I’ve made a conscious decision not to criticize the pitches because I get the impression my remarks get misconstrued by some on here and I’ve got nothing but respect for Indian cricket. Their bowling this morning has been first class and their fielding as sharp as ever, such a quality side. I feel England have done well actually, previous sides would have collapsed against this quality bowling, but apart from Pope England have applied themselves excellently. Root’s lucky to still be there mind. Real high class test cricket this morning from both sides.

Axar is a much better batsman, but I wouldve liked to see Kuldeep here.. I like him a lot better as a bowler.

I definitely agree with this. The Crawley dismissal to me looked like it bounced, but it could just as easily have bounced off Siraj's fingers under the ball. The 3rd umpire really is in a no win situation because if he's seeing exactly what we're seeing the bottom line in all honesty is that he has no real idea one way or the other.
Both 350 in 70 overs and 180 all out by tea are equally possible. All part of the fun.

England have batted well imo, the conditions are extremely tough. 150 is definitely par for the course imo. 200 would be excellent.

Yeah we have actually batted alright today. India have given us nothing and it's a tough deck.
My main worry is our spinners are about four levels below yours.

If you get 220+ i think it's still a good game on the cards. Our batsmen barring a couple aren't great with spin and it'll be a challenge batting last.
Can only truly judge the pitch once India have batted but the Indian bowling attack is just ridiculous
I think 200 is an excellent score for a touring side these conditions against those bowlers. At least England are competing as well as could be expected.
Yeah there's a huge caveat that 220 v Ashwin and Jadeja is decent.

I see an average par first innings score here is around 400. For those who are better placed, is this pitch playing drastically different from other tests or is this an India masterclass?

feels like one of those days where we have a dart and get some momentum back, bowl really well, but drop a few chances, before heads drop and india bat us out the game and we lose by an innings.
