Dimitar Berbatov | 2009/10 Performances

Pass was a lot better than 1/5.

Performance not so much. Better than Rooney's, mind you. But when Roomey plays badly it's Berbatov's fault. That's the way we roll on here, right?

I take all the new dad stuff back, offloading Berbatov is the only solution to Rooneys form.

'Fraid that's a crock. If you don't like the lad, fair enough, but at least say that instead of trying to qualify a great moment of skill.

That's my problem. I do like him and I will be the first to admit my bad judgement if I'm proving wrong and Berbatov start's to produce.

It's the same when I see Zlatan playing for Sweden. Both of them can give me creep's.

When you think of it, Fergie's an awful twat for allowing our two main strikers to get their missus' duffed at the same time. Ever hear of the rhythm method, Alex?

Sack Fergie, Hire Supernanny.

He looked like he'd been out of the team for a while and some good ideas to play poeple through weren't read etc. He got in the box quite a lot, but the delivery from wide was pretty poor again tonight. Our best passages of play came from him though, and I feel he needs a run in the side with a regular partner and midfielders and we'll look a far more creative and cohesive side.

He was shit tonight. His bit of class for the 3rd was nowhere near enough to hide that.

His attitude was pathetic as well. I saw him bollock de laet, Valencia, Gibson and owen after he'd misplaced passes to them.

Owens movement off the ball wad enough to better berbatovs performance I'm afraid.

Yeah Berbatov does have a habit of blaming the nearest red shirt anytime he misplaces a pass.

He showed glimpses of what he can do but it was a very understrength XI of a side probably getting relegated and he was fairly anonymous, he should be able to force himself upon a game like that more, did he even have a single shot? When we have the ball he needs to be getting into space and screaming for the ball, hes just strolling about at the moment.

Rooney's the leading scorer in the Premiership for the calender year. Just one of the reasons he gets the benefit when he has a poorer patch. He's still at much of the heart of what we do even if he's having a poor game!

When Berbatov has a bad game... well it's just yet another bad game for him really aint it! Add it to the collection

Nice pass tonight though, and Scholes before that. Absolutely world class finish from Valencia though, what a strike

this pretty much. i love berb but had to laugh a bit at his quote. "best ahead of him"...i should hope so.

It does appear that what a few in the minority have been saying ever since we signed Berbatov has finally started to become more and more agreed upon, or admitted, and that is despite his talent, he is simply not playing well enough and hasn't ever done so consistently to our standard.
Again, a fancy flicked pass for the THIRD goal and his sublimely shite performance tonight is justified as has been the case throughout his United career thus far.
I'm very dissapointed, but it simply has to be said that we need a new high quality striker in the summer to partner Rooney who is still easily the best British player of the last fifteen years.

“He's a fecking great player. Yous are fecking idiots."

I'm still livid with last night because of berbatov.

If we was seen to be putting in 100% and not playing well I could live with that but to have to witness such a half arsed, self important load of bile from our £32M striker has knocked me a little sick.

Maybe i've been in denial about him, or just lost patience, as I've found myself heavily
defending him in the past.

There are half a dozen strikers in the prem who'd have salvaged a point for us on sat also if presented with that volley chance that he totally fecked up.

He had a really good patch for us from about December til February last season, but since then he's really looked like he's lacked confidence, aside from a few games early in the season.

He needs goals ASAP - one thing I do like this season is that he seems to be shooting more - he had a ratio of less than a shot per game last season from memory.

But what an opportunity to get a hat full and boost confidence. Wolves fielded there reserves ffs. He should have been chomping at the bit last night, desperate to impress and get goals - didn't see any of that.

I completely agree, he lacks the fire and desire. He is a luxury player, one that produce a magnificent bit of skill at any moment, one that when surrounded by 20 of the best players in the world he could only do, but unfourtentanly he doesnt do this often, and frankly doesnt do much most of the time. I think it would Ok if United still had Ronaldo to rely on and shoulder the load with Rooney, but they dont the load is completely on Rooney now with Owen taking Tevez's load, sure Valencia has helped and he has been a very good signing and shows signs of coming damn good, but 15 months, sadly, Berbatov does not.

