One really fun thing about this is you know this government is extremely excited about all the new powers it helps them push through that will ultimately be used far more against climate protestors than any right wing organisers.
I'm all for self defence but we should let the police do their jobs, they are doing enough damage to their reputations by themselves. Getting into confrontations with them is what they want so they can turn around and call us violent.
BTW our parents/grandparents were no pushover, they got into plenty of scuffles with the far right and stood their ground.

What's mad is that if you looked at companies house the EDL was registered as the EIDL. English and Israeli Defence League.
There was an interview with ex member Jayda and she left because she felt they were about the money, coming from Israel.
I remember as a kid it used to be the NF. When they held protests the Salvation Army would come out in force and a member would basically stand next to a NF youth. Thinking being they wouldn't lay a hand on the Salvation army person this limiting violence. It worked.
Also as a young kid in the late 70's we/I were terrorised. Couldn't even go to the local park. Was jumped as a 13 year old by about 20 lads all over 16.
Growing up we used to literally sit in a van waiting for louts to walk through and smash our windows etc. it soon stopped once they realised we were waiting with bats etc.
So I get your point about letting the police handle it but it was only growing up and fighting back that stopped the violence.

Yes, the jobless oiks have predictably fallen into the trap. Though I’m not sure its primary intended target is climate protestors.

The dog whistles get people onto the streets and they end up with criminal records. While those who whip up tensions end up on Question Time.
Like I said I have no issue with self defence, what I'm against is going to these protests to counter and then get lured into violent exchanges.
And I understand what you went through heard many similar stories from elders about this period and also how they fought back.
The jails are full, but some climate protestors got 4-5 years in jail. I doubt a single one of these racist cnuts arrested will even get 5 months!
I doubt it, you just have to hope that people see it for what it is, a bunch of thugs embroiled in hate.
They have peaked too soon, this will trigger some actual force from the Police now, they will get smashed as soon as they step out of line at any of these protest this weekend.

Yeah I think the police will be extra prepared over the weekend after this evenings events.
They've brought in laws that allow them to send Anjem Choudary to jail for ever. They need to use these laws to lock up the people pushing these dog whistles.
A house brick in the groin is the only language these people understand.
Think the govt needs to draft in the army now. Too many protests being planned and well orchestrated right across the country tomorrow. I think govt should consider every option available, even declare martial law if necessary. This has the potential to get seriously ugly.

Have you been out and about in England lately? feck all done about knife crime, nothing gets done about street kids doing whatever they want. Kids and young lads running around robbing, stabbing people up, rallying around on dirtbikes fully balaclavad up. Just wipe the lot of them out.
I believe in the main there has not been any "counter" or people going looking for trouble. However there has been a presence near the mosques etc.
There is a march in my town tomorrow. Not the first over the years and generally there hasn't been any trouble, in terms of EM fighting EDL etc. the only time there was trouble was when the fascists marches through a small part of the town and harassed women and children.
Got jumped at 12 by blokes in their 30s, had a couple of bricks thrown through our window... Ahhh nostalgia.

14 years of Tories have destroyed the infrastructure of our country.
They were full Brexit.
A mix of being one of the least diverse and most deprived areas of the country. “Particularly racist” is perhaps a bit unfair on many people who live there but the conditions are prime for racism to sprout.
I understand why the police don't want to increase tension and appear to stand off ish but the louts just seem so sure that nothing will happen to them. Would love to see one of these riots proper quelled! Make them think twice about setting property and cars on fire.
In Belfast the security forces didn't hesitate to fire plastic and rubber bullets when there was a riot.
Without wanting to offend anyone in the NE but yeah it's shithole, it's a proper "working man" part of the country and no doubt it people are grafters but the opportunities are lacking in that area and they basically been forgotten about.
I normally spend a few weeks in Newcastle and Sunderland every year with work and over the years and it's got worse every time I have gone up there, dead high streets, drug users, daytime drinkers, vapeshops / novelty shops everywhere or worse just boarded up shops.
Assuming a lot of that part of the country voted for Reform in the hope Nigel would rescue them, don't think that makes them racist, they're just very desperate people at this point.
This still isn’t ‘protest’. It’s violent disorder and wanton vandalism. But yes, they need smashing asap.

These types of riots are always to small to give any real meaning to.
The bigger issue could the government using this as a way to bring forward authoritarian policy/laws.
