Elon Musk | Doer of things on X and sad little man

Thread title checks out.

RedCafe's definition of a complete loser is a bit odd. One of the most successful businessmen on Earth, with a mandate from the most powerful person on Earth to simplify bureaucracy in the US.

I would like to be that kind of loser.

Henry Ford was also one of the most successful businessmen on Earth, but he was still a massive loser.

Billionaire bootlickers are the biggest losers tbh

Yes, but I'm pretty sure studies have also shown X isn't actually that important. YouTube is definitely by far the most important one these days, I reckon.
Twitter has always been the platform of choice for news & current events, not youtube or facebook. When media outlets are suffering from a slow news day, they check twitter for something to talk about. Its a twitter post you're far more likely to see embedded into a website than any other social media, perhaps be tempted to click on, and be subjected to far-right comments. Whether you're a twitter user or not.

I just wonder with how well X is ingrained into all other media, its probably the goat of setting a political narrative. Get a region/community/demographic talking about a particular topic, distracting from another, etc.

For a specific set of people (like us, in this thread), yes. But I'd bet even today far more people get their news from Facebook than X. For most people X just isn't a factor. Meanwhile the YouTube algorithm has been radicalising people for years and years.

when i was complaining about my twitter algorithms, it was because i got a series of blue-check left-punching pro-kamala centrists on my feed. it was like the election thread here from october, concentrated. some blocking helped. now it wants me to see silicon valley VCs talking mostly-inscrutable mostly-apolitical stuff which i don't care about.

youtube has been wanting me to see videos about the glories of rhodesia with hundreds of thousand of views, or small qanon channels with dozens of views, and occassionally the problem with woke video games with millions of views. it's a whole other level.

This seems... inefficient...

"We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at DOGE,” the agency wrote on X on Thursday. “We don’t need more part-time idea generators. We need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting. If that’s you, DM this account with your CV. Elon & Vivek will review the top 1% of applicants."

And stupid...

"This will be tedious work, make lots of enemies & compensation is zero, What a great deal!”
Yeah but if you're lucky Elon might look in your direction with the same energy as Dennis Hopper did when he dropped his phlegm on the old guy in the tanker's fuel well in Waterworld.

(I've decided to update my pop culture references)

Blue Sky is very niche. But fortunately my core group of political content is migrating quickly. You forget what was it like to read a post about history or politics and not have a troll factory underneath it. I made sure to also include stuff about authors and books when setting the algorithm this time and i'm already seeing that pay off.

The damage this turd has done is unbelievable.

How news outlets use twitter content is quite unique. It's become a standard way to release statements or make announcements. Basically a replacement for old school press releases. The fact that anyone can post any random shit on there doesn't mean news outlets automatically pick it up. The same way your typical nutjob used to send press releases to news outlets pre Internet. They just went in the bin when received.

It's a different platform to the likes of Facebook and YouTube which have a far wider reach and far better algorithms to subtly curate the content you are exposed to.

Meanwhile, in this neck of the woods, Google are tireless in their quest to get me to watch Americans tasting European Fanta.

I still don't get how the CIA/FBI and 25 other security agencies let this guy post freely when he would never have been naturalized had he not lied during the process. I know it is too late now but the fact he can have multiple citizenships and this role in the US government needs looking into in the future.

Musk sat next to Trump at Jones vs Miocic. :annoyed:
And then there was Dana, Mike Johnson, Kid Rock and RFK Jr. As well. Musk though is turning in some kind of Rasputin. For the life of my I'll never get how these cnuts turned into some type of symbol of masculinity. Though I guess if your definition of that is to be a thundercnut, then there are you shining beacons.

I would like to be that kind of loser.

So I’ve learnt from this thread that as long as you have money you’re judged a success. Makes you wonder about some people

It's not a matter of having money, but of creating value, creating jobs, disrupting complex industries