Are you suggesting he's not fit or needs 5 games to get into it?

It doesn't seem to me that he's been rushed back, quite the opposite to be honest.

Don't be silly Pogue.

on the other hand Berbatov looked extremely frustrated yesterday. he was bollocking younger players constantly. What also struck me was his body language – he looked beaten.

Apart from he was guilty of usually things- slowing us down, holding the ball, sitting deep.

And tbh I’m getting bored with this guy.

But what's that got to do with anything? How he's played last year is worse then he's played previously. He's not talking about improving his all round game, he's talking about getting his from up to the level it was at for Spurs.

If he did that we'd be sorted, and there's very little reason why he shouldn't. He's got similar players surrounding him and he's got a fantastic manager.

Every player has their downside. Up until now no-one's found the perfect partner for him, and there's still questions about where his best position is from top level managers.

Rooney's been part of the reason why we haven't played 4-3-3 consistently IMO, and I've said that for a long while. He's not suited to play in any position in a 4-3-3, not yet at least(but Sir Alex's moulding of him is helping). Yet for probably every other player besides our front three, it's a great formation to play in. It suits our midfielders. Giggs and Valencia work well there, and it'd possibly benefit Nani to be closer to the goal and have that extra midfielder in the team to allow him to be more adventurous.
Spot on

Pogue wont be told about Berbatov mate, I was/am an admitted Tevez fanboy but despite telling anyone who would listen that Tevey was a better option for us than Berbatov, it seems people have finally begun to admit this as the truth.
As much as I have tried to like Berbatov, it simply cannot enter a third season with this nonchalance. He literally has until May, but I think we1ll see Owen play more soon.....

His pass was fecking top draw. No matter how shit he played overall.

As I mentione earlier, a pass to lay on the third goal in a pathetically cruisy three-nil win doesnt excuse a shit performance.
In fact, those in denial continually point to these little 'moments of magic1 as the justification of him in the team but they are few and far between mate and do not matter in the interim.
We need a striker whf can do it week in, week out or at least far more consistently than Berbatov...

He had a crap game yesterday but so did the whole team attacking wise. The service from the midfield was pathetic, given that we played against their reserves. It wasn't the case that he wasted good attacks created by his team-mates. Such attacks were quite rare and he created the best one.

Ah but you're missing the point. A crap team performance is the perfect excuse for the usual supects to lay into their usual targets and completely ignore even shoddier performances from players who they never criticise, no matter how badly they play.

Like I said, that's the way we roll on redcafe. It's illogical, irritating and fecks up the chance of any sensible debate but it's always gonna be that way. I'm done with this Berba-debate now. I still think/hope he's gonna have a good season and a shit performance (on a night when almost all his team-mates were below par) in his first start in ages won't change that opinion but I realise now there's absolutely no point even trying to point this sort of thing out.

Crack on with your campaign, lads. Fill your boots.

Yeah but Pogue, he will prob score a couple more and carry on playing gash but you will declare it a good season.
We're halfway through mate, for it to be a good season, he needs to start performing, NOW! A few good games or fancy passes to lay on gratuitous goals doesnt make it, you need to start understanding this Pogue...

:lol::lol:

I hope you live in Scandinavia, where you can take several months. Otherwise, you have a ruse awakening coming one day.

Aye, Scandinavia is the shit. I'm taking 14 weeks paternity leave from the beginning of February.

Get in.

I'll give you 6 weeks and you'll be fecking desperate to get back to work.

Two weeks isn't enough but there quickly comes a point where escaping the madness to a nice peaceful office is actually extremely tempting.

Nah, he'd be 10 months when my leave's starting, we'll be alright.

He's a happy chappy who seldom cries, which helps.

And two of them 14 weeks are spent in Gran Canaria with the mother, which also helps.

That Berbatov character... we actually paid £30.75m for him.

I can't get my head around the fact he was way more expensive than Fernando fecking Torres.
