Gaming Elden Ring - Fromsoftware

Are these bell bearing cnuts supposed to be like super bosses or something? The one in Limgrave is way harder than anything else here.

Beat the fecker this morning! You gotta stay close to him as his long range telekinetic sword is brutal. His short range attacks are easier to deal with once you get used to his patterns (still very hard as he never gives you time to heal. Thats Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula almost wrapped up as far as bosses go. Just got that Flying Dragon to do and them I'm off to the lakes.

I'm level 40 now so maybe a tad overlevelled for the lakes. Let's see...

How do the hell do you beat alecto the ringleader to get his ashes? I'm running a bleed build but he's immune to that. he has a move that can oneshot me and I'm lvl 115.

So I found the Prelate's Inferno Crozier. Guess I'll have to farm more stones. This thing is totally my jam.

Hoping this isn't as bad as it seems: last night quit after dying (again) to fire giant, but before I'd gotten fully out of the game (alt-f4). Got the message booting up that I'd not quit properly and might have lost stuff - fine, my computer has also frozen a few times and had that happen .

But now I can't get past the loading screen (the one iwth the tips on it). The bar loads all the way, but then the game doesn't shift into gameplay mode.

Given I'm level 125, this could be the rather unsatisfying end to my Elden Ring adventure!

Edit: Ha, reading a reddit thread this is apparently a thing for those forced to force quit. Imagine, an 80+ hour save file on the 'cloud' that is now gone. Great stuff.

Nah, that’s a classic quality build. Make sure you’re using the bloodhound fang, it’s perfect for that build.
Cheers. I'd encountered that boss when I was around lvl 20 (Bloodhound Knight Darriwil) and he kicked my arse. Went back to get that sword at 25 and he's still kicking my arse... read a few comments online that he's an easy boss but I can't seem to get my shield blocks/dodges consistent!! DId he get a buff in the recent patch or am I just shite?

What weapon are you using?

Currently doing the deepwood depths. Is that the last underground area? I’ve done Ansel River and Siofra.

I have lost count of the times someone has mentioned a boss and I've been like; "Who?"

There must be 150 bosses in this game.

Yeah, if there is a criticism of the game, it's that there are too many of them. I think the main bosses stand out (at the least the ones I've seen) and are unique enough, but some of the lesser bosses are not particularly memorable. There are some decent ones, but sometimes I read comments on here about bosses people have thought and I think to myself "I've never even heard of him", only to look it up and realize that I've actually defeated him but just forgot.

Yeah the boss recycling does get tedious, and I do laugh when in end game areas you come across 3 clones of an earlier boss all stacked in a tiny room. The godskin duo fight made me want to swallow glass.

"How many times do I have to teach you this lesson, old man?"

People who put messages over sites of grace are scum of the Earth.

I got to say, the messages are out of control. I couldn't rest at a site of grace in one area because of it. I kept spamming the button but it kept bringing up the message and I couldn't swap. Had to save and reload the game then thankfully I could do it by standing in a specific area.

Also, talk about running a joke into the ground with the classic "hidden path ahead" at EVERY wall.

I’m just outside the capital. Did I just fight Margit again?

And it's effing mandatory! They are, for all intents and purposes, a 'story' boss!

feck Godskin Noble's rolling attack.

Finally fought Rykard. He's a lot of fun with that serpent spear. I assume he's pretty much impossible as a melee without it?

Just killed him too, but also overleveled probably. I didnt even bother dodging, just stabbed him to death with jumping r2's with the spear and occassionally healing.

Partisan (long spear type thing) + shield. I'm beginning to think it's my skill level  so far I've been lucky to rely on summons..
Nah he's quite tough at that level. Lots of range and bleed to boot. A big shield helps if you have trohble dodging.

Some of the end bosses are utter utter Bullsh*t. I've avoided Melania for the time being as she keeps slaughtering me and I'm focusing on the penultimate (i think) main boss and he's such a fecking cheese ball with his AoE attacks. Just relentless cheese.

