I just don't understand. Ultimately every single thread on a football forum is futile. Discussing tactics is futile as we have no input; discussing potential transfers, incoming or outgoing, is pointless as we don't have a clue; it's unnecessary to rate players after games as they won't give a shit. Why talk about anything then?

The exchange I was involved with centred around me taking issue with the idea that what the guy was saying was 'an educated guess', when it clearly wasn't. I followed up with pointing out that his basing his theory on what he had read in the paper was flawed logic, seeing as the papers don't know dick about why Woodward has returned from tour.
In this specific instance (the topic of this thread) nobody knows what the hell is going on, and claiming otherwise is nonsense. This is my only point, which I thought I had made quite clear in my initial post. The concept of a forum is one I'm quite familiar with, and I don't believe I have told anyone that they shouldn't discuss things, I have simply offered up my opinion on the futility of this particular discussion.

I said 'educated guess' because i tried to have a go at why i think he's come back. That is an educated guess based on the information (or lack of) that we have at hand whether that be the press or whatever.
If i said 'well he's come back urgently because he's got a cat that needs feeding and some dry cleaning to pick up' then that's totally different.
If i'd said 'a guess based on the stuff we know from the papers which may or may not be true' it would have been the exact same thing. I know i said 'educated' but if you take issue with the fact that i used a certain phrase then you're far too pedantic.
I thought football forums were supposed to be places to discuss bullshit? Far too many people on here picking holes in things, whether to make themselves look clever, start an argument or whatever.

If you say it's most likely Fellaini/Baines/Garay because of what the press are reporting, then it's as likely to be Fabregas or Bale, because the press are reporting them too. In fact, if that's your basis for it being an educated guess then it's more likely to be Fabregas than Fellaini, since the press have reported we've put in a bid for one and not for the other.
Yes but there's been talk that Fellaini and Baines might come together as one huge bid and Garay has been reportedly close for a while.
I think if he's rushed back it's something that cannot be done over the phone, which could be something to do with terms or final offers or whatever.
Bale is apparently still at the pre-bid stage and the Fabregas thing apparently needs a bigger bid. I don't see why he'd fly back purely to put in bids, unless it's to sit down face to face with some chairman to thrash it out, but we're led to believe those deals aren't that far along yet.
And in either case my original point was that i couldn't see how it would be for Bale. The other players mentioned were more an afterthought.
