If only Mark Hughes had got in there and bought Berbatov first I think we would be in much better shape. Its time for Berbatov to be sold. He is a great player but not a United player. I think we would be better off cutting our loss's and spending whatever pennies we can get for him to try to get a player that doesnt slow down our play, and that offers a goal threat in big games unlike Berbs. Vucinic of Roma I think is a great bet. He also plays on the wing and is quite tall and offers an ariel threat to compliment our abundance of short strikers! Maybe Roma would do a swap deal!

Funny image to replace the idiom, regardless of who you supported.

But if his hypocrisy doesn't bother you then fine ;) He's obviously the voice of reason in this debate ;P

In what way has he been a hypocrite?

Rooney is the star of the team, the most important and that's why in my eyes it's a lot more understanding to see Wayne shouting at others for misplaced passes or wrong runs than Berbatov.Berbatov is not by close to be one of the important players in this teams and as if he is one.Just for that fecked up attitude I wouldn't mind seeing him gone

I couldn't agree with this more. As time goes by and more pressure is put on Berbatov and he continues to not produce, he whines and yells at his teammates more and more on the pitch. To me it seems obvious; he's trying to paint himself as the victim to the fans. Same as Tevez, just a different style.

Makes me want to climb into the television and punch him in the face. There's nothing I hate more than a player who isn't carrying his weight screaming at teammates.

I don't agree. Nobody has had quite such a disappointing season for us as Dimi.

Nani started off shite and got lambasted by the forum, especially me, but he's turned it around and now gets praised, by me too.

There are no double standards here, just a massively underperforming, disappointing striker.

NOBODY?!

Michael Carrick is a CLEAR candidate.

There's a thread about him too isn't there? Or did you miss that one?

Prompts my comment, then tells me to stop talking about this in a thread about Berba. Incidentally (though he claims he did it to humour me) he posted in the Carrick thread that at least he hadn't been as shite as Berbatov. Later on in the thread he keeps insisting that people need to stop bringing up other players.

Add to that the random nature with which he latched onto facts to build his flimsy case (Dans' case that is... the case against Berbatov is a strong one, I understand people saying he might not be for us. Again, that's not what I have a gripe with)

FAO those who say he was lazy and uninterested today: So after being benched for a half fit Rooney, then left on the bench whilst a plainly injured Rooney was left on the pitch for 40 odd minutes you expect him to be fired up and passionate for the cause, Im not making excuses, although I am a Berbafan I dont think this is the right club for him, but be reasonable, after such a public and deliberate snub, how would you react?

Dans is just ridiculous. As I said before the Berba thing is definitely up for debate but the way he goes about it is stupid - you can't just say that he's been our shittest player this season and then whenever someone else challenges this tell them that it's not the thread for that kind of thing.

Not sure that qualifies as being hypocritical tbh. I think a lot of the feeling against Berbatov is because he was bought to be a main striker, cost a packet, and really hasn't lived up to it.

Talk about Nani and Carrick also having a poor season isn't quite the same. It's not really denied, but the level of expectation isn't the same as it is with Berbatov.

Er. I'd probably try to prove myself? Unless I'm a loser of course, in which case I'd walk around disinterestedly and whinge at people

Correct.

recent mom performances should have been enough proof, maybe not to start the munich game, but not to be brought on when rooney was fecked and we were cruising? The management might as well have stapled a Free to a good home label to his head, that isnt going to get the best out of any player.

Err, yes, of course we should expect him to be fired up and passionate. He should want to prove his worth, not sulk.

Vicious circle though isn't it. Why was he benched?

That sounds suspiciously like the argument often given as to why Tevez sulked.

So, he's the "New Tevez?"

Not saying anything about Berba in there, mate. Just saying if I had been 'snubbed' as you say, and got a chance to prove myself again, I'd work my arse off to rectify the impression.

I take your point, but I actually feel sorry for the bloke, his big move just hasnt worked out, the only direction from here is down, has to be depressing really.

Anyone who thinks he wasn't passionate today must be blind.

It's slightly different. Tevez was benched because we signed Berbatov. Berbatov has been benched because he's not doing the job.

Other than that, it's the same logic.

Overrated waste of space with a horrible attitude. Was a mistake signing him. £31m? fecking hell.

Tevez was benched because he wasn't up to the job, in Sir Alex's eyes.

Berbatov was benched for the same reason.

Let's not try and twist things.

The thread is about Berbatov. He's been our most DISAPPOINTING player this season.

If you want to to discuss how that player is in fact in your opinion Michael Carrick, then feck off to that thread and talk about him being disappointing in the thread started for that purpose.

Is it so hard for the likes of you and Eriku to grasp that this thread is about Berbatov and I am posting in this thread because he is for my money our most disappointing player?

Give me strength.

Anyone who thinks he wasn't passionate today must be blind.

I think he was passionate. I wouldn't question his desire. I just question his ability to handle it. He's like a fecking baby out there. Step up, quit blaming everyone else and be a fecking man about it. He's got the talent but he's just fecked in the head.

Pretty sure that's textbook hypocrisy. He's allowed to bring up other players, we're not. He can slag Berba in support of another player in another thread, we can't defend Berba in his thread by saying he's been better than someone else... not even as a response to a claim he made about him in relation to the whole United side.

He also kept ignoring a lot of my comments that didn't suit him, and just kept talking as if he was making a good case and invalidating my points, which he clearly wasn't. When you have Fergie quotes saying his dropping deep is something he's been told to do, and yet people like Dans are pissed off with Berba for not playing higher, you have a clear case of someone being unfair towards the player. Nuff fecking said. That's at least partially on Fergie. But Dans really has no interest in responding to these points properly, or so it seems to me. [/hedge]

There's a reason for that, a one-legged Rooney is still twice the player Berba is.

Honestly it looked like he'd given up with 10 minutes to go. When he slipped on his arse and got stick from the Blackburn fans looked like he'd had enough at that point.

Can't really see why you should think it ok for one to do it and not the other, it's a team, we don't have special dispensation for bad behaviour if you're a "star" do we.

I didn't say it's "ok", you transformed my words.I said it was more understanding to see Rooney do that considering how he performs than Berbatov who has no right to have a go at the others

Andy Gray is doing a good job of highlighting his strolling/jogging attitude, it makes me sick just watching it. I feel sorry for the fans who paid to see that today. I really do.

And Andy Gray is one of his bigger fans.

Berbatov was benched for the same reason.

Let's not try and twist things.

I don't think Fergie thought Tevez wasn't up to it. I think Fergie wanted an impact player to come off the bench, in the same way he used Ole.

Tevez being a big girls blouse, didn't see it that way, so chucked his dummy out.

Both Fergie and Tevez needed their heads banging together maybe. Both were at fault imo, because this club would be better off with Tevez in it.

There, I've said it.

(Don't like the little twat now mind - but if he hadn't left, we wouldn't have been witness to his silly tantrum/outburst).
