Would be a welcome signing.

We have a lot of midfielders but some of them take a while to find their rhythm. Donny and De Jong looked superb for Ajax, I'm a little surprised with Koeman as well he's not going to Barca although I think he likes the PL and things at either club aren't great and maybe he doubts his prospects there too.
Koeman's supposedly trying to snatch Wijnaldum away from the dippers who might lose his place in Klopp's XI if they get Thiago

Some people shitting on this before it's even concrete  He's better than Lingard and Pereira.

Spurs out. The gist of it is that they cannot afford him unless they sell first.

Honestly speaking, most people who write off signings like VDB, they don’t watch much football outside the off Utd games. They simply play Fifa and only like players with special Ultimate team cards.

Ah fair enough. I doubt Donny is looking for a role like that though? Either way, I hope he proves me wrong. He's a nice kid with a level head.
Well Pogba was out for 3/4 of the season... could also be in for Matic behind Pogba and Bruno, though I don't really see him as that type.

Everyone and their dog will be reporting this over the next 24 hours until it goes completely dead and stories start emerging about how there’s a problem with the fee and ‘48 hours’ etc.

If he comes he’ll get loads of games. I’d definitely play him in a diamond in games such as Liverpool and City (Matic, Pogba, Donny, Bruno is a tasty diamond!), he can play alongside Pogba and Bruno against the “park the bus” teams and he can play instead of any midfielder that might be injured. I also think he could do a job on the right as he’s that dynamic in his play, although I wouldn’t wanna stick him there often. There’s also cup games so he’ll be as good as a regular for sure.
Next season we re gonna play twice a week for about 3 months. So we need a good squad

Signing both of them up would make us a better squad this season even if we don't get Sancho. We most likely wouldn't need to pay more than 65-70m combined for both too which would be crazy in this market for 2 well rated young players

Can't believe so many people can't grasp that signing a player in a position we have quality is a good thing. We need to be able replace quality with quality

With AWB as the only option down the flank? We'd come 7th or 8th mate.

Would obviously mean no Sancho and One of Greenwood or Rashford sitting out too.

Diamond is a non starter for us. Our fullbacks just aren't good enough.
Sancho is with BVD and AWB will keep improving his forward play. The Diamond shape would imply that baby Greenwood would be coming off the bench next season...we looked very comfortable in that diamond shape at Everton...the Diamond is the only solution to push Paul(8) and Bruno(10) forward..build around Paul and Bruno.

I'd be happy about bringing him in for the simple fact that we've yet to have a Dutch player with 'Van' in their surname not turn out be a solid player for us  *knocks on wood*

He'd also give Ole a needed injection of quality in his MF options on the bench
You forgot Van Velzen

Reguilon is available for 18m according to Marca who did mention we were interested. We could get those two and Badiashille for about 75m which we can cover with sales. Leaving our net spend whatever Sancho costs. It’d be a fantastic summer.

It's like they haven't been paying attention to the sides that win things annually

Bayern just won a treble largely due to their ridiculous squad depth even at positions where they were already well stocked in before the season

yup. Reguilon seems such a "logical" buy too, we should be all over this.

Sancho
VDB
Reguilon
Badiashile

Would be an incredible summer, which means it isn’t gonna happen!

Diamond would not suit our team at all. To play diamond you need full backs like Trent and Robertson.

The talk on Spurs sites is that Ajax are very interested in taking Sessegnon on loan so if we are in for Van de Beek then I'd imagine that would form part of any deal. I'd be very surprised though if we manage to get him.

Absolutely.

The fact we are signing VDB instead of Grealish actually gives me even more confidence that Sancho is going to be a done deal. We initially wanted Sancho and Grealish but as we’ve gone for the cheaper option in VDB, it’s most likely freeing up funds to pay a bigger initial payment for the Sancho deal.

I hope your fecking right

If the price is right then nice bit of cover to give us 6 good midfielders for 3 spots. Not the most natural signing that people have mentioned but perhaps the best qualities without blowing money that might mean sancho is off altogether

that said... is there anything at all reliable said yet? Or is it just some foreign rumour and then people jumping on it, happy to have a source to quote to get their clicks?

I’ll level with you, I couldn’t give a feck about this if it means no Sancho.

I know it’s added depth but he’s not a DM, if he’s cover for Bruno then Pogba is a better attacking midfielder anyway.

Will he even be better than the improved version of Fred? I hope so.

Can’t see Levy paying more than £5m for him with £25 a week wages.

It honestly would be a very strong window and would easily be feasible for a club of our stature after a few outgoings but I've learned to keep expectations low under our current management (non-coaching or academy wise)

He’ll be better than Fred for sure. But most definitely will be a bitter pill to swallow if it means no Sancho.

I personally believe we’ve gone for VDB to give us more funds for Sancho. Grealish fee would have ruled out Sancho for sure.

I agree 100%, that’s why we shouldn’t sign him.

Comfortably so. Zero doubt about that.
