England Cricket 2016 - Sri Lanka & Pakistan

Warne in the last 15 mins on Sohail: 'He's in a good rhythm', 'He's a bit all over the place since he changed his mark', 'He's bowling well'.

 I've found his commentating quite annoying. He fits in well with the crew on Channel 9 in Australia though - most of them are very annoying as well.

He's the cricket version of Paul Scholes in that I wish I never heard his opinions so that it did not diminish my opinion of the guy as a player. Like Scholes I'm not sure Warne is as smart as previously advertised. Oh and Sohail's lost his rhythm yet again .

Khan is killing us. What a good selection.

England regressing into their usual habit of getting out playing daft shots. Hales and Cook got decent balls, but the rest of them could and should have left them well alone.

Would say Pakistan are narrowly on top here. If they can get England out for under 250 they should be happy.

On another note, I always look forward to playing Pakistan or India at Edgbaston. Used to go to quite a few international games there, when I lived in the West Midlands, and those ones always had a really fun atmosphere. Especially like the British Asians declaring their split loyalties with half and half ODI shirts.

Vince seems like he can't figure out which balls to play or leave outside off, which is pretty problematic for a test match no.4.

This is a great opportunity for Moeen to bat a proper innings.

Good game so far. Moeen needs to perform.

Drag this partnership on a bit longer and Pakistan's bowlers really start to wonder what their captain was thinking.

Pakistan taking wickets exactly when they need to. Another 30 runs from that partnership would've been huge.

Unlucky for Ballance, probably deserved a century. England need Woakes and Ali to get them as close to 300 as possible.

Interesting game this. England have struggled on what to me looks like a relatively benign surface with few demons so, providing Pakistan don't bat like the absolute morons they often do, I think 300 would be sub par.

I think 320 might be par and I think England will get it.

EDIT - Or not...

Did he actually check if the ball hit the glove? He was only 'rock and rolling' on the under edge.

300 a good score?

I think so, considering Pakistan's batting. When you bat 2nd you want to outscore the 1st innings total by a hundred I'd say to ensure the total isn't huge for the final innings (above 250+). I think this is already the highest 1st innings total bar one since 2005 at Edgbaston.

Broad out - almost makes his highest score of the summer of 14. Into genuine tailenders now, England need to get to 300 still for me

Good stuff from Pakistan. Hope we can stop them getting 300 now.

Finn adding real value here.

Excellent from the bowlers, once again. Good stuff Sohail.

Batsmen have to do something useful but except us to collapse, once again :(

Great day of cricket. Just as England were looking to gain an upper hand, Pakistan broke the partnership. About the score most expected, a few great wickets, and some good catches.

England come close to 300, underperformed overall. Think Pakistan need to score close to 350+ to give themselves a strong chance batting last. Sun's out tomorrow should be should be easier to bat tomorrow and there isn't much wrong with the pitch.

Glad Sohail got his 5-for. Well deserved.

Well done Ali & Ballance also cook and Vince did OK, but the rest should have just stayed in bed

Heard on the radio that the side batting second has won fourteen tests here, as against only four wins for the side batting first in recent(ish) tests. Explains why Pakistan chose to bowl, but also suggests England's total is at least competitive.

Really important the batsmen perform today. A lead of 50+ would put us in a good position. Bowlers did their job, now batters have to.

And as I write this, feck off.
