Don't think he's good enough to be starting games for us. Still young, but should be at a higher level by now.

Think his ability and mentality are better suited to being a squad utility player. Bring him in for specific games, he’ll be super motivated.
O’Shea kinda role.

I get being supportive of one of our own, the second foul is 100% a yellow. It is was completely unnecessary to go to ground there, after a bad touch. To do this when you are already on a yellow and given the referee’s being very free with the cards, it is bordering on insanity. I will given him the benefit as the occasional error is greatly outweighed by the players upside.

Amorim does need to give him a proper scolding on Tuesday.

Watched it again after my seething at the referee subsided and you’re right, it’s rash and dumb and I would also likely be asking for a yellow if it was against one of our players.

Good points. My frustration with the way games are officiated now is it’s automatically assumed it’s a card if a player slides in. Looking at the replay the Arsenal player jumps over him and I don’t even think contact is made or if it is it’s very minimal. No contact being made should factor into any decision.

If this was any other fanbase, we’d be putting most of the blame where it belongs, on the referee. We’re very harsh on our players.

Neither was a yellow card.

I swear this is one of the reasons our players are so completely and utterly brainless, every time they get a card it's the refs fault. Never do our players get held to account by the fans for their stupidity, it's always the referee's fault or the opposition players fault.

Bruno got 3 reds this season and somehow was blameless in all 3 of them.

No wonder they go out and do the same dumb shit over and over.

It's 2 textbook yellows. Dalot is just incredibly stupid.

Don't like him as a player, never have, never will.

Moments like today prove just why he needs to be sent packing. Absolutely brain dead.

How are people saying it wasn't a second yellow?!? It 100% was a yellow. He dived in and missed the ball.
Because the Arsenal player had to jump over him to avoid his stupid lunge they think it's not even a foul

Apparently the Arsenal player is meant to keep his leg planted on the ground so Dalot can snap him in half and only then is it a foul.

Mental to say those cards were not earned. He absolutely deserved both of them, how can anyone say otherwise?

I'd bei fuming If those cards were not given against us

Both were book able offenses. The referee could have been more forgiving on the second yellow, but it was a reasonable decision. Brainless by Dalot, but otherwise he was having a good game. Let us not judge him too harshly.

I mean at least he's never injured, so there's that

Has moments where he loses his composure or concentration or both.

Absolute braindead decision to go for that tackle. Would have single handedly lost us the game. He has so many brain farts, just stupid stupid stuff.

Really need to ship him out in the summer, while he holds some value.

He reminds me of when I was playing WoW pvp. I got into arena matches and then it's just random afterwards. Sometimes everything just clicked and I did incredible things, other times I went in not knowing what to do or how to react to things and I just died in 20 seconds.

He’s one that some Italian or German team will pay 35m for, he’s had enough decent performances to attract attention. We should definitely be looking to move him on, add a quality LWB (and RWB) backed up by academy players.

A defender that can't cross and still hasn't understood that tracking your opponent all the way down to the far post is actually what you are supposed to do as a defender. He is what now 25? But at least he is available all the time something that we have sadly put as a great attribute because his colleagues have a tendency not to be available ever. Hope this was what got him on the list as available next summer.

I really thought that Liverpool performance would be a positive turning point for him for the rest of the season, but nope... goes straight back to doing something so stupid.

And yes the ref was proper shite throughout the match, but when you're already on a yellow and the ref is itching to give you a card, do not lunge in like that, contact or no.. it was stupid from Dalot.

You make a silly challenge in the first half to get booked then go in for a challenge you know if you miss you're off. Silly, just shows the lack of match awareness and common sense.

RA will be pulling his hair out with some of our players that keep making silly mistakes in games. Whether it be red cards or giving away penalties.

Daft challenge to make on a yellow but every player will do that once in their career. It's the other little mistakes i wish he could stamp out.

I like Dalot though and he plays well in the wing back system.

