That touch to take the ball down which he ended up sending over was amazing, better then amazing. I can't remember who passed to him but it was rising and traveling at speed, breathtaking skill.

I came a little when he took that down, it was incredible.

This is what someone of his ability should be able to do. You can drop deep and effect the game but he's in the box more and he's abit more selfish. He's always had the talent, but it's coming into place at the minute. If he can maintain this form now, that's a massive bonus for us. Todays goals were vital and it's looking good at the minute.

It reminded me of the Ronaldo touch which led to his goal after Tevez fired it in far too hard from about 10 yards away, only this was much, much, [Quote Holloway] much better.

It was a Scholes pass, intended for Nani iirc.

Truly fantastic bit of skill. Like, woah!

Also, does he know how to get tackled? I don't think they've taught him right yet.

Truly was a sight to behold.

This is something that has amazed me about him since first seeing him, he seems to be able to almost walk with the ball sometimes even when there's three guys trying to take the ball off him and he just keeps going.

Seems absolutely deadly with his shooting when he has the ball at his feet and he's able to run at players. Great second goal especially today, he doesnt score many with his left foot but that was outstanding.
What the feck, praise that isn't conditioned with bitter bile?!

Agreed, as per usual.

Berbatov comes across as a very classy, grounded fella off the pitch.

He doesn't make a fuss if he's on the bench or taken off. He plays for the team. He doesn't like being centre of attention, he just goes about his game. He doesn't dive (and no sorry, don't bring up the Liverpool game which was one incident). He's not sly or nasty. He clearly loves playing for this club.

What's not to like?

Hehe...just before the game me and a workmate with discussing Fantasy Football and the likes and who to pick as captains, I said "im gonna stick with Berbatov this week, reckon he is going to have a storming couple of games"

Great performances. He holds the ball up unbelievably well.

Majestic stuff from him tonight and indeed the last few weeks. It's a pleasure to watch this guy play football. Not a United player? My arse. Keep it up Berba!

Bloody awesome work from Berbatov yet again this season. Not always been his biggest fan because of the lack of goals but there has never been a doubt about his skill, touch and technique. Nice to see him doing well.

Just cue the one "without Berbtov....." comments all of a sudden from all rival fans like with Ronaldo and Rooney before, conveniently forgetting about "Berbabflop" ones. To be honest don't care what they say if it brings #19 and makes us true kings of England.

Top performance from him, great game.

I lost it a bit when he did that. Seeing as though the Arsenal match was on at the same time, we were streaming it at my mates whilst that game took centre stage. When Berbatov took that down, I grabbed the laptop during the replay and started pushing it in people's faces round the room shouting, "DID YOU SEE THAT!? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?! FOR feck'S SAKE!"

I think they all stopped listening when I then started going on about how it was a violation of the laws of physics.

There's been plenty of it this season if you looked for it. Its not like I ever had a problem with him, just the posters who would go completely over the top or bang on about him being brilliant when he dissappointed. Berbatov the person and footballer doesnt have any control over that

I'm not going to engage you further on that, but that is bullshit. Some go over the top in the positive way, but none can compare to muppety you. You hate him, and that's ridiculous. You're ridculous. Not a lot to do with that. Oh well, the rest of us move on.

Missed the first half but watched the second - the whole team came alive after the introduciton of Giggs and Hernandez with Giggs providing balance on the left and Hernandez making good runs which opened up space for Berba to exploit -which he did brilliantly - was it 2 chances and 2 goals?

Its not bullshit at all, you're just one of the people who dont understand that a United fan doesnt hate a United player. But he can hate how posters on a manchester united forum go giddy over simple things because said player does it and not bat an eyelid when another player does it.

I had plenty of doubts over what he was going to accomplish, some of which have been proven wrong and some proven right but thats not personal is it. There's only been one player I actually disliked in the past however many years and I got over that. It wasnt Berbatov

Highlight of the game

To be fair, you're a cock.

You know the "fecking hell" from that Father Ted sheep episode? Pretty much my exact reaction, with the delay and everything.

Anyone know how long it took Ronaldo to get to 19 in the league in his best season?

To be honest, and I say this from the heart. If you've ever used the term Berbaflop to describe a Man United player, you're not a proper fan. You don't deserve to see the team win it's 19th title, and you don't deserve nights like tonight.

When I've got some time I'm going to have a look through some of the Berbatov threads and laugh my ass off at some of the comments. It still baffles me that posters who are otherwise pretty knowledgeable could have doubted a player of Berbatov's quality.

Yes, acting like a cock.

Strange fascination you have.

Regardless this thread is about Berbatov and on a day when he played so well, its probably best to try and keep the subject about him. I know you struggle to talk about football and not cock, but perhaps you could stretch yourself to actually show some insight into football for once. How do you think he played?

Spoony... He really got you there.

You first...

Jesus Christ that was brilliant. I turned to my mate and pondered with him how that is possible in physics terms.

Maybe being tall and lanky helps with the first touch because him and Zlatan are in a class of their own.

In the first half? Does someone have a vid of it?

The guys got the tough of zidane on his day. He always had that quality and control. This is part of Sir Alex's Magic. The fact that we can have players underachieving but not panic and now we're in a situation where Berbatov is piecing it together but as life is, we seen Rooney struggling to get a goal.

It would be nice to reach a point where they're both firing on all cylinders. Thankfully there's still plenty of football left to play :)

SAF on Berba
And of Berbatov he added: "He's having a great season. He has great talent. The third goal, the composure, I was screaming for him to square it to Chicharito but, no, he has the confidence and ability to do what he did."

the day berba became a proper united player

He's been a proper United player for 2 1/2 years. He just hasn't been treated like one.

So happy for the Berb. Been defending him ever since he got here from all the often times ridiculous criticism he's received. An incredible player, and a humble, sympathetic and well spoken man. Well done Dimi.
