Gaming Elden Ring - Fromsoftware

I agree I really dislike level scaling, its just makes an entire game feel meh... you never feel under powered and you never feel over powered, everything just feels the same, the best part of games are progression and you get the best feeling of progression when you ride back through Limgrave and smash everything you can feel your progress. Going back and obliterating the tree spirit is rewarding because it felt so hopeless early. Level scaling shits all over that.

Yeah level scaling would be shit. It was so satisfying going back to Siofra and annihilating those prawn fecks.

Again, that's not the point in the video, I just accidentally linked to the video at a random thought he was having while talking about the games poor balancing in general. His suggestion was having an option to up the difficulty if you want, as per Sekiro and DS2. Even then, it's an aside in the overall argument he makes.

I wasn't on about the video just level scaling in general. Have the video saved for later.

Started a dex faith build. Catch flame makes the start so much easier than a melee build. It melts everything even if you have to basically stick your finger up the mobs arse

I’ve loaded it up again. NG+2?

What other cool builds are there?

Yeah I’ve done a dex heavy curved sword bleed build and an int sorcerer build the second time.
Any suggestions on where to get gear for the INT build? I’ve got a staff and that’s basically it at the moment.

I used Lusat’s Glintstone staff which you can get in Sellia town of sorcery after beating the boss there.

Pure Str bonk build has turned out surprisingly enjoyable and by the mid-game got more powerful than my dex int build at the same point. I never digged them in previous games but this has been fun. There are a lot of interesting colossal weapons to choose from.

Started a duel katana build. Killed Margit, Godrick and Rennala but dunno if I can be arsed actually.

Nice one thanks, how far into the game is that? Also is it just staff and talisman and I’m stuck in this Astrologer garbs forever or is there INT gear to pick up too?

I’m blitzing through the main bosses on NG+ when I’ve a bit of time. Started with a sorcery build but honestly find it really boring compared to melee so I switched back to pure melee with that colossal spinning thing and now it’s fun again. No urge to to do anything but the big bosses this time.

It’s in Caelid so you can go there whenever really. I used just a staff and wore whatever looked cool. Armour doesn’t change too much.

I've experimented all game with creating different builds, the most fun to use and actually still be a bit of challenge, is dual whips. Different infusions (frost with magic is my latest) and a nice array of combo options.

Just beat fire giant, took 3 tries I think. Black knife tiche is OP, guy needs a nerf probably. Was a very annoying fight to get him mind you.

The hero of the day for the fire giant battle for me was that giant pot guy. he took his punishment like a champ

Oh I forget, this is snowflake caf where everything has to be BESTEST EVA! and you can't point out actual flaws without fanboys clearly being butthurt.
Hehehe! I've never said I hated it though.
Yeah remember that next time! I just thought you'd stop playing it seemed you genuinely disliked it

I'm not angry, just disappointed :(

But no, there's enough to like for me to drag my arse through it and finish it. It's a FROM souls after all and though OW isn't always my thing as they can get quickly boring, they've done a great job of keeping it feeling like a souls. It's just too stale and full of balancing/design/engine issues for me to have it up there with the best soulsborne games (let alone the ridiculous reviewer/streamer hype - especially the OMG BOTW! crib note), but it's still far better than most games released. It's all relative I guess ;)

As a complete novice regarding these games, is it worth getting? I tried Bloodborne yesterday but felt a bit old and I couldn't get into it. Have no idea what game to get but It's probably either this one or Returnal.

I do like RPGs in general but I've heard that these games are difficult and I'm more of a casual gamer.

Returnal is no cake walk either.

I don't mind a challenge it's just that the Souls games have a bit of a reputation of being very difficult!
It isn’t really that difficult. If something completely destroys you you’re just underlevelled.

Damn it. Just noticed I have 31 of 42 trophies. Checked what’s missing and it’s all very gettable. New game +2 it is then.

So, this Melania blade of Miquela boss fight, huh? Bit of a cnut of a fight. Bloody hell.

I usually love a snow level but Mountaintops of the Giants is probably the most bland area in the game so far.

Yeah, seems very bland and empty. Not sure if I'm missing anything, but I just bascially plowed through it to get to the boss fights

I'm doing an Incantation scythe build, but I started over instead of NG+. It's bad ass and also, magic builds are so much easier than Melee. I roasted Margitt utterly on my first try. Though I suppose Im also a bit better at the game now.

My save file wont load anyore. Just stuck on 100% on the loading screen. Anyone had this? I'm on ps4 (lol 4 you pleb? Yes feckoff).

I beat the first version of Godfrey last night, got him on the 2nd try, was very easy.

I've been finding this a slog once I got to the Atlus Plateau and into the Capital... there's just too much to do and not getting a good sense of progression/direction. I'm level 98, I assume end game levels are around this?

I eventually just started using an interactive map and a guide to read where to go next. I hate the whole, no one tells you where to go part of open world games. Game got much better for me after I started using a roadmap.
