His lack of playing time over the last 14 months or so is reason enough to sack Ole.

I'm guessing all the loud mouths in this thread who, with conviction, said that all Donny could ever do was play number 10, that he could only replace Fernandes on the pitch, that it was impossible for him to play deeper in midfield and all this nonsense will keep their mouths shut after he's clearly proved to be our best midfielder on the pitch in weeks and weeks within 45 minutes of football. Not only should he have had about 2/3 assists but it was evident that bringing on a midfielder that can actually play football helped the likes of Sancho as well who played vastly better when he came on

Made Ole and the rest of the critics look proper tits again today. Which happens every time he gets any significant time on the pitch.

Let’s hope he trains well this week otherwise it will just get brushed under the rug yet again.

With all due respect, all these guys need to feck off now

Excellent performance today. Needs to start the next game

Funnily enough both his goals for us came in games where we were 2-0 down and still eventually lost (Palace 3-1, Watford 4-1)

Hopefully he gets his chance under the new manager.

Ideal second half , played great, created a lot of attacks, and Ole will still get sacked.

So moving forward, he has definitely earned a run of games now, today was everything he wasn't doing last year, he was aggressive, brave in his passing choices and played with assertiveness and tenacity.

It worked well with him on the right of the 3, he and Sancho combined well together, that is something worth building on, Donny releasing the clever movement of Sancho with good passes rather than expecting Sancho to be a more individualistic player.

Best midfield perfromance this season for the first 25 min of the second half, then ran out of gas.

Still probably created more chances in those 25 min than McFredMatic combined all season.

You can clearly see there is a player there that can offer something if we'd just stop persisting with the same fecking players and formation every week. I gurantee Sancho can show more as well.

Brilliant performance from him. Ridiculous he hasn’t had more chances.

A lot smarter, more technical and better footballer than the likes of Scott and Fred.
Ole not playing him is criminal.

Best player for us out of a bad bunch. He will be back on the bench next week.

Seemed a bit like an actual midfielder. Had forgotten what one looked like.

Probably his best game for United. Showed more passion for the club and ability than the rest of the team today - incisive passes, great instinctive finish and took out 1 or 2 Watford players with crazy challenges that still look somewhat controlled  . That said, he hasn't played like this before for us and hopefully he can press on from this game. It shocked me seeing a United CM who could tackle, play out of the press and pass longer than 10 yards regularly.

Did all he could do.. attacked the box, scored, created few big chances, released runners into the flank, battled in the midfield....

on the otherhand, Mct didn't do jack shit!!

Solid performance, even without the goal. Looks very comfortable in a midfield 2, much more press resistent than any of our other midfielders, handled the physical battles well. He stuck one on Sarr to boot, the mad bastard.

Some great passes in behind too.

And that performance is coming off the bench cold...into a team he has no chemistry with cause he hasn’t had any playing time with any of them. He isn’t the second coming but I hope those in the fan base who said he hasn’t done anything to deserve his chance recognise now that at the very least, he should be given a run of games.

really really happy for him.

No surprises that he looked like a proper footballer that actually passes and moves, plays the ball forward quickly.

it’s absolutely ridiculous that it’s taken this long to give him any meaningful minutes.

If he goes before Ole it’ll be a tragedy.

Played some nice passes, took his goal well, also gave the ball away a hell of a lot, especially in dangerous positions.

Was fairly anonymous in the last ten minutes of the game, but then so was most of the team

He looks a natural midfielder. Excellent spatial awareness, him and Sancho look a proper duo on the right.
Very clever player. I bet he's the kind of player that managers like. Makes this whole situation with Ole even more bizarre. Almost like he's trying to prove a point.

He was our best player. It's also absolutely criminal the way he's been under utilised.

Kevin Doyle didn't hold back on Premier Sports before the game.

"They have players like Van de Beek, they've spent £30million on him and you think he is going to come into the team. He never gets more than a game or comes off the bench in the 90th minute. It's like they're really trying to take the piss out of him."

A goal, created 2/3 big chances, distributed the ball well (the vision is fantastic), tackled players (for a small player, he didn’t care. He just went for it) and most importantly, his passion. He was probably the player who cared the most and he showed it.

how can Ole keep going with McFred when he sees VDB play in training.

donny was a joy to watch in a rather appalling match against watford…

Very good performance from Donny. Was super impressed by his attitude in particular.

Not only was he very good on the ball and always open for a pass, he was also very aggressive in the tackle.

Could have easily gone through the motions after the way OGS has treated him but put in a really professional performance. Absolute insanity that McFred has been playing over him. A great player for a new manager coming in

He deserved all the criticism for being so timid not actually doing anything. The praise was over the top for even him passing it back and keeping it simple, this thread was a shambles at times but tonight he showed guts and willingness to play the ball forward with good passing as well and enough grit and toughness to deserve another start.

Let's hope for some Fred-Donny-?(Pogba) three men midfield at some point, not our 4-2-2-2 bullshite with Bruno up top. But this manager can't figure it out so let's go to sleep and wake up the next season with a rejuvenated team, hopefully with a classic CDM and a CB too.

But well played Donny, today's the first real showcase of his quality so the praise is well deserved..

He isnt a CM. He is a 10. Not convinced he is the answer long term. Still he is better than Fred or Mctominay.

I feel like after watching that match and still sticking to that opinion you have to be trolling.