In the first half yesterday the only goal kick that Bayindir didn't punt out for a throw in was a lovely ball to Dalot, who somehow managed to be offside as a Left back from a goal kick. It is completely braindead stuff from him constantly.

He does all the basics to an acceptable level so gets through games, but if we are being honest he wouldn't get in to any of City, Liverpool, Arsenal etc's starting line-ups

Moment of madness but some are going way overboard. Casemiro and Scholes made a career of getting stupid reds. Gerrard once got sent off against us within 10 seconds of coming on. Shit happens sometimes. He's still been one of the best players in our team over the past few years.

Probably about the only one who doesn’t come away with any credit yesterday. Hopefully he feels that and uses it to get back to his form from last season.

Does he?

I mean, obviously things are subjective but it is really interesting to see the different scales different fans seem to apply. I am not laying into the player because he played somewhat out of position and he doesn't get much rest but describing him as playing well is certainly not what I would describe him with. He is not total crap, mostly average, okay'ish. Thats my point. But on a scale where what he showed for Amorim has been "well" how would you describe it, had he made two own goals and individual mistakes leading to goals and penalties and us being a man down? Would that be "a little subpar" or "not as good as usual"?

He played really good last week against Liverpool. But thats about it for this season. Also him looking like an average PL player isn't something one should be criticized for. It is still an achievement. But depending on your ambitions you'd still have to ask for more. We are just witnessing where such type of following can lead to, looking at Shaw. We should do everything we can to avoid that again.

Oh no... this stuff is starting to spill over to more and more threads. Being one of the best of a bad bunch doesn't mean a lot. We don't gain points or results for playing against ourselves.

That is true. But then it's not really a surprise that we're going further and further down the table when the quality of our best players are at this level

He's been playing in this system for a little over a month and has adapted better than most, despite being asked to play on the wrong side much of the time. Mazraoui is settling in to the right wing back slot and Dalot should be his competition there once we have found a LWB.

Fair enough and each to their own. I think, he hasn't adapted well to his position at all. Playing on the left probably a factor but I wouldn't give extra points for being mostly average just because he didn't play in his favorite position. Also, he did play half a season for Milan as LB, didn't he? Also making un-smart decisions probably isn't something that depends big time on the side you are playing

I remember that and thought it was odd but I don't think there was a replay afterwards. However, having seen how Garnacho was 'offside' late in the game against Liverpool, I have my doubts if it was really correct.

People here are really crazy. Super critical of our players who made mistakes in game.
I don't see the second yellow as a mistake. It was a 50/50 ball he had every right to go for and the Arsenal player didn't get there before him. Absolutely miserable and cowardly refereeing decision.

Agree. That’s the common act we normally see from Liverpool, Newcastle, and many other teams. Dalot misjudged a little bit and his right feet is a little bit above the ground. It’s nothing malicious as well. Referee decided that way and was absolutely miserable.

It's a typical heavy touch and panic dive into a daft tackle combo. Definitely a mistake on his behalf, whether or not it should've been a second yellow can be argued about separately.

Ah.. come on, no victim complex. Both fouls were clumsy you see yellow for stuff like that more often than not. In both instances, I thought, thats going to be yellow right after it happened.

Agree with this.

He is getting some flak, but he had every right to go for a ball that was not controlled by anyone.

You can see that, near the c**t, he lowers his foot and moves it slightly right, to avoid contact.

Its all about the spanish way of playing 50/50 balls (yes, every single game), and an awful ref with a clear bias.

You could argue that he put himself in the position.

But refs are not there to take prizes or look for opportunities to shine. They are there to judge if rules are broken or not.

He has two red cards this season.

Always a foul nobody should argue that but it was never a yellow.

If we were playing 4 at the back I'd want him to stay, compete with Mazraoui. But with this system and our need for money, I could see him going this summer for a decent fee to some team who's got a hole at RB, and we use the money on a more natural wingback, as we need 2 of them.
