How is 20m for him reasonable?

Gremio wanted £21 million before he did anything

He's gone to europe and done well for a new club, helped them impress and progress far into the champions league and yet the price has gone down almost £4 million

Harry wants £80m for Bale.
Sao Paolo want the same for Lucas da Silva ( https://www.redcafe.net/f9/lucas-da-silva-321691/ )

Clubs over-hyping their players to get more money is not a surprise. The fact is he was sold for £5m.

From what little I've seen of him, I dont think he is worth that kind of money and would be very surprised if anyone paid that much for him at the moment.

Sold before doing anything, with a huge sell on clause.

He's now done something. Thats the difference. At Gremio he scored on his debut and after that he wasnt scoring and he wasnt creating goals. Thats when he moved

Since then he's become one of Shaktar's better players in a season they've got to the quarter finals of the champions league. They may even have got further had they not drawn Barcelona. Its a reasonable fee.

i never brought up the 21m Gremio were asking for him. That was a silly valuation. He was sold for what he was worth.
And his sell on fee, from whatever i've read outside the caf, is 15-20%. Very common and not really huge.

Had a quick look at the shakhtar forum(official site-forum-google translate) and from what I can understand, they arent too happy with his attitude, someone thinks he is too weak and another wanted him to start from the bench. Only read 2 pages..
And from what I've seen, which isnt much, I dont think he is worth 20m.

He might turn into a great player. But is 20m reasonable .. not sure

Premier League - City poised to bid for Costa
Thu, 05 May 11:23:00 2011

Manchester City look poised to launch a bid for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Douglas Costa.

The 20-year-old has been repeatedly linked with Manchester United and was invited as a guest of the club to watch the 1-0 win over Bolton in March.

But it now looks as though rivals City will pip their neighbours to the signature of the Brazilian, with his agent Cesar Bottega also confirming that Serie A side Napoli are in the chase.

"I have spoken a few times with Manchester City," he told notiziariosportivo.com.

"They have shown interest in the player and are now considering whether to enter into a negotiation or not.

"I am planning a trip to Europe in a fortnight, but if something were to change I'm ready to leave earlier."

In regards to the interest shown from Serie A, he added: "Napoli have followed the player's performance in the Champions League, then I don't know if there were concrete contacts, I have not been contacted.

"Logically, they will first, in any case, contact the company."

Did we invite him?

Let City have him.

No lazy journalism. It was a case of mistaken identity

Silva > Costa. No point.

Costa plays on the right at the moment, probably more likely to be competition for Johnson

Silva would more likely continue to be picked on the left (and go and play centrally) with Kolarov continuing to bomb on as the left winger

Arsenal have been rebuffed in an attempt to sign Shakhtar Donetsk ace Douglas Costa, according to the player's agent.

The Brazil Under-20 midfielder caught the eye for the Ukrainian side this season during their run to the Champions League quarter-finals and has been linked with a move away this summer.

And, speaking to Calciomercato.com, his agent Cesar Bottega has claimed that Arsenal have approached Shakhtar with a swap deal involving out-of-favour midfielder Denilson.

The 23-year-old has announced his desire to leave the Emirates after failing to cement a place in the Gunners' midfield and will almost certainly depart before the start of the season.

It had been reported that Arsenal have already offered Denilson in a swap deal for fellow Shakhtar midfielder Willian, who is also Brazilian.

But Douglas Costa's agent now thinks that Arsenal are after a different Samba star from the club's ranks - but they won't get him unless they pay up.

Bottega said: "The Gunners have offered the club Denilson in exchange for Douglas but Shakhtar said no. They are not interested in Denilson and would want only money."

"We see you like Brazilians. Well, we have a Brazilian we don't like anymore and have decided we like your Brazilians instead, would you like to swap our Brazilian for one of yours? No? How about that other Brazilian you have then?"

Sounds like a slave trade :nervous:

The agent of Shakhtar Donetsk star Douglas Costa admits interest from England has dried up.

Manchester United and Chelsea were in contact with Cesar Bottega during the summer market for the young Brazilian.

But the agent now concedes to Calciomercato.it: "I think it's possible he'll leave in January. When the market reopens, definitely proposals will arrive, as has happened in August.

"For now, however, I have no contact with English clubs, but I had some informal chat with Italian teams, but only to get information, there is nothing concrete."

What do you mean? He's playing for Shakhtar Donetsk. You can catch him in the CL next week probably. The kid is 22 this year and has 3 seasons in Europe under his belt. He'll probably go on to have a fine career.

Last I heard he was doing well at Donesk. One of those incredibly hyped in some quarters brazilians who some felt was overrated (a la Lucas Moura). Still incredibly young so has time to forge out a good career

He looked superb again last night when he came on, not just his beauty of a goal but his all-round play. Viasat in Sweden replayed the Dortmund game straight after United-Real, very good game.

Has he been injured.. I can't remember seeing him against Chelsea.

Between him and Essien I feel like we had a United player... both so close to joining at one point I saw it as foregone conclusion, although has he set the world alight? I haven't heard a lot, he seems to be overshadowed by the Brazillian at Shakthar..

He is a Brazilian at Shaktar.

The Brazilian at Shakhtar? Could you be more vague?
