I'm actually surprised election turnout is so low in general in the US. A few times it's been below 50%, and many times it's been below 60%. I'm used to 75-85% in Norway (more 80% than 85% lately, to be fair).

Not surprising. You have a multi-party system in Norway. The two party system in the US, especially when its two neo-liberal corporate parties, leaves a huge chunk of the population feeling disenfranchised and disconnected from election.

What's more surprising is how quickly the Democrats abandoned the only winning message they've had in the 21st century that drove the highest turnout since 1968 just to throw up entitled neo-liberal garbage like shillary

Bernie is running on a similar populist platform albeit completely different in his message. He's anarchic, he wants to fight the establishment, he wants America to stop wasting lives and money attacking the middle east and he's pro working class.

Regarding the bolded I think Trump has changed the goalposts while keeping his base distracted with the Twitter schtick. They probably think he's the most productive and straight talking president ever.

Since when did Republicans give a damn about little things like consistency or honesty?
 
Also what they’re accusing Biden of and suggesting they will impeach him for, Trump is guilty of a thousand times over during his current presidency. So it would be good to see them all on record confirming it as an impeachable act.

"Just because actions meet a standard of impeachment does not mean it is in the best interest of the country to remove a President from office. ...

If there is any silver lining of this radioactive fallout cloud, it is that at least some people finally opened their eyes and saw how corrupt this political establishment has gotten. Or has always been.

I had a dream a few nights ago that Trump actually won the Nobel Peace Prize.

More of a nightmare, really.
 
That is somewhat huge. It will sting Trump.
No matter what you think of him(I have a dim view of Romney), credit where it is due.
 
If a democratic senator defects and votes to acquit now, it will be extremely embarrassing.

Seriously bad optics for both the Dems and them.

If they vote to acquit for their own re-election hopes when it will do serious damage to Democrat hopes in November, they should be expelled from the party.
 
It doesn’t really matter, does it? Even if Romney and a few others turn on Trump, he still gets acquitted, gets to tweet “TOTAL EXONERATION, WITCH HUNT ENDED” and wins the election since plenty of Americans will think that it probably was a witch hunt then and the only truly inspiring candidate for the dems is a 78 year old guy who half the country thinks is a communist.

They claimed that it was a total partisan vote in the congress but if Romney votes otherwise, they can't claim that now.

There has to be a twist, it can't be this straight forward even for Trump and Moscow Mitch.
