Eden Hazard

101 goals now for us. Said he wants to become a legend like JT, Lampard & Drogba after the game but also said he’d decide on future in the summer later in the day. Either way he’s not far from legend status with us and by far our most talented ever player.

10 goals 9 assists in the league - he makes so many chances for others that aren’t taken too, it’s pretty annoying. If it wasn’t for a ridiculous season from VVD, he’d be a shoe in for POTY at this point this season.

Assist count would have been so many more, if we had a proper striker up-front. A Drogba or a Costa in their primes with hazard providing, would have been mouth watering for the fans.

Anyone else think he was incredible last night? The balance, control and ability to turn was mesmerising. Seemed to be play as if he was angry

I liked his performance. To me, he seemed to be motivated, he showed great composure and class.
He was the potential x-factor Spurs could not control entirely.

Is it me alone hat thinks he looks a bit slower than when he first came?

He's outstanding. One of the greatest players of this decade and anyone who argues otherwise because of goal statistics can feck off. Luis Figo scored 30 goals in 172 matches for Barca and 36 in 164 for Real.

Honestly at this point I don’t see any reason for him to move elsewhere.
Chelsea have got a good chance of winning big trophies in the next 5 years, he’s loved there, settled, and there’s no guarantee he would win bigger things at Madrid, they’re in for a major rebuilding job.

Although I agree he's the best player in the PL when in form, but his return as a forward the last seasons have been poor. If he adds more goals and assists in his game, thing that he has been doing this season, he'd be a favorite for BO.

Not even close.
Messi,Ronaldo,Suarez,Xavi,Iniesta,Robben,Drogba,Neur are all better

He was instrumental in our 2 league wins. Not saying he single handedly won us the league but was key in both title winning seasons. He takes crazy amount of hits and is key our play.

He has played in managers who wernt really attacking and under Saari his G+A output has improved a lot.

This decade is 2010-2019

Xavi and Drogba did very little for the majority of this decade (after 2012).

The rest is all true, but I can still call him that. I also call Beckham one of the greatest players of the 90s, despite there being a fair few players who were better (Ronaldo, Zidane, Maldini, Keane, Baggio, Rivaldo, Stoichkov, Redondo, Laudrup). We don't need to discuss about every single name there. He just belongs into that group.

We have an obsession with goal stats in this period of football which is a shame

Wouldnt this decade be 2009/2019?
And i still cant agree.

For someone thats so "great" hes only really ever had one truely great season. A very good one. And a couple of average ones.

He hasnt really been anything special in the Champions League or for country at big tournaments either.

Great player yes but one of the greatest this decade? No chance.

He had one bad season, Jose's third season meltdown at Chelsea. The rest were either very good or great.

He also won the silver ball at the world cup. The only player from your list who won the golden ball was Messi, and that was a highly controversial choice.

I thought he was rather inefficient yesterday. When Chelsea's attacking play gets stagnant his ball hogging tendencies become too much. But it's not like he held up an otherwise well working offensive flow either.

Which he,if we are going to be honest shouldnt have won.
Like i said he hasnt been anything special at big tournaments.

He had the top rating on WhoScored and squwaka for the World Cup, most people were saying he should have won the golden ball. He was the only Belgian to show up vs France. He created clear cut chances in every single game he was involved in everything good Belgium did. Do you watch games blindfolded or?

Can you not read.
I said he was nothing special.
I watched every single game and he had a good/decent World Cup but no way did he deserve to win the silver boot considering the many players who were better than him.

People conflate his fancy dribbling, beating a few players and hogging the ball with actually turning up. No goals or assists vs france in the semis. No goals or assists vs Brazil in the quarters.

Honestly dont even think he was Belgiums best player let alone the best player at the World Cup

I guess you are the one who cannot read.

“Many players better than him” he was literally 1v11 vs France in the semis but according to you, because he didn’t score or assist he was rubbish. I’d love for you to shed some light on who these many players that were better than him were.

Asides from the World Cup - He’s a 1 man offence for his club, statistically the best dribbler in Europe over the last 5 years, 3rd for chances created over the last 5 years in top 5 leagues. Made over 20 more chances than any other player in the Prem in 2018 despite barely taking set pieces and being well below par, according to most pundits, last season (which is half of 2018).

