I agree, he did try, but aren't we debating the potential consequences of making such remarks?
Yes I saw the headline, but that's not really enough to decide one way or another without reading the article. Contrast that to Trump, who has spent years claiming that the other side is going go to try to steal the election, then that they were trying, and then finally that they stole it.
Go on, then, tell me the consequences of Biden's quite factual statement. I'll give you a hint, the answer is there are none.
On the other hand, we have seen the consequences of Trump's months long operation to convince people that the democrats, Dominion's algorithm and other actors actively rigged the election so Joe Biden would win.
Also the fact that he very much did try to steal it, in numerous ways ranging from spurious court challenges to almost instigating martial law according to Axios.
There's that too, yeah. It's a perverse state of being that 80% of Republicans think their party was the victim of a stolen election, when their party is the one which did their very best to stop people from voting.
And stop votes from being counted.
