By some distance the biggest pile of horseshite I've heard all summer. Yeah, let's break our transfer record to sign someone who is going to make RVP less effective. Just feck off with these strikers, it's ridiculous.

If we are paying £50m for anyone it should be Gareth Bale.
 
Could of at least come up with something half as good as SANCHEZTER UNITED for this absolutely nothing in it story.

In all honesty....his agent might not even know. Doesn't say deal is done, if Chelsea have offered £53m, then we all know Napoli have accepted......contract talks come after.

Either that or his agent trying to lure other clubs into making serious bids. We're always used to drive deals.
 
Lewy now has heart set on moving to Bayern, and i suspect we would only be interested if Rooney decided to leave or was told to leave.
 
This is a mad saga but im confident he wouldnt go to United, or rather United wouldn't really make a record bid for him. Strikers is not something you lack, in fact it was the very thing that having a world class set of dug you out of trouble again and again last season.
 
If we sign Cavani I will film myself eating the new Utd shirt. This will not happen.

Sums up my view too. Cavani is a good player, no doubt. But for that type of money i would pick Bale every time, i think he could be fantastic for us.
 
really now? Cavani to United? what won't they come up with?...I mean I get that nobody's going to get every story right and that you need something "juicy" to make profit but c'mon, atleast put some effort into making things believable and not batshit crazy from the get go.
 
Alan Nixon in the mirror should be made to quit over this one. Pathetic non story, and half hearted, no real knowledge, just ridiculous speculation, no doubt fuelled by Cavani's agent!

The annoying thing, is that if we do end up buying some big player, papers like the Mirror will make out they told us first, when really they've linked us with 200 different players
 
Radio Marte, official football Radio channel in Napoli , have today reported that Napoli and Chelsea have come to an agreement over the sale of striker Edinson Cavani.

Not sure how reliable but it does make sense, I'd say...

Tancredi Palmeri is a terribly unreliable journalist. Definitely wise to be cautious. I'd be surprised if you paid the £52 million, it's an awful lot of money and I don't think he's worth that amount.
 
52 is a bit much 40-45 would be right imo. A few transfers over the years have thrown the market out of wack.
 
Not saying Cavani isn't a good player, but I don't rate him as highly as the majority of the footballing world does. Think he's a bit clumsy.

He's not the most technically gifted, but scoring so many goals in a league like Serie A where defence comes first is pretty amazing.

Jose ,loves a big target man. Drogba wasnt the best technically either and we all know how that ended up!
 
Big hard working target man who can score goals, seems like the perfect replacement for Drogba.
 
Yep, obviously Drogba was in a class of his own in this respect but still over the past couple of years I've watched Cavani play and thought what a beast and he powers past defenders to head home or something. Different player but maybe the closest of the world's top strikers right now.
 
Cavani looks good in that video, but I don't think I've ever seen a compilation of a player where one of his teammates looks even more impressive than him. Some of Hamsik's passes were exceptional.
