Dippers to top the league by New Year?

God I hate the Klopp love-in. It's pathetic.

It's shit like this from our own so-called supporters that has made my stance regarding our own 'plight' harden.

I've watched both Stoke and Newcastle tear apart (apparently) much better teams with much better manager's this weekend. It really could be worse.

The next three games: WBA, Watford and Leicester suddenly look daunting. Unless we play Can, Henderson, Sturridge and Coutinho from the start. Then those teams will be bricking it.

I wasn't a Benteke fan before we bought him and today showed why.

To be fair only Utd fans have said so on this forum. What does that say? ;)
While this site is full of football hipsters who love Klopp more than United, I've had every Liverpool fan I know telling me Liverpool were definitely going to win the title for the last few days. Tomorrow is going to be fun!

And also United took more shots than Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool and even Leicester, in fact United took more shots than any team but Southampton this weekend who played bottom of the table Villa.

Now the fans will criticise Louis van Gaal for the poor quality of those shots. Obviously the execution needs to improve evident by us only hitting the target once but the fact we got into shooting positions and went for it so many times is a good thing and an improvement, that should be cause for optimism not pessimism.

I didn't know that. If you read all the headlines in the press, you'd never realise that this has happened..
Nevertheless, we need to be clinical; and as long as the lads don't lose too much confidence it will come... has to..

looks like teams that sit back and 'absorb' have a better chance against Klopps's style.

Certainly have a better chance against clueless players like Firmino, Ibe and Benteke. Coutinho, Sturridge and Henderson will be a lot cuter.

Maybe those who said/wrote that Klopps achilles heel always were teams that sat back and played on the counter, and his strength teams that playd possession-based, were right. Go figure. There's also the fact that they scored on every shot against southampton( without Fonte who's been very important), beat City( without kompany they leak goals) and Chelsea. They were not convincing in ANY of the other games.

The grass isn't always greener...

It isn't, but it's silly to ignore liverpool based on this result or spurs for that matter, both may not have squads good enough to win the league, but those who do aren't running away with it either, look who's on top of the table now and who's close to relegation. Also liverpool pose a challenge to us for CL spots, top 4 is far from guaranteed this season, not just for us, but for arsenal and city as well. My initial thought when they signed klopp is that you can't polish a turd, but they're clearly improving and getting better under him, and this result won't change that.

It was definitely a problem for him at the end of his Dortmund tenure. It's clear from anyome who saw them play. Terrible defensively and a complete cluelessness on how to deal with a team that's sat back and nullifying them. Of course it also did work really well for a few seasons too which lead to titles, and he's not just sitting idle but rather trying to improve his system all the time I'm sure. But it will be a challenge for him. Especially after the first year or year and a half. Till then expect teams in the league to be caught off guard by their pressing. Eventually they'll get used to it and respond. That's for him to tackle.

agree they are better players. But managers will be studying Klopp's style if they already have not. Absorb but also press the midfield. The key is to deny the ball.

Klopp's done in this league then. Time for him to move on. :)

He could be one of these managers who were brilliant for a 7-8 years and then they hit a wall. Football is full of them. Who knows.

Klopp messed up a bit here.

Too many workers and not enough creativity. Firmino was the only one capable of it and he clearly showed he is not up to taking the lead in the team.

Yep basically. I think it was a case of last chance for Milner, Benteke and Firmino before they get pushed way down the pecking order by the likes of Hendo, Can, Studge, Coutinho, Lallana and even Origi.
