Emil Forsberg

In a manner of speaking. The owners are rich, but they don't put that into the club. When was the last time you saw Monaco spending the kind of money they spent on James and Falcao? I think following the owners extremely expensive divorce, they have been run a lot more organically.

I agree RE: Monaco. But my argument is that, that is also the stage Leipzig is in or rather slightly less so. Leipzig owners haven't really sanctioned spending on the scale of Monaco 2013. They aren't even as attractive as Monaco given Monaco's success this season. They are closer to the Monaco which finished 2nd?
That's why I argue that the only reason they aren't being 'Monacoed' is because their players haven't the breakthrough season on a European scale as Monaco have had.
I think neither club can be bullied into selling their players. I believe they operate how an organic club should in that. If fair offer comes for a player who wants to leave, then they will sell.

It's because they have a business plan, it's to buy smart through scouting and sell at decent prices, smart since they're in it for the cash.

Watched him in a couple of matches but i think he is not a huge upgarde. If we wanted a wide playmaker then we should have gotten bernardo silva, not a typical winger at all. Also i dont think the source is good or Lepzig will sell.

I've not seen anything of this fella, is he any good? Same sort of player as Perisic?

And finally are we being linked by anyone credible?

Edit: @Maradona10 answered all my questions before i'd even asked them!

Which is why I doubt we're even interested. If we're pushing so hard for Perisic - a typical winger who will maintain width and look to beat his fullback on the outside - why would the alternate target be a wide-playmaker forward in the same mould of what we already have?

No idea who he is. Sounds like a nice beer though. I'd drink it.

Find Inter too tough to negotiate with? Let's move to a Leipzig player then. Naiiiice!

If the man can cross a ball well, he's what we need..
Nope, his game is through balls and deft touches. He is below silva& silva in talent i think. Although he is young and has time to improve.

Would much rather get perisic, who looks impressive from what Ive seen, if not inspiring.

RBL have plenty of money and don't want to sell.

You see how they are refusing to sell Keita and he only has a year left on his contract before a lower buyout clause becomes active. Forsberg has 4 years left and no buyout clause in his contract... zero chance.

Yes. Think De Bruyne/Eriksen/Sigurdsson rather than touchline-hugging winger. He is a very good crosser, though, and substantially better at corners than Phil Jones.
So one more Mickhi and Mata type of a player. Maybe Pereira too.

This. Think there's some logic in the post above about this being planted to put pressure on Inter to sell. There's no way this transfer happens in the context of how RBL handled Keita.

Wouldn't we have chosen a more reasonable smokescreen option to pursue though if our interest wasn't genuine?

19 assists. He's an assist king. No way can he be compared to Lingard.

Think its' a move to make Inter sweat a bit though. We are gonna end up with Perisic.

His stats in the OP state crossing as one of his strengths and that one of the features of his play is crossing.
He isnt a winger, more of an inside playmaker. He isnt your valencia/young/perisic as in he wont look to cross the first thing in his mind.

I'll admit I've not seen him play but from the YouTube videos he looks decent but nothing more. I'd much prefer Perisic.

Most YouTube videos contains clips against 2nd division opponents as well. RBL only got promoted this year.

This guy was in the German 2nd division for 18 months from Jan 15 - Aug 16. And in the Swedish league for 2 years before that. And his stats in those 2 leagues were not great.

Then last year RBL were in the bundesliga for the first time and nearly did a Leicester. He provided 22 assists in 30 games. The question is, is he a late bloomer or a one season wonder a la Michu?

Oh and the guy is a playmaker. He's right footed and always comes quite centrally. Like Mata starts on the right but basically plays as a #10. He's not a guy to provide width and run down the touchline, any more than Mata.

Who the hell is this guy? More importantly, is he any good football manager?

Just what we need, another averagely paced winger who cuts inside most the time and tries to play fancy passing. :nervous:

Definitely think this is a way of putting pressure on Inter. I think we'll end up with Perisic tbh.

Let me get this straight:

Inter "we want to keep perisic, he will be sold only for a huge offer we can't refuse"

United inquire about another player

caf "we're trying to put pressure on inter for perisic"

Checks out

He is a much better player than Perisic. And you guys are now obsessed with a wingers crossing ability he is much better than Perisic in that regard too.

Only Forsberg is not a winger any more than Mata is a winger. And he is very one footed (right). So comparing him to Perisic who is a two footed natural winger is like comparing him to Ander Herrera, kinda pointless.

Dele Alli moved up from lower divisions pretty nicely. It's always hard to compare across divisions. But I like being linked to someone not named Perisic.

Do not get fooled because has his position as AM. He is a winger. He has pace, he can cross but, can also cut inside. He plays as a winger for Sweden and he is only listed as an attacking midfielder for Red Bull because they played 4-2-2-2 most of the time.
