I hate these right wing fecks using FEMA as if they ever cared about it. They're the primary reason it never had enough money to begin with bc feck regular people. Especially a platinum spoon fed elitist like Musk couldn't care less if it wouldn't score political points.
Whenever I see the term "woke mind virus", it takes a few seconds for me to realize they mean the opposite of what I think it is, i.e. the brain rot going on with people who see woke in everything. If anything is a virus in our society, it's that.
Just an example, but after searching for the trailer of upcoming game Ghost of Yotei, a game where you play as a woman, my YT is now littered with videos like "Ghost of Yotei is Exposed as Woke Disaster", "Sony Execs Furious Over Woke Ghost of Yōtei! DEI Ruins Another Game!" or "Sony made Ghost of Yotei for a mOdErN aUdIeNcE, and gamers aren't interested in NONSENSE". Genuine titles.
It's seemingly become impossible to talk about anything involving women, or god forbid any sort of diversity, without that lot turning it into a complete cesspool. How is that not the fecking virus?

Does it not seem like a conflict of interest for the owner of a social media platform to be openly supporting and campaigning for a particular candidate? Like, I know this is likely what he has been doing all this time anyway, but with it being public like this, does that not open the door for this to be illegal somehow? A platform that is "meant to be a neutral public space" being owned by someone openly campaigning for a particular candidate.

Isn't this the historical point of owning media companies? What has changed, really, if you consider it? The time spent (always latent connections) consuming media of this or that variety (and the omnipresence of analytics), but the function - to sell audiences to markets (including political markets) - has not changed.
Starry eyed recollections of the press as once free are entirely incorrect (with some exceptions - the standards have absolutely fallen across the board). It has always been a largely privately owned enterprise with private political goals (Maxwell through Murdoch to the new age of media barons which are social media conglomerates).
Has Murdoch ever been out publicly campaigning for someone? Genuinely asking because I don't know. I know that this stuff has been going on behind the scenes for a long time, it just seems weird to see it happening in the public eye. Or maybe it actually has happened out in the open and I just do not know.
He has pushed the buttons of a vast apparatus to suit his own business agenda to such an extent over decades that he does not have to appear beside this or that stooge. He just drops a bunch of koolaid about the one he has "bought" (agreed terms with..) and other koolaid against their adversaries. Same thing really.

We haven’t hated nerds for being nerds since the 90s. Nerds have been socially acceptable for decades. Cool even. He’s single-handedly undoing all that progress. I can’t watch him do anything without thinking what he really needs is bringing down a peg or too by giving him a wedgie or a purple nurple.

The “last election” comment is interesting. It’s basically what the Q-Anon movement have moved onto. Q is no more. It’s all about the deep state and the end of democracy. I only found out recently that tech bros like Musk are heavily involved in funding this set of conspiracies. That bananas movie about child trafficking was made with tech money.

I’m all over that guy. Coming Storm gets a hard recommend. It’s by the bbc and it’s great. Another brilliant podcast on similar(ish) themes with lots of Peter Theil is the NYT produced Rabbit Hole. It’s fascinating and so well made.
