Give the man some love ffs! Too many hours with this thread strangely quiet. Don't tell me that Nasri wanting respect or the Special one being all smug are more worthy topics to discuss that our very own Languidness.

He is in the middle of mentally preparing for the big match vs. Spurs this weekend and demands some attention.

We're bored of discussing the slow one.

I am waiting for the Milan interest to firm. Then I will be back with a Viagra and my hand, ready for hours of posting.

How many times have we heard this only for reality to bite one again.

A grade you do have the most panglossian view of Berba. I wish I was as optimistic.

Always the optimist, mate. Never give up hope on anything especially not in something or someone that I truly believe in. A great payer, a true talent, just needs to convince the heathens:D

Ive been one of the most outspoken Huntelaar fans in recent times, but im not sure now would be the right time for us to get him. Last summer or the year before I was crying out for him, but with the signing of Owen - who is a very similar type of player - it doesnt really make sense to be getting him now, although I do think he could still do a job.

The other thing is that KJH is now 26 and in the peak of his career. I wanted him a couple of years ago because I was confident that with SAFs grooming, he could become a more complete player and would be fantastic for us. Now however, whilst he still has several years at the top of his game, I think its too late for him to be developing his game.

Even so, I think Huntelaar would do a good job at another team in the EPL. Someone around the spurs/everton/villa level, or maybe even Liverpool or Chelsea.
He could still fit into our team well - our wingers provide great service, and Huntelaar is both good in the air, and has great movement, positioning and finishing. He would get goals for us without a doubt - something that Berbatov doesnt seem to be doing.

Additionally, Huntelaar would do well in a 4-4-2 partnering Rooney. One they get to know each other, the movement of Huntelaar combined with the vision of Rooney could prove to be devastating. Definitely wouldve taken him 1-2 years ago, im not so sure now, but if we were somehow getting rid of both Berbatov and Owen, Huntelaar would be an excellent backup and partner for Rooney, whilst being a proven enough goalscorer that we could rely on him to hit the back of the net. With Rooney, Huntelaar and the youth prospects we have, we would have a good lineup.

Interesting opinion from an United great:

Hamburg Striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy Trying To Dissuade Dimitar Berbatov From Leaving Manchester United
The high-priced Bulgarian is having a rough season with United...

Hamburg striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has encouraged Dimitar Berbatov to remain with Manchester United despite going through a tough season with the three time defending Premier League champions.

The Bulgarian international came to Old Trafford in 2008 for almost £31million but has struggled to live up to the big price tag, scoring only 12 goals so far this season.

Van Nistelrooy, a former United star, believes that Berbatov should not leave the Red Devils after such a short time with the club.

"I can empathise with his situation. He cost £30million, there were big expectations and they haven't been met so far,” van Nistelrooy told The Mirror.

"He isn't playing regularly - he plays but not always - so, of course, that's a disappointment because expectations are sky high.

"But I think that, when he has the support of the manager and the lads, that he should just carry on and turn it around.

"I don't think he should leave yet. This is his second year so I think that he should give it another year at least - I wouldn't leave United that easily. I know what its like when you've left - when it's gone it doesn't come back anymore."

The former Dutch international was in a similar situation as Berbatov when he arrived at Old Trafford.

However, van Nistelrooy responded to being the highest paid player in the Premier League with 36 goals in his first season with United.

In five seasons with United van Nistelrooy, 33, scored 150 times in 219 games and has acknowledged how much he enjoyed his days at Old Trafford.

"I had a fantastic time at United. I will remember five unbelievable years, from (age) 25 to 30.

"But I was lucky. I was lucky to play with Madrid, which is probably (on a par) with United.

"Where can you go after United? Probably there's only Madrid. Any other thing isn't the same.

"And now I know what it is. On Tuesday I was watching the Champions League and today I'm preparing for a Europa League semi-final.

"That's it, it doesn't come back. I'm lucky to be in the Europa League and am obviously enjoying that moment, but playing for those kind of clubs is a one-off for a player.”

Where's all this Huntelaar stuff come from? I thought it was all going a bit Kezman for him?

From the rumours of Berbatov going to Milan and from that bunch of bs, it's extended into a swap for Huntelaar.

Did not see, you've posted this AGrade. 5 min ago I created a thread on this

I do have a feeling we are going to see a bit of a striker merry go round this summer. Macheda hasn't been playing much and might be getting anxious, Berba is Berba, and Owen can't stay fit. With this Mexican kid coming in, I would like to see if the Diouf signing was just a potential thing or if he can actually play a part next season.

Owen is a decent player but he has an injury track record which is second only to Saha's and Hargreaves'. We need to have a quality cover for Rooney which means someone who is not afraid to pass some time in the opponent's box and actually score. Huntelaar is not my first option but he does score goals.

Pushing Rooney to the side....

We have to ask is 12 goals enough for a second striker? Berbatov HAS ability and i'm really hoping today he shows his quality. I think he's improved (though he will does have the odd off day), it's just he misses too many and someone of his ability should be getting you 20+ goals a season.

So there's an opportunity there for someone who CAN score the goals and who that is, is anyones guess. Diouf is very raw, Hernandez is unknown, Kiko needs games, owen needs a run of games to perhaps get the goals he could get. It's on a knifes edge

Does that include goals he scored when he came on as a substitute in other games?
Most Probably. I only counted games which he started and was then taken off.

On another note. I failed to find a good source for his goals to minutes ratio.

But I found something interesting on something similar to goals to games. goals to minutes ratio. Comparing all the main strikers around in world football.

Summer Transfer Frenzy: Are Strikers Worth Their Weight in Goals?

As you will see in it. The hunter is in first place.

Man United have signed a new striker from Kabul United FC, on his first day at training Fergie picked up the ball and said "BALL" then pointed at the goal and said "GOAL" then demonstrated a kicking motion and said "KICK" understand? kick, ball, goal, GOALLLLLLLLLLLL!

The Afghan striker plucked up the courage to say "excuse me Mr Ferguson but I speak very good english" to which Fergie replied "sit down son, im taking to Berbatov"
