Edward Woodward

Yesterday afternoon we learnt that Woodward was leaving the tour.

We have learnt absolutely nothing since then, and yet this thread has grown by 782 posts.

Phew. That saved me some time.

The Equalizer?

The Equalizer is an American television series that ran for four seasons, initially on CBS, between 1985 and 1989. It stars Edward Woodward as a middle aged retired intelligence officer with a mysterious past who helps people in trouble

This is probably angering and confusing Wazza hearing there is transfer news going on that he does not know the details of.

Fergie kidnapped Woodward at the airport didn't he. He's got previous with Berbatov, it was only a matter of time before Fergie acted to stop the rumours.

I reckon he has slept enough on the plane.

Not if he's anything like me... On a 10 hour(+) flight, I'm extremely lucky if I can get 3 hours of actual sleep. I just keep waking up the whole time, feeling more and more shitty. Eventually I just say "feck it", ask the flight attendands for some whisky, and spend the rest of the flight watching movies.

I imagine it's quite different in first/business class!

I don't think it's for Bale - why would he have needed to rush back for Bale? That wouldn't make any sense, it's not as if Bale's agent or Spurs have given us a green light while he's been in Sydney and now he had to come back urgently to wrap it up.

I think this is Garay, Baines or Fellaini, which would be massively underwhelming.

Could be for Fabregas/Modric, but i doubt it.

Anyway, even if he gets back and to business today i doubt we're gonna hear anything until at least tomorrow night.

Why would he have to rush back for Baines/Fellaini/Garay? What could be so urgent with those deals that they couldn't wait to be tied up next week since he was due back on Sunday anyway?

They are good players and if we pursued or are pursuing their srrvices, we probably would be quite alarmed if something has happened that required the deal to be wrapped up asap.

How do you know what Bale's agent has or hasn't said directly to the club?

How are they any different to Bale? Have their agents all given us some kind of green light that I've missed?

Could be for Fabregas/Modric, but i doubt it.

Why?

This time yesterday we were talking about signing Mata :( Such an anti-climax to the muppetry.

I have a sneaky feeling that this could be about Fab. In Irwin I trust.

As far as we know, no other clubs are sniffing around the other three.

Whereas with Bale or Fabregas there might be a window of opportunity. Say Barca want to buy Thiago Silva on Monday for example and want 35m in used 50s this weekend. Or Madrid have been given permission to talk to Bale (officially).

Dunno, but i think personally it would be a bit weird for Bale's agent to just randomly let us know that he's open to a move. Him rushing back suggests to me that something needs to be signed/arranged in person/discussed in person. Just don't see why someone who we've not really been linked to at all would contact us. Let's say for instance it was Bale's agent, to me that would mean that the player himself has indicated he wants the move, to me that would be a 'rush back' situation, but according to everyone Bale's pretty comfortable with where he's at at the minute. This is all just my opinion of the situation of course, but i suppose if we've enquired about Bale and been told it's a no-go, but now the player has had a change of heart this is what could have happened.

Was an educated guess. See above.

Well we've been more strongly linked to those players and have bid for at least one of them. Maybe we've been given indication that someone's ready to thrash out terms, something which is hardly doable on the phone, hence him wanting to rush back to do it in person.

Just being pessimistic.

I can't shake the image of Fergie going all malcolm tucker in Manchester somewhere yesterday when all this Chelsea stuff came out and getting on the phone to ewar woowar giving it "Oi Woodward you Leaky receding c*nt get your self back to Manchester and sort this sh!tstorm out before I marshal, all the media forces of Darkness, to hound you, to an assisted suicide"

Might have watched too much of The Thick of it lately and got too much sun too perhaps...

Might account for your shocking use of punctuation as well.

Would be hilarious if him and Moyes just sit there discussing new ways to cock-tease transfer muppets. Wonder what they're going to come up with next... the only person left to titilate us about is Ronaldo..

That's not an educated guess, it's just a normal, run-of-the-mill wild one.
So do you have any opinions of your own or are you here purely to rubbish other people?

To go from not being in for Bale, to Woodward rushing back even though he was due back in 5 days anyway, simply to put a bid in for Bale, doesn't seem likely to me when we could have gotten someone here to put a bid in by fax/email etc. For him to rush back suggests to me that it's not simply a bid, which if the papers are to be believed is all we're about to do for Bale. To rush back seems like something a bit more final needs to be sorted.

That's not a wild guess, it's a guess which has tried to weigh up the situation as i see it. But feel free to tell everyone what you think of the situation.

I don't see anything to actually have an opinion on.

All that has happened is that the CEO has come back from the tour to attend to some business. From that small snippet of information the media and our own resident muppets have gone full retard. There is speculation about speculation, largely driven by twitter as well as the mainstream media. To believe what you read in the papers and then call what you come up with 'educated' is just nonsense.

Nobody outside of probably 3 or 4 people know why Eddy has come back.
