England v Australia - Second Ashes Test - Lord's

Felt like that test in India today [Chennai was it?] where they were chasing a supposedly impossible target. Hopefully the story has a better ending eh. :)

Was disappointed with how Strauss let things drift prior to tea, aside from this i thought this captaincy had improved a fair piece from Cardiff over the first three days.

How long it takes for that first wicket to go down could prove crucial. If these do put another 100 on there's a horrible 'meant to be' element about it

Johnson is in next and he has a 123 not out to his name :nervous:

Beyond that it's a pretty genuine tail

Saying that Hauritz made 24, Siddle made 35 and Hilfenhaus was not out first innings :nervous:

According to the BBC we should expect rain from a little after midday to well into the afternoon. The first hour will tell all, Strauss must be more aggressive with his field placings.

Make hay while the sun shines.

England should still win easily but they should hang their head in shame if they don't. Both sides have had unbelievably rubbish moments in both tests so far.

I can see Lee and Clarke back to bolster the bowling ranks for the next test - fitness allowing of course. Johnson has been woeful in this test.

Rubbish decision by the umpires in regarding Katich and the Hughes wickets.

Katich was clearly out on a no-ball and the umpire should have referred to the third umpire regarding Strauss's catch, the cheat.

We're going to toss it away tomorrow, just you watch.

Australia win.

Wait...

Is that a violin I hear?

I'm not fussed if we lose, I don't really like any of our players, in fact I hate some of them - meanwhile I love Flintoff, and Melbourne Red can vouch for that.*

But shit decisions that can potentially turn the match on its head like those two did, especially with Katich being in such fine form of late and it being such an elementary error (calling a fecking no-ball) is just pathetic. Add to that the captain of England claiming a catch that clearly he'd have known touched the ground, and the umpire not referring it is even more pathetic.

If it happened to your lot you'd be screaming blue murder, especially if Ponting was somehow involved.

* I only really like Katich, North and Siddle.

Truly rubbish decisions but shit happens.

Did not see any of the days play yesterday, has a very wet day out at Fairford but was checking the score when they was at 120 odd for 5 , I thought it would be all over before I got home.
But now if we are not very good for the first hour and get out line and length bang on , and get out Clark we could lose this game ,they only need slighly over 200.
But then again it would not be England if we did not do it the hard way.

Another cracking test match on our hands here. I can't wait for 11!

Same here ,my sound a bit obvious but the key is to get Clarke out ASAP.
There is still a chance the Aussies can win this and if they do there will be some shit.
Unlike what everybody else is saying , I dont think we can count on Freddie to win this match for us,he will be OK for the first session and then he is fecked. Not his fault just his body falling apart.
The big one is going to be the 3rd test ,because I suspect we will have no Flintoff or KP and that will be a huge loss.

why?

There are 10 days between this test and the next. Plenty of time for them to recover..

Looking forward to the start of today's play..

Draw is 25/1

I guess that means not a lot of rain is expected.

Very good start here from an England pov. Both Anderson and Fred have looked threatening, and a great early wicket there. Need another wicket reasonably quickly though, and then it's surely wrapped up.

This sounds very much like you do care Cesc

I can see you point , but Flintoff's knee is his problem and I have read that it needs an op and has an Acillies(sp) problem, and both have needed more than one injection to help them play. This to me pionts to more serious problems that need more than rest.I hope they are back .

Michael Clarke's playing beautifully.

Yes he is , playing some good shot.
He has took what Flintoff can throw at him and just stood there.
The England bowling is really good so far,the problem is that some of the bowling is getting a bit wide , Broad is not has tight has Flintoff.
Anderson played his part too ,bowling tight line and length.
This may but Flintoff last over in this session ,lets hope he is just has fired up when he comes back

Much needed breakthrough, and surely game over now. Hard luck to Clark, he was superb.

Pietersen gave an interview before the Ashes saying he was postponing surgery which would put him out of action for months. I think the two of them will continue with the pain killing injections tilll the end of the Ashes.

Clarke's gone.. thought that was a rather unnecessary dismissal.. Could've stayed in his crease since it was only Swann's first over.

England should take this now barring a miracle.

Clarke gone means the end of the Aussie resistance. But who knows? Did not the last four batters get something like 70-80 runs in the first innings?

Fair play to Australia. It was almost an impossible task, and so it looks like being proven, but I have my doubts as to whether England would have gotten this close, to be honest.

Given that the top four batsmen only scored 90 runs, it's a terrific effort by Clarke and Haddin.

Flintoff hasn't got a 5 wicket haul at Lord's.. would be nice for him to get one today.

The trouble is that these injection cause more problems than they solve,it could be a case of surgery now and be out for 3 months or have injectios and be out for 6 months, but put in that same boat I would o the same has KP.

Johnson will go after the bowlers now, I think. Should be fun.
