I think of the chances he had against Chelsea, Bayern and today and I have to say Rooney would have done better with them. I think Berbatov has had enough chances to prove himself and he hasnt. Maybe Spurs would buy him back?

The best thing that Berba can do for United if we are able to sold him for half the prize that we got him... End of it

Doubt it. Crouch, Defeo, Keane and probably Gudjohnsen.

Know what you mean, don't like it when Rooney does that either.

Rooney is the star of the team, the most important and that's why in my eyes it's a lot more understanding to see Wayne shouting at others for misplaced passes or wrong runs than Berbatov.Berbatov is not by close to be one of the important players in this teams and as if he is one.Just for that fecked up attitude I wouldn't mind seeing him gone

I wonder if any of the strikers actually ENJOY playing with Berbatov?

I just don't think he is effective for us. Can't play upfront alone, doesn't seem to partner ANY of the other chaps too well. I suppose Rooney is the most successful when partnering Berbatov, simply through frequency and his brilliance, rather than the fact that Berbatov is effective.

I hate it when he plays, he slows everything down.

So Fergie "trusts" him. Trusts him to do what? Seriously?

Villa could do with someone like Berbatov, kind of club I can see him doing well at too.

Berbatov is brilliant, our manager is crap.

Thus says the idiot Chief.

Well that's sorted this topic out hasn't it?

Missing a few points there Rubber.

Imagine Berba was penalty kick taker this season. I am not sure, but I think Rooney has scored five penalties. If you took these away from Rooney and added them to Berba's tally:

Rooney: 26-5=21 goals scored in 2576 Premier League minutes = 122.66 minutes per goal.

Berbatov: 12+5=17 goals scored in 1818 Premier League minutes = 106.94 minutes per goal.

I dislike stats, but Berba really isn't as bad as some people are saying.

Do you think that perhaps his presence there was one of the reasons why we weren't struggling. Just a thought considering the amount of work he got through was the same as Giggs and Scholes.

Blackburn aren't up to much. We did not need Berbatov in midfield. We needed him up front. We got him in midfield, and really surprisingly, we didn't score.

Can anybody point me to the thread where it was claimed that we should have kept Tevez instead of keeping Berbatov and the Berbatards laughed it off?

Can't really see why you should think it ok for one to do it and not the other, it's a team, we don't have special dispensation for bad behaviour if you're a "star" do we.

As much as I like Berba,

I said after the Chelsea game that he wasn't giving our midfield alot of options with his runs, I think they would be the most frustrated with him on the harder games.

You should consider requesting a change to your username to Berba_Defence because you've come up with many differing and sometimes contradictory reasons (first our midfield was poor, then when someone points out our midfield controlled the match it was Berbatov who helped them) to defend Berbatov.

I can not believe there's still people trying to defend him. The best we can do is sell him in the summer.

On the first point, I'm not surprised anymore.

On the 2nd point. He's gone. Someone will bid £10m+ this summer and we'll take the cash thank you.

He's an interesting player. But the current situation is just ridiculous. We have a queue of talented young forwards who don't get to play. We've just bought another!

Exactly. I just don't get why we played so deep today. At one point we looked like we were so afraid of them we were trying to keep them at bay. Since the Munich game we've been playing strangely.

Best discuss that with Fergie then.

Do you think Ferguson told him to play in midfield after Macheda went off?

If it was Ferguson's idea to play a 4-6-0 formation when we needed a goal or our season was finished, then he should be sacked for that bit of stupidity alone. I'm guessing though that that is not what he wanted, and that it was meant to be a 4-3-3. I didn't understand a 4-6-0 formation, and I doubt you will find many who will.

And I highly doubt SAF would wish to discuss his tactics with the likes of me but if I get a chance, I'll bring it up.

I think it's more about his overall output and work rate. The amount if work Rooney does for the team is immense.

You did see his penalty against Everton in the Cup Semi-Final last season right?

Do you think Ferguson told him to play in midfield after Macheda went off?.....
The whole damn team was playing too deep. No wonder he ended up in midfield most of the time til we woke up very late on and started playing closer to their goal. By which time it was too late because he and the likes of Nani were frustrated and uncoordinated by then. No wonder by the end SAF looked utterly pissed off with the team.

Flawless - you'll be able to show me these differing reaons and contradictory facts won't you. Thanks.

(My username is Red Defence because I will defend any of our players if I feel that they are being unfairly criticised).

Not sure why you're laughing, Eriku.

My post was supporting Dans. :)

Funny image to replace the idiom, regardless of who you supported.

But if his hypocrisy doesn't bother you then fine ;) He's obviously the voice of reason in this debate ;P
