Divock Origi and Lazar Markovic

What's happening with Origi?

I thought it was a done deal ages ago. Any updates?

Seems to have gone quiet since.

There were rumors about Dortmund interest, I think.

Would make sense for any young player to go to Dortmund considering the record Klopp has there. Rodgers is also excellent with youngsters but I think as of now Klopp will be more highly regarded by the players.

I always judge players based on exactly what EA Sports thinks of them ;)

Spurs team based on full potential:

Lloris: 86
Walker: 83
Vertonghen: 85
Rose: 79
Sandro; 84
Paulinho: 85
Eriksen: 88
Lamela: 86
Soldado: 84
Chadli: 82 :wenger:

See, we are pretty good after all.

Go home, Eriksen. You're drunk.

Ashley Young is 82 rated in FIFA 14 UT, by the way. Talk about undeserved.

Same Rating as Gerrard, Ronaldinho, Wishere & Kaka. One rating better than Lampard, Lamela, Martinez, Mkhitaryan, El Sha & Walcott. TWO ratings better than Giroud, Podolski, Aubameyang, Coutinho & Sturridge. THREE ratings Better than Benteke,

Off futhead.

Anyway this is quickly going to become a FIFA thread.

How many more strikers to Liverpool want? They could have done with out quite a few of the goals Suarez provided if they didn't have defensive diarrhoea all season. I don't get why they're signing or being linked with so many attacking players and so few defensive ones.

They are interested in Lovren aren't they?

I think they'll get a centre back and left back. Still a lot of time.

Origi has offers from Spurs and Dortmund too reportedly taking his time and tours deciding it seems.

We would have already signed Lovren and Moreno had we been able to agree a fee, plenty of time to either get them in or other targets.

Origi my understanding is he came over to talk to us and Tottenham, with Dortmund interested also.

Not sure whether Markovic will be used as a striker or a winger, if it's the latter we would have Sturridge/Lambert/Borini backed up by Coutinho/Sterling/Lallana/Markovic - I suppose any of these could play as a second striker unless the manager wants to bring another one in to add the 3 we have.
Jordan Ibe/Suso if not sent out on loan I suppose could also feature.

Pretty happy with that to be honest.

Sevilla want 18 million Pounds for Moreno. And Southampton want 25 million pounds for Lovren.

I am not sure Liverpool will pay that much for either. Can see Moreno happening (which would be a risky sort of signing based on last season), not sure about Lovren as Saints will play full hardball now and they will find replacing him the toughest possibly along with Schneiderlin.

Do you expect any other business except Origi, LB and CB ? Bony/Remy another striker surely ?

Aspas has gone on loan to Sevilla, it seems odd we couldn't reach an agreement therefore to sign Moreno. Maybe we are still in talks.
Enrique is fit again but I don't think he is good enough to be 1st choice.

Lovren I agree price is a bit steep, suppose can't blame them given the players they have already sold.

I do think one more attacking player of some sort is left to come in besides those three.

Can't believe the Suarez cash is nearly gone already haha, that said we got more for ronaldo and spent a 1/4 of it that summer and won the league, so if rodgers is worth his salt or even 1/2 the manager SAF was they will look better next season

You finished second didn't you?

If we managed to stay in the top 4 I'd consider that a good job by Rodgers, even if on paper it would be a step backwards.

You know the clubs finances then? Just about spent the summer budget, not including other sales & Suarez money.

I'm unhappy with the Markovic signing. Definitely worried that Rodgers will get the best out of his impressive raw talent. He's probably already a top 10 ball-carrier in Europe. The rest of his game is basically subpar right now, from what I've seen, but he's 20.

On the other hand, this is yet another reason for teams to defend deep against Liverpool. Not sure Sterling or Markovic have the variety or delivery to hurt teams consistently if they sit back.

Signing Bony makes more sense, since the pace of Sterling, Sturridge and Markovic can force teams not to risk a high line, and then Bony is the aerial threat they can use as a plan B. Same thing for Lambert.

Good points, you have seen a fair bit of him then?

Be interesting how we fits in with Sturridge/Lambert/Coutinho/Lallana and Sterling but on paper sounds exciting.

Didn't see much to Origi to suggest we should be worried they've signed him, don't know why everyone is going so mad for him.

Huge praise.

Nah, like 4 or 5 games only. Definitely no expert on him. Didn't mean to come off so confident on my view of him.

But when the games were a bit open he looked terrifying running with the ball. Picking it up deep and just eating up yards, though not actually ending the run with the right decision. It's like Robben at the World Cup. It doesn't take a scouting genius to notice a player with very good acceleration going on a few impressive runs in a game.

I don't have any idea if he'll flop or be great, but if he does flop, it won't be because he can't carry the ball and beat people when he gets a head of steam. So does Gervinho, though.

Huge praise.

I should clarify that I meant among Europeans. Lots of the great ones are South American (Neymar, Cuadrado, Sanchez, Suarez, Lucas Moura) but among Europeans, the top ones that come to mind are Robben, Cristiano, Bale, Jese, Shaqiri, Hazard, Ribery when healthy, Diego Costa in his own unique way, Draxler and Gotze, Iniesta and I'm sure I'm forgetting multiple players. From what I've seen Markovic isn't out of place in the lower half of this list.

The point still stands. If/when you do I don't think he'll amount to much.
We shall see. Either way signing him for less than 10 is good business because he's not yet matured and probably won't lose huge value if he doesn't pan out. On the other hand he could be another Thierry Henry.

Based on what? Ronaldo signed for United for £12m didn't he?

Cmon man, that was ten years ago. Not really agreeing with the point that TooBias made though (even though I love his username).

Aye I know I did kinda think that too, fair enough. I still don't quite understand the original point though....depends on many circumstances regarding the selling club.

Markovic had a sell clause of 25m Euros, that's why he was sold at that amount.

I've to say it's a bit low considering the clauses the portuguese clubs usually set but maybe it was the condition on which Markovic signed for Benfica.
