As long as there's those better off and those worse off this sort of thing will always happen, and the ones well off will always sow/redirect the division otherwise they end up being the target.
My worry is that having the Tories in charge for so long (particularly once Boris started to have an influence) has amplified this problem to the point its given the far right a foothold rather than them effectively being bridge trolls. The Tories started pandering to hate politics in their desperate attempt to stay in power, then Reform just stepped in as a sort of half way house between "I blame foreigners for the fact I have less money" and "Hitler was pretty cool".
A lot of the idiots smashing stuff up atm might be more people looking for an excuse to take out their anger than driven/devoted racists, but either way they end up being the foot soldiers, because they're fecking stupid and easy to manipulate as long as you pander to their anger.