Pointless even attempting to get you to open your eyes anymore. Have fun watching football once Messi is gone and players aren’t getting 50 goals and assists a season.

Not even sure how thats relevant to the obsession with goals and those who says he isn't because of his goal record.

I think he's wasted at Chelsea tbh. Sure he's won 2 PL, 1 FA Cup, 1 League Cup and 1 Europa League but he's up there with the best PL of all time (in terms of ability). That haul doesn't match his quality imo.

He also has spent the majority of his time at Chelsea under shite management that doesn't suit his style. Jose & Conte at defensive coaches and Sarri doesn't exactly look like a coach for him either. Think Juventus or Bayern would be a perfect club for him, could win everything and have a chance every year at the CL. He won take either of those teams to the next level.

Still gutted we wouldn't pay his agents fee to get him here. Lets face it, at the time we were much more appealing that Chelsea who fluked the CL and finished 7th?

Hmmm, can't you remember the World Cup? Hazard was easily the best player until their exit.

Easily might be a stretch, he was certainly up there with Modric.

Modric,Mbappe,Pogba,Varane,Kante,Greizman were all better than him.

Modric - similar level, maybe Modric slightly better
Mbappe - debatable
Pogba - You are taking a piss here
Varane - As above
Kante - No
Griezmann - Again, highly debatable

While you are at it, you might as well put the entire France team ahead of hazard.
And also, Harry Kane, scorer of 5 goals, which is the all important stats for some

Modric,Mbappe,Pogba,Varane,Kante,Greizman were all better than him.

Kante was incredibly bad in the final, for that alone he wasn't better than him.

Griezmann had great statistics because his set piece delivery lead to many goals and because he was diving all over the place. His general play has been a bit disappointing tbh. If you are a stats nerd, then he is your guy.

Mbappe went in and out of games and only had 2 were he was really good (Argentina and Croatia), which were against genius defenders such as Rojo, Lovren and Vida.

Hazard was great regardless of statistics, but if that is really all you can talk about, then I don't see how 5 scorers (3 goals 2 assists) in 6 matches is anything worthy to criticize.

I can hndeunders if he stays but I just want to see him move, to see if he can elevate his game.

I actually think he's left it too late to move now. Obviously he can move to Real this summer but they're now in a stage of major rebuilding, for him to elevate his game he needed to move when Ronaldo was there and when Kroos and Modric were at their best.

Not convinced that Hazard and Sarri don't match, like some say. After all, Hazard played the best football I've seen from him up until a few games ago. Both in terms of end product (goal/assist every ~75 minutes until Boxing Day) and passing (more effective in the final third due to more & better options). So I thought for most parts of this season he finally had what was missing under Chelsea's defense first coaches in the past.

Unbelievable player, he is probably the best dribbler after Messi.

It just feels like he has another level to go and maybe in a different league he can get there. If he does leave, Chelsea will have to spend a lot of money to get someone even close to his level.

Yup. It's just a pity he's had no help at all in the last month

Put him next to someone like Benzema and Bale and he could be unplayable

I doubt Chelsea would have sold, but Barca should have thrown that Neymar money Hazard's way.

Probably the best player they could have replaced Neymar with - style wise and complimenting Messi/Suarez (Hazard would open space for them both - especially Messi, and he wouldn't be too fixated on goals, but rather providing them).

Been wasted at Chelsea overall imo. Still absolutely brilliant but if he had been here under SAF or Madrid or Barca he would have gone up another few levels.

Probably why he is seeking a move. He has been flirting with Real Madrid for the past half a year.

Been a fair amount of tension between him and Sarri in the last week or so. Sarri has questioned his desire and said 'he is not a leader', to which Hazard replied 'I don't care what the manager says'. Sarri hit back with 'he can leave if he wants to. He has the potential to be the best player in Europe, sometimes he's happy with something less'.

Hazard didn't look good at all last night. Downed tools and on his way to getting yet another manager sacked?

That manager sounds like he's trying to be sacked. He moved his best player out of his best position which lead to a predictable loss of form and now he's throwing his toys out the pram.
