Gaming Elden Ring - Fromsoftware

Radahn got nerfed more than once right? I beat the cnut in his original form solo, does that make be an elite gamer?

Absolutely. In fact if you look on the back of the Elden Ring box you'll find a coupon you can cut out and send off with a photo of your win addressed to Mr. Michael Zaki and you'll he'll send you an elite gamer badge.

I always knew I was better than everyone else, I don't need a badge to prove it

Pfft. Beat Radahn on level 1, blindfolded, no damage taken and whilst on fire and we'll talk. Bet you used a Mimic as well didn't you?

You make me sick

Fellow prepare to try viewer?

Edit: RKG now I suppose.

Not one Im familiar with actually, despite spending an unhealthy amount of time watching souls-tube videos

Interesting, I'd always thought the Michael Zaki nickname came from them, but maybe they heard it elsewhere first.

The first season of Prepare to Try, where they go through Dark Souls 1, is very entertaining (for those of us that watch an unhealthy amount of souls-tube)

Was just in the process of redownloading the game so I could finish the DLC that I just got distracted from playing half way through when I see this on Twitter!

I’ve not played Elden Ring yet but this comes across as a strange direction.

I saw this speculated on reddit but I think it makes sense based on how they've described it - the theory is that it will have a battle royale style element where there is a huge, randomised boss at the middle of the map and the idea is to explore and collect as much as possible throughout the map to help defeat the boss in the middle.

I hope it's something like that tbh, I think it can be a lot of fun if the map and randomisation is good enough.

I've read up more. So it's apparently a co-op rogue like. You join the game, either as a single player or alongside two other players, and essentially attack enemies and level up as the map gets smaller and smaller until finally facing a boss. The level up system is a lot more simple, you don't level up specific stats but get stronger in general.

I’ve seen lots of people complain about it being a cash grab, which it probably is to an extent, I doubt it will be full price and it sounds like a very fun concept to play.

Two of the most popular things in Elden Ring that it doesn’t really offer are randomizers (in the form of mods), and co-op which is fun but limited. Bringing them to the same game can only be a win.

Sounds fun, but not what I look for in a game. I'll buy it, but I very rarely bother with coop and the simplified RPG doesn't sound like my cup of tea. Feels like one to watch streamers play while I cook dinner,

One thing I will say, the AI of the bosses in Elden Ring were awful in coop. That was bearable when coop was just a side dish, but if they're making it the main course it needs sorting out.

  I can't believe I didn't see this until now. What a story that was.

This new thing looks like a cash grab to me, but one that I'll have a great time playing. As long as it isn't some subscription based crap in which case I'll pass.

Thanks for the info. You got me excited. The unhealthy amount of hours I will sink into this game mode.. My god. To me, this is the absolute perfect way to co-op in these type of games. I don't care for co-op playthroughs and doing the exact same stuff I've already done before. This being randomized is going to make it so good.

Got to Radahn last night in the dlc. Guy is fecked. Going to take some time to beat him I can tell...
Didn't have much trouble on the rest of the dlc, jagged peak was lots of fun and Bayle was a challenging fight but the rest I felt pretty good with. Never went to that area at the very top of the map, not sure how to get there. Also the very bottom I ran around and couldn't find anything, might be related to a quest I didn't do.

I think i wound up googling how to get to a couple of places. Cant imagine figuring out how to get to the top of the map on my own.
Radahn was bullshit.

Also feel like I missed a ton of the scadytree fragments. Think I'm +13 for that but +9 for the spirit summon thing. Might have to just google where to find all the ones I missed to get to 15/16 at least.

Finally beat Radahn. Broken boss, glad that's over with. Will be interested to see what the next dlc is like but I'm a bit tired of the Elden ring/dark souls formula. Think they should do a sekiro 2/Bloodborne 2 or something of that sort next. Elden ring, though amazing, is just a massive game

There won’t be another DLC.

The newly announced game is a spin off that doesn’t follow the same formula.

And I wouldn’t be surprised to see something. A bit further away from the franchise as the next mainline game.

Ohhhh i thought it was a dlc, not a new game all together. Looking forward to it more than.

Armored Core was a pretty good way to mix things up.

To prove to myself I'm still the world's best gamer at 41 I decided to try and beat this including dlc without ever summoning anyone or using spirit ashes.

I'm starting to doubt I'm still the world's best gamer at 14 :(

Finally started playing this game; took me long enough. I'm only about a dozen hours or so into it, so still hanging around in Limgrave and surrounding areas.

One of the first dungeon bosses I did was a duo demi-human boss with like a dozen adds, so I guess I quickly accepted this wouldn't be like the other From games and I'm going to use stuff like Spirit Ashes when the situation calls for it.

I'm really enjoying it though, more than I thought I would after the first few hours. The open-ended nature of the game gave me some concerns about the balancing, but I'm having fun just exploring and experimenting with Ashes of War. It's not the pure, focused experience that Bloodborne and Sekiro were but that's ok.

Ah, enjoy! It's an absolute masterpiece.

You're doing the right thing in just exploring and practicing, you end up getting stronger by doing this anyway.

Good luck!
