Edinson Cavani

Not confirmed, but a lot of tweets saying he has chosen PSG over Shitty and Chelski. See if something more solid turns up in the morning, but a big loss for Chelsea if true I feel.

Not too sure Rooney and Cavani would be playing the same position. Cavani would almost certainly be right up top and Rooney could be one of the attacking players behind, competing with the likes of Pastore

Think it is more a case that PSG are the only club who are willing to cough up the money they want.

Well considering PSG is the most likely destination for Rodney, I'd also assume that means he'll be staying.

Probably more chance that Chelsea will be in for him.

Read somewhere that Zlatan wants to follow Ancelotti to Madrid, hence PSG are in for Cavani. Could be an interesting turn of events. Chelsea/City/PSG in the $$$ battle

Don't rate him as highly as some but fair play to Ibra if he ends up at R.Madrid. Means he would of played at Ajax, Juve, Inter, AC Milan, Barca and them! Not bad at all!

Problem for him though is while R.Madrid's football will be more easier than Barca's for him to adapt to, he'll be playing second fiddle to C.Ronaldo and that won't sit well with his ego. I suppose he could leave after a season and join a few PL clubs to complete his CV!

True true, it would be amusing to watch the clash of the egos, though at least Zlatan won't be pushed out wide to accommodate him etc. Can you imagine a free kick situation with both CR and Ibra standing there?

I doubt PSG would sell him 1 year after buying him either & if you take his wages into account...definitely can't see CR being happy. But other then that, I'm not sure why else the Cavani to PSG rumors have surfaced. They're sorted up front. Oil money ey.

It's beautifully ironic seeing the sugar daddies gazumping Chelsea.

Sugar daddies are helping us out this year. At stages it seemed inevitable that Falcao would end up at Chelsea, hopefully the same happens with Cavani.

Cavani's worth nowhere near his buyout clause, I'm not surprised no-one's paid it yet.

Agree with that. Done the business in Italy but its not the standard it was in my opinion. Watched him a bit for Uruguay at the confederations cup and didn't look all that impressive.

Good player but they're talking about huge money.

All but official , Cavani to PSG is a reality.64 millions euros  is his release clause and PSG have matched it. Only his agreement is needed now.
Do you guys think he could play and link up well with Zlatan (if he stays) ?

2 of the most highly sought after strikers in the world, at the height of their careers, moving the the French league.

And they say money is ruining football.

Pleased that City and Chelsea didn't get him. Now what other strikers are left in the market for them now? Lewandoski? Soldado? I imagine we wouldn't sell Rooney to both of them

Although I'd have loved him at Chelsea I actually like seeing talent spread across leagues. The only way the French league can become desirable is by getting players such as Cavani and Falcao. Others will follow.

Agreed. It's obviously not as good as having the top players spread equally across different clubs within different countries but it is at least a small step back in that direction. I'm not saying having billionaires bankrolling clubs is a positive thing but I do think this is one positive aspect of it. PSG certainly made the Champions League more interesting and competitive this year. Obviously we'd all prefer if teams developed organically like Dortmund in different countries instead but that doesn't seem likely.

Now we are heavily linked with Suarez instead. That worries me.. and Ivanovic

Not really, just seems to echo all the stories so far and states he has one foot already there.

The story is also two days old so I doubt my French is failing me.

Signed five year deal, apparently PSG paid the full release fee.

What is up with the Premier League.. A bit hit a miss with these big names this season. Ha Ha City and Chelsea though!! Hopefully bumps Rooney's price up.

Wow so another player going to France, they seem to be the teams willing to pay above the odds for players currently. They have Falcao, Ibrahimovic and Cavani in that league three of the very best strikers will be playing in France much even more interest to the league this season.

It's that word project again....

"The transfer of Edinson Cavani is further proof of the club's ability to attract the best players in the world," said PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

"The player was seduced by the club's sporting project and is delighted to be joining an ambitious side, impatient to take on new challenges.

"We are especially happy to present such a hugely coveted player of immense talent to our supporters."

Very pleased to see him at PSG though

Cavani, Ibra, Lavezzi, Silva, Pastore, Verratti, Motta - Serie A is making the most of PSG anyway.

It's no wonder players choose Paris, it's a beautiful city and must be absolutely fantastic one to live in when you're a millionaire, in terms of history and prestige PSG isn't far behind City and Chelsea either and they offer top dollar too. City and Chelsea, both of whom need a top striker (especially Chelsea) are slowly running out of options.

As many have said, at least he didn't end up at any of our rivals. I think this will see Ibra move to either City or Real.

PSG will be a big threat in the CL this season. They really should have taken Barca out and reached the SF last year.
