Edward Woodward

Our approach has been awful. Glazers are pretty ruthless, they won't be happy that he has costed them 5m extra.

I can't imagine him staying in charge of transfers for long.

Expecting a director of football to be appointed pretty soon.

Director of Football is only there to identify targets, not do the deals.

Spurs' technical director is Baldini, but Levy is the chairman and still does the deals.

I'm willing to bet he has a better CV than anyone on this forum; he is a bright guy. I don't think we've done well in this transfer window but I'm fairly sure there are reasonable explanations for things like the release clause.

I'm amazed that he got the job in the first place really. All we know about him was his incompetence and looking like an amateur this summer, and judging by that... how the feck did he become the chief executive at arguably the biggest club in the world?

Then I expect us to get someone in who can close the fecking deals, because Woodward's now a proven tit. It can't be denied.

He's made our club and Moyes look like absolute cocknuggets.

Why has edward woodward got so many d's in his name? Because if he didnt he would be called ickhea

Fergie said get behind the manager, that's our job. that means united too. We should support United as much as possible.

He's the top trend on Twitter - not too many complimentary tweets I can see :smirk:

I guess going by our marketing department, it seems he's now got over 600 million people pissed off at him :wenger:

It sounds like he's brilliant at negotiating sponsorship deals. Perhaps he should stick to what he knows best and let someone more capable negotiate player transfers?

I feel for the guy as he appears out of his depth.

If it comes to light that this guy is the reason we have missed out on all our top targets and ended up paying way over the odds for our back up option Fellaini, then he has to resign or be sacked, simples.

But seriously, this was one of the worst summer transfer windows ever for us. Only two signings, one of which is an inexperienced right back...

If they wanted him to do this, I think they have severely underestimated just how pissed the average fan is with the state of the club. They need stability to keep getting their high sponsorship revenue, and this level of incompetence will see the Glazer Out campaigns become more prevalent again.

They don't give a shit - as long as the stadium is full and shirts are sold then there's no problem, which is the case. I'd imagine they'll be happy with 3rd place and if they get it with spending less than people would hope, even better.

I think David Gill needs to have a word. It's his first window so we shouldn't expect a smooth operation. But from the outside he's looked so clueless.

You'll get no joy with a limp Woody

Clearly not cut for the football side of the football business. Stick him back on seeking sponsorships and find someone who understands the football side of the executive positions!

I really hope this cnut loses his job. It will be unbelievable if he manages to keep it after embarrassing the club like he has.

We don't know the full story this summer, I'm sure mistakes have been made but I also suspect there are reasonable explanations for our activity (or lack thereof). We know that he has been remarkably successful on the commercial side of Utd and before he came to the club he occupied high-powered roles with distinction. It seems perfectly reasonable to have made him Chief Executive.

So much anger I don't know where to direct it. Sense of helplessness and annoyance we've been reduced to what we've seen today. Deeply disturbed he's calling the shots.

What could possibly be a reasonable explanation for spending 4 million pounds more for Fellaini then what we could have done anytime before August, hassle free? That's not a small amount of money by any means. Even right at the start, we let the Thiago stuff run like crazy and make it seem like we'll sign him only for nothing to happen. The Fabregas stuff was pointless and shouldn't have been made public like it was. David Gill and Sir Alex would really never have let this happened, or anything to this extent. You simply can't do what this inept feck has done this summer at a club like United and get away with it.

Can actually see Woody walking after this, not only because of the abuse from fans but I'm sure he hasn't shown himself in a glowing light to other clubs...

Maybe just wishful thinking.

This thread is so RAWKish it should probably be shut. One of those rare times in human history when something gets so RAWK it needs to be taken from view and incinerated..

feck that - people are upset for good reason. I hate this spouting of 'RAWK' whenever fans show rage (especially in this case, when it's more than justified.)

I don't trust this cnut to renegotiate deals with Januzaj, Rooney, Vidic, Nani etc.

I'm actually worried we'll lose all the above players if we leave it to Ed to sort things out.

One man in 'doing his job and millions of people don't like it' shocker.

He's not done his job very well has he? Missed out on Cesc, Baines, Herrera. Might not have got Coentrao done. Paid more than the release clause for Fellaini.

Making statements like: "We haven't got money burning a hole in our pocket but we have got a strategy on player purchases and if David wants to go after a stellar player he can do that,' he said." And then baulking at a few million pounds when it came to Herrera. Great strategy Ed.

Are you his boss? Are you reviewing his performance? You don't know as much as I don't know how well he has done.

He'll be gone out of this role pretty sharpish...
He hasn't exactly put the club in a good light, he's cost our very ruthless owners a needless 5 million and he's handicapped our manager severely in this window.

Glazer man or not, do you honestly think they're gonna stand by a man who cost them 5million? Fergie yeah but no one else

Lets hope this shithead gets fired tomorrow, regardless of who is to blame, its his responsibility to get the players the manager wants. He has failed and made the club a laughing stock.

And you'd be most generous to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's CEO, he's paid to get things done. Any big organisation would sack his sorry ass soonest.
