For all of Amir's talent and talk of comeback etc. the kid hasn't played test cricket in 6 years.

Typical Pakistan fielding, already had a catch dropped off him.
I thought at times he was struggling to get through his overs at the world t20 as well. So his fitness might also take some time to get up to test match standard.

This is why I was sceptical about moving Root up to 3. Quite apart from the fact that his stats batting there are a trainwreck compared to 4-7, it puts our 2 best players together and once their partnership is broken I do fear for the domino effect. Hopefully we can arrest the slide we seem to have started since lunch.
