But what's that got to do with anything? How he's played last year is worse then he's played previously. He's not talking about improving his all round game, he's talking about getting his from up to the level it was at for Spurs.
If he did that we'd be sorted, and there's very little reason why he shouldn't. He's got similar players surrounding him and he's got a fantastic manager.
Every player has their downside. Up until now no-one's found the perfect partner for him, and there's still questions about where his best position is from top level managers.
Rooney's been part of the reason why we haven't played 4-3-3 consistently IMO, and I've said that for a long while. He's not suited to play in any position in a 4-3-3, not yet at least(but Sir Alex's moulding of him is helping). Yet for probably every other player besides our front three, it's a great formation to play in. It suits our midfielders. Giggs and Valencia work well there, and it'd possibly benefit Nani to be closer to the goal and have that extra midfielder in the team to allow him to be more adventurous.
