be too displeased if it's a washout today. Collingwood, Prior, Flinthoff, Broad and Swann can all score quickly so it's not beyond realms of possibility. It would have been nice to have had a fit KP though. gashout.

I moved my position to the draw so I suppose the rain suits me but it's a bit miserable to be welcoming the rain.

Obviously it's miserable. But it suits England more than the simple convict types.

Mmmm, not sure about that. England would be optimistic about the chances of taking a two nil lead at this point. Obviously the hold-up in play is not helping with that.

Anyone on here going to Headingley ? Cant get Friday due to work but will be there from Saturday onwards . We will win the Ashes there, a rain effected draw at Edgbaston followed by going two up with one to play in Yorkshire :)

Im going to the Monday.

I went yesterday and saw nothing. Hopefully it wont be the same at Headingley.

Unlucky mate. Unfortunately with our climate its the chance we take . You will get a full refund for it though wont you. Are you going to the T20's at Old Trafford ?

The likelihoood is we will get swung out for something near the Aussies total, but if we could push up to 100 ahead, and the weather holds up, we're in with a decent shout.

Would be nice if England get skittled out soon. Could make for an actual match here if rain stays away. Otherwise can't see past a draw.

How's Johnson bowling? I'm not watching

Very well, much more consistent line, great battle brewing between him and Freddie at the moment infact, a few verbals too

Enjoying this.

They're at each others throats at the moment, short balls, wickets, boundaries, words being exchanged, Stuart Broad just hit a boundary and he and Johnson just squared up like two boxers.

Great stuff this.

Cant believe this - brilliant English middle order today :wenger: should'nt they have fallen apart and added about 20 runs for the loss of 5 wkts ?!?

Kinell once Freddie got into them they've put on a great show - if we can get a lead of 130 + they could panic knowing there's a full day ahead with the ball swinging around for Onions and Anderson - great game

love the ups and downs of a days play in test cricket

England all out for 376. 113 lead Can't see the Aussies winning now its out of a draw and England win.

Yep agree - real shame we could'nt just add that other 30/40 runs but a great effort from the middle order lads

If we can rip into them with an early wicket or two this evening it could be a belter tomorrow

Be a great match to win for us - Ashes in the bag if we did

Michael Holding reckons all fast bowlers should point their back foot straight down the pitch on landing. Now that's not possible if you've got a proper side on action. It's much easier for bowlers with chest on actions.

Thus say me, really.

Working night so not seen any play today, but we have given ourselves a slim chance of a win here.
If we can get them out and keep there lead to below 200 ,we could do it.
Admited it woukd take another cracking bowling display but we did it on Friday.
Glad Flintoff produce with the bat today, let's see if he and Onions can rip the Aussie's apart on Monday
.

Anderson's the key to this - if he bowls not quite as well as the other day we'll do 'em - its moving all over the place - if he can get an overcast spell for an hour and a half it's very much on

I agree but if Onions can do what he did on Friday again puts us in the driving seat.
We have to get them out by lunch for us to stand a chance at a push maybe an hour after but any longer ans we don't stand a chance.
