Elon Musk's epic bacon adventures

No. Abolish cars. Or personal car ownership. It’s a ridiculous principle for cities.

Are you saying tunnels are a ridiculous principle for cities? I don't think I even need to respond to that as it's demonstrably the best idea for high density inner city transport if affordable.

Obviously a clever guy, I’d guess his IQ is over 140

But also a massive twat and says some stupid shit

The co-founder bit was as a result of a legal decision involving one of the original two guys who founded the company a year before Musk got involved. The company itself was generally meaningless for its first decade of existence until the model S came out in 2012.
Aye, 5 people ended up being on the list. I think (?) the other 2 are original employees. I'm not sure that's an answer to the question though.

Roadster was out first, no?

Tunnels with rbg lights for individual cars are pretty daft.

Yes, the Roadster was the first, but never really took off due to all the usual problems with early EV concept cars - range anxiety and a lack of tech and connectivity we see in today's EVs.

That's not what they're actually looking to make money with though, it's just the bit they want the media to latch onto to get in the press. The actual company are there to make tunnels for any form of transport. They were highlighting trains until recently.

From what I can find online they stopped making them when the deal they had with Lotus to supply gliders ran out, they seem to have shifted all the cars they made pretty easily. Less that 2,500 though tbf.
Tesla had already been planning to move onto the other models then.

Why would you stop if that was part of the goal? The loop section on that website isn't particularly bigging up subways either.

They haven't stopped anything as the Boring Company build tunnels and you can choose the type of tunnel you want them to build. As with every company they will target different markets every few months.

They want to make it affordable again and I have no idea whether they will achieve that considering the London underground was built in the 18th and 19th century's but the company isn't about the transportation, it's about the tunnels. If Tesla want to use them, that's just one of the buyers they're hoping for.

The Loop section is the Tesla bit, so I agree that's marketing.

I was just responding to your post saying they were highlighting trains until recently.

I have no Idea why Tesla would want to use them.

That was because I was responding to you saying they were highlighting cars with LED lighting and me pointing out what they advertise changes.

I have no Idea why Tesla would want to use them.

I don't know the costs involved and the potential profits, but that's what the "Loop" section is about - building tunnels for electric cars, with all infrastructure there prebuilt. Considering it's a Musk company I assume that's relating to Tesla.

I have no idea whether the company are cheaper at building tunnels than others, or quicker, but there's nothing wrong with what they're selling, I would need to know a lot more about their business to criticise it - if it's cheaper it will sell, if it's not businesses will use alternatives.

i think local governments would be the main consumers.

Quicker and cheaper from what I've seen.

The loops they're doing at the moment are public transportation systems, rather than tunnels for traffic in general. I'm not even sure how they'd even introduce those to big cities from the initial videos I saw with the lifts bringing them up onto the streets.

My missus wants to buy a Tesla, and I'm trying to convince her not to because to me they're just status symbols that software engineers in San Francisco buy to let everyone know they have money. I know that there are better EV's out there I just don't know which ones. Someone help me out.

I've researched EVs up the ying yang all year and nothing came close to Teslas. About to pull the trigger on one here.

Did you take a look at Rivian?

been getting some decent reviews, not cheap though!

Yes, they only make pickup trucks and SUVs (one model of each). There are a number of interesting boutique EV companies like Rivian and Lucid Air, but I wouldn't want to deal with charging infrastructure issues (at least not in the US), which is why I prefer the piece of mind of the Tesla network.

So he was an investor who went on to become CEO. Yet passes himself as a co-founder. Why would someone do that? Why would his role in building the company not be enough for him?

The whole created and sold nothing at that time doesn't really mean that much when the company itself was started in 2003, had to design and build a car whilst looking for investment.

He joined Tesla early in 2004, just a few months after it was founded. So Tesla was still just an idea when he joined them.

He became CEO much later though.

Nothing else comes close to Tesla. Their charging network and their autopilot is miles ahead of everyone else.

Don't get me wrong. There are other decent EVs but those 2 factors completely rule out any other ev for me.

And before you decide one way or other, have you driven one?

That doesn’t make him a co-founder.

Some of the discrediting of Musk here is surprising. Say what you want to say about the quality of Tesla's or Musk's roll as its 'founder', they were the company who made EVs mainstream. Adding this to the ridiculously good charging network and the best autopilot technology on the market, you can't say that Tesla's are good for nothing cars which only sold because of the first mover advantage.

SpaceX again are an incredible company doing things which no private company has done before.

I agree he is an annoying manchild, and not the savior of mankind or the greatest inventor of our lifetime, but people just dismissing him as someone who only came up on his family's fortune and not giving him any credit for his work at spacex and Tesla are be blinkered by their hatred for Musk.

This pretty much sums it up. We can separate the quality of the products and services Tesla and SpaceX deliver, which are largely done by thousands of workers, with Musk's odd personality, which should be fair game for endless mockery.

Nope, there is no such feature. It doesn't exist.

I've been TESLAQ for about three years now and have read/researched a lot on this subject and to see it's finally going mainstream with double features in the New York Times is refreshing.

I said "their autopilot". What they call autopilot, I actually use 95-99% of my driving. If u want we can call it their drivers assistance feature. Either way doesn't change my point.

It totally changes your point. Because every other car has the option for radar cruise control and lane control. Autopilot is a misnomer. You have a very basic driver assistance feature and naturally I'd imagine you keep you hands on the wheel while driving.

I have and been taken on several journeys in them, a S and a 3.

Jesus, Murder making this thread less enjoyable than the cryptocurrency one.

No other car has that level of control. But as a self proclaimed member of tslaQ I don't expect you to get it.

Take care. Good luck.