I can't decide whether the difficulty level of this game is well done in the sense that it gives players options in how to approach it (NPCs, summons, friends, or 'hardcore' no help) or just extremely haphazard and blurry. The summons feel odd because they can sometimes be the difference between 20 failed attempts and a first time victory, although towards the end of the game they feel absolutely necessary and not nearly as helpful.

Before anyone says "who cares what people think, it's your choice in how to approach the game"- I get that and completely agree, but sometimes I have real difficulty judging what is fair and balanced for myself (no one else). I've completed all of Demons Souls, Dark Souls and BloodBorne and I think they had a clearer sense of balance in my opinion, even though this is probably my favourite Souls game, despite its issues.

Anyway, rant over. Back to that utter **** of a boss :D

I decided, feck Crucible knight Ordovis I'll come back in 50 levels. This was at level 50, I'm now level 110 and murdered him utterly with my giant hanmer and +9 mimic tear.

Feck you Ordovis.

I still think Malenia is the biggest piece of trash in any Souls game ever. I'm just going to complete the game without beating her and wait till she's nerfed...feck her. She's nearly broken my spirit  :(

So yeah, if you're on PC find your steam save folder and make some copies...just in case.

I did it and she's still the biggest load of crap I've ever faced in a Souls game but finally!!!! Got so lucky because she decided to use that one move I could dodge a few times over so i just spammed long range attacks until she went down. Honestly that just was not fun. The DLC final boss of Bloodborne was tough but way fairer and I can't think of a single DS1-3/BB boss that pissed me off that much or that I felt was ridiculously unfair. Maybe the second phase of that moron on BloodBorne who kept running through mirrors.

No, I did it with post-nerf Mimic. It helps if you have high Vigor - makes your Mimic tankier.

Big thanks for recommending mimic tear-As I said I was hesitant because I heard it got nerfed pretty bad recently but you were right it- helped big time. The second waterfowl movement is easier to dodge if you role toward her.

The fire giant is absolutely a cnut. I've got him down to half health in most attempts only for him to find that one time I don't time the roll to perfection and he one shots me.

Mimic tear is useless in this fight as well. Does no damage and gets killed really fast.

Beat the Wolf of Radagon or whatever it was after a couple attempts, and then Rennala on the first go. The 2nd phase on Rennala is one of the most beautiful boss arenas FromSoft have ever done imo.

Just had a transformational moment in my gaming life. Thinking I was in a safe place looked down from my screen to plug in my headset. Glancing up I saw a creeping shadow of first a spear point and then a head as an enemy came up behind me. The shadow was perfect. Not sure why but this blew my mind.

I was so annoyed when the 2nd phase of renalla battle started and I was one shotted with a laser while trying to call wolf spirits. Took about 8 more tries to finally finish it

Completed it and thanks to the PS+ save I've got the platinum  187 hours of game time, level 175.

I'd give the game a 9 out of 10 and put it level with Bloodborne in terms of my fave Souls games. I can't remember another open world that made me want to explore absolutely everything and the atmosphere and design of the world is just different class. The sheer scale of it and the meaningful exploration puts all those other crappy open world adventures to shame and I wonder if this will be a bit of a game changer in the way Witcher 3 was in terms of inspiring copycats.

The few issues I have were some repetitive bosses and some ludicrously difficult ones; explaining the games difficulty is a hard task: the summons can be the difference between twenty attempts of frustration and a quick win but the end game bosses ramp up the difficulty to the extreme no matter what approach you take. I'm not a particularly skilled player at all but i get through these games through persistence and pattern recognition/timing. A few of the bosses though were just pure, absolute luck in terms of getting the victory.

My best of list would now probably be:
Bloodborne/Elden Ring
Dark Souls 1
Dark Souls 3
Dark Souls 2
Demon's Souls
