It seems that Manchester United will soon become Van de Beek's new club. Sources around the midfielder also confirm this. The English top club already made inquiries with former player and Ajax director Edwin van der Sar and, unlike the Spanish superpowers, does not have to shift budgets. That also makes it more attractive for Ajax.
For example, Van de Beek normally finds his dream transfer in England, and not in Spain, where he was only a scribble away earlier this year. Real Madrid already had an agreement with Ajax and the midfielder himself on a deal of - reportedly - 50 million euros.
But then there was that damned virus that disrupted the salary system in Madrid, but also in Barcelona, where its name was internally seen as a potential reinforcement, and forced cutbacks. President Florentino Perez has already hinted that salary cuts on the one hand, and large purchases on the other, more or less force him to keep his hand on the purse.

Disappointing. We have enough workhorse players. We need some with high technical ability.
 
He's too good to be on the bench surely. Where does he fit in ?

What are you on about? He's a good mix of workhorse and technicality, much like Bruno. You'll even be more surprised when he dons the United Shirt.

I for one am glad he is moving to United. I thought he was nailed on for Real Madrid during the January window.
 
Nice! He’s going to surprise a lot of people if his performances in the CL were anything to go by. Just coming into his prime. Great work rate and supposedly a model pro. Fair price. Possible future captain material. We really are focusing on mental attributes more and it can only be a good thing to get another winner on the roster.

Whenever I've seen him he's been a bit meh.

Also, we don't know how he'd handle the increased pressure of being at United.

He has an eye for clever passes - unfortunately his teammates dont

He is extremely good with the ball at his feet - why he gets fouled so often.

He scores a lot of goals - considering he has to do everything on his own because his teammates suck

So I would take Grealish over v.d Beek if money wasn't an issue - but if the latter is £40 million and Grealish is £70-80 million - it's a no brainer
 
So if we sign him we will finally have a midfielder who likes to make regular runs in the box. That will take pressure off bruno and the forward line.

We can play him box to box along side pogba against high pressing inferior sides like s'ton. That will take pressure off pogba to move the ball from the deep to up in the field. We can rotate DVB with Matic against the superior teams when we want to defend the lead.

In some games we can bench Radhford and play 2 up front with DVB playing along side Bruno near final third and Pogba dictating from behind. Martial and Greenwood can play forward, and that would bring Greenwood closer to the center.

DVB unlocks many possible formations/strategies in different scenario. Looking forward this deal to get closed asap.
 
He could end up such a good signing. Imagine if Pogba now became a good player again and we signed Sancho or someone similar

Absolutely. Hope VDB does really well for us. I like how swiftly were getting this one done. We do need cover and options for the creative central roles. But we still desperately need someone who can make things tick in midfield and keep the ball under any circumstances.

Yup, correct.
 
The only problem is if this is our only signing. Not the most needed type of player to be honest. Although he can hopefully play in many different roles.
