Duncan Castles : Jose Mourinho on collision course with Ed Woodward over Manchester United transfers

Jose would fit in with a lot of people on here, no patience.

If you get to the season start and we've still only signed one player then I'd have a moan. But not on July 3rd.

Same sort of article from late June last year.
Luckhurst just shared this article from last summer saying pretty much the same thing, standard Mourinho tactic to get what he wants.

Or we could chase targets that are not very difficult to obtain from clubs who are not selling clubs

He's not asking for Neymar and Messi though is he? He's been linked with Perisic from a cash strapped Inter Milan and a Real Madrid squad player who they secretly want to sell to fund their Mbappe bid. The players are there and fee's have been set, it seems Ed doesn't want to pay up at the moment.

If the board aren't prepared to back Mourinho's judgement, because of mistakes that Moyes and Van Gaal made, then we might as well give up any hopes of winning major titles again until we get a new board.

Yeah, i agree with that. It's fair enough for the likes of us to question potential signings, but the board brought the manager in and they have to either back his judgement or get rid.

I'm glad he's saying something. We clearly need better players, why dilly dally?

It's typical that the same people who mock Duncan Castles for bein "up JM arse" and "Jose's mouthpiece" are the same people who have a go at the "muppets" who are concerned about things that don't seem to be happening or happening in the current window and are the same people trying to dismiss article which is from that same "mouthpiece".

You will always get people who panick and jump overboard at the slightest sign of trouble and those who stick their head in the sand and arrange deck chairs on the titanic.

There are only 2 options availagle here:

1) Woodward and the board are having a mare (may circumatances we will neve be privy to)
2)Castles is no longer the puppet being fed by Jose

it really isnt

And I follow very little transfer news.

But I know trying to get players from Real, Chelsea and Inter isnt going to be easy
Trying to get any good player isn't going to be easy. Because they're good and as such, in demand. That's kind of the point.

We could sign shitty players if you like. I imagine that would be pretty easy.

If Jose doesn't deliver on the boards expectations he will be blamed and sacked.

If Ed doesn't deliver on the managers expectations it's because 'Jose is getting his excuses ready early'.

Jose has given Ed the list months ago of how he wants to improve the team and he is rightly annoyed that there has been no movement on multiple fronts and he will have less time to bed the players into the squad and get them settled for the new season. He is completely justified.

Jose should be annoyed

Ed Woodward would love Mourinho to be like half the people on here "mehhh it's only July mehhh" but that's the sort of attitude that only leads to failure.

Woodward is doing a horrible job this Summer. One signing, US tour days away and apparently he's still on a beach in New Zealand.

what if Woodward is relaxing with his feet up on one of the many beaches in NZ safe in the knowledge that all our business has been completed :nervous:

No, but these clubs are still never going to sell easily at this stage and are in no rush at all to do so

And Im glad woodward isnt paying silly money for them

Perhaps Jose should have been more savvy with his list of targets

'Nothing is being done for transfers'

Really? Do we really believe this?
No. Even if Ed was not doing something, others would be. He is not a one man show. Think things are happening. The press is frustrated because they have no idea what is going on and they don't like it.

Failing to sign Jose's targets is a recipe for disaster. Mourinho is a d*ck. Don't think he's the right man for us long term. He'll turn the club upside down if doesn't get it his way.

The press clearly have no fecking clue what we're doing transfer wise. Funny how all of the ones who went all out on the Matic signing and got it completely wrong last week are now covering their tracks and pinning the blame on Woodward - and in the process creating the story of Jose falling out with Ed. They need to sell / get their clicks for United related news somehow!

I see it differently. If Mou think that he'll find a club that will give him full autonomy, no questions asked then he should retire from football. No one will give him such autonomy ever. He's not in a position to really demand anything considering that we gave him a job after he was sacked by Chelsea and he went on spending so many millions just to win the league cup and its European equivalent.

In the past years we've seen United committing many many mistakes from relying on the old guard which forced the likes of Drinkwater and Pogba to leave right to appointing a rookie just because he's SAF mate and bringing in players who were signed simply because they were the manager's pet.

I believe that Ed is doing the right thing here. He's adding people who understand football (ex Ribalta) and who will give him an idea whether the manager is being reasonable or not. 80m for a benchwarmer, 40m for Chelsea's reject and another 50m for a 28 year old winger whose hardly world class is crazy.

It might just be a call to action given we leave on tour in a week, with the aim to get a couple in beforehand? Pay the extra £5/10m for Morata/whoever etc and just get it done.

Wow, you guys actually believe all that's in the article? Is there any reason for that faith?

Because people have convinced themselves everything wrong in the world is Woodwards fault, so they latch on to anything they can use to bitch about him. If only we had a DOF instead other clubs would just fall over themselves to give us their players as fast as possible without negotiations (and the DOF would only want players the caf approve of obviously), and would sell them all for £50 and a pack of crisps.

You do know Castles is Jose's mouthpiece, right?

Don't piss Woody off. He'll get the PayPal app out now. Watch out muppets, we're signing everyone now.
