Thought he had a good game apart from his output. He really, really needs to work on his shooting and crossing, but running and moving, I think he did alright regarding them.

Delivery is atrocious. Decision making is suspect. He can beat a man though.

It’s weird as when he first joined his crossing was his best attribute. Since then he’s clearly had direct 1v1 training with Antonio Valencia.

Fair play to him though he dug in and kept going, looked knackered towards the end.

Let’s hope he can stay fit for a while!

Was willing him to do well but his crossing and passing in particular were pretty bad.

His crossing was never good. Couldn’t have asked for more space tonight and did nothing with it.

Solid, but needs to stop with the floaty crosses. Still, considering this is his first match back after his injury, he was decent enough.

Should try his hand as a right midfielder. His defending isn't good enough to make a living out of. Could see him doing well in that Simeone style set up where the midfield plays very compact and runs hard. Don't see any kind of real future for him as long as we have Wan-Bissaka.

Decent.. Just came back from injury, hopefully he improves.

I don’t rate him at all, flatters to deceive. Few nice feints here and there but lacks intelligence in his attacking play and is a very poor defender. I’d be amazed if he becomes an important player for us.

He was absolutely clueless on their crosses. Barely had to defend but yet you could still pick out several instances where his awareness and positioning are completely wrong. He needs a serious amount of game time and training becasuse his defending is beyond useless. Hopefully he can finally stay fit and get his games in the cups and finally take some strides to learning some basic defending.

He's good getting forward from fullback though. And while crosses weren't great, they're largely a waste of time in our side anyway.

If he keeps this up he'll be able to rival Nani in his ability to do really really good things and really really shit things within about ten seconds of each other

A few of his crosses were just off target, or over hit. Its a shame as I thought this was adjust through the game but it seemed to not happen.

This was his first game back from injury, so it was a good 90 minutes for him. Have to remember, hes only 20 and played that many games altogether

Saved us conceding a certain goal and should have scored. Decent in parts and poor in others all game really.

Thought he was a bit crap. There are constantly areas for him to move into but he shys away from it, and his end product is lacking. Some poor passing as well.

Some good moments, some shite crossing. It's weird because he looked like he had a right cross on him at first, but they just needed honing with a touch more accuracy. Looks like he's followed everyone else's lead at being totally shit at them now though.

Missing end product and poor on the pass; can't be too harsh given he's back from an injury and is likely behind on preparation.

Played better than I expected. Could maybe be a useful squad player this season.

It is just the classic caf. Play one good cross and you're the best crosser at the club. Play another game and make poor crosses and you are thrown into the heap with the rest and the latest new player hailed as the greatest crosser. You can find Ander, Blind, CBJ, Andreas, Lukaku, Mata and the list goes on and on being hailed as the greatest crossers ever on the back of one cross only to be called shit the very next match. The reality is, like most of the others he is just a decent crosser who makes some good ones and some poor ones. None of which is helped by the fact we are terrible at actually getting on the end of a cross.

Mixed bag, had one great moment and a couple of decent ones, but he was also sloppy and his crossing wasn't great, those aerial ones are pointless given our strikers.

Yeah, Chong was way too far forward for every cross in the first half.

I'm not saying he was great at crossing, but even the decent ones, as is the case with James, are wasted with our forwards. We should take a page from Barcelona and do the on the ground cut back type of cross a lot more.

His crosses isn't shit. It's difficult when you don't have a striker with that aerial prowess.

I swear if we have Haller/Mandzukic/Lewandowski in there, defenders will be in tears when Dalot in position.

Months off from playing and a few shit crosses on his first game back and he’s “shit at crossing”. He looked good at that generally last season.

I think he’ll be a useful squad player covering both full back and midfield positions.

People put way too much emphasis on crossing IMO.

We need the full-backs to make well timed runs to stretch the defence and create space. If they do a good job of getting in behind all they need to do is square the ball in the space between the last defender and the keeper, or pull it back to an attacker in space near the edge of the box, and it'll cause massive problems - you don't need to be particularly adept at crossing to do that. Evra was shit at crossing but he caused all sorts of problems for the opposition with his runs to the by-line.

How often do we score from a traditional whipped cross with everyone already populating the box? Virtually never as is evidenced by our corners.

Frustrated me last night as he was in constantly good positions, and yet could do absolutely nothing with the ball. It felt like every cross he made was poor after being in a very promising position. Could have been so much more and he needs to learn from that.

This boy is not a defender by any means. Hope the coaching staff does not try to teach him defending and helps build up his attacking attributes further, which can make him a useful back up in a position we are really lacking.

His crossing wasn't that bad. We don't have players who are going to get on the end of crosses in general though. If Lukaku was there Dalot's crossing would probably be seen to be very good.

The tactic of putting in cross after cross confuses me when we don't have a good header in the team.

Rusty but did show what a good footballer he is. I think he can be a very good option for us as a replacement for AWB.

Did what he normally does going forward. Did better than he normally does defensively. Is a good backup for AWB.

Final ball wasn't great but he gets himself into positions and stretchs teams. On another day he'd of scored as well.

People go on about how shit all of our player’s crossing is. Maybe it’s crap movement, or the fact that the opposition usually have 4x more defenders than we have attackers, therefore the cross has to be 100% accurate. If there were more players in the middle, it’d be easier to put one “in the mixer”.

Surely so many professional footballers can’t be THAT bad at crossing a ball?

Just a thought.
