I disagree.

He may be better at the head of a 451 than Berba.

Talk me through the process. Did you have that pic or its location stored on your computer, or did you search something along the lines of "man shagging car" in google?!?! :)

Hehe. It was posted in some thread in the general a while back, so I stuck 'man shagging exhaust' into google and lo and behold, there he was.

Lets hope Berba shows us his best tomorrow. We fecking need him to step up and prove himself.

Yeah along with everyone else ... though if Berba does do a one man show and win us the game, that will work too.

That he played well against United while at Spurs and troubled top center backs. But, might as well stay clueless.

Man did I think he was a good fit for our team when he was doing well for Spurs... *sigh*

Doing alright, but not as well as I'd hoped.

Aside of the debate whether he's good enough or not: Ferguson does not fancy him in big games and today, he preferred to let Rooney hobble around for another half an hour, to putting Berbatov on. He isn't getting the chance to shine unfortunately.

Ferguson preferred to use Nani as the only striker for half an hour ahead of Berbatov, says it all.

Hasnt given the manager much reason to trust him in big games unfortunately. Its a viscious circle. He's had chances before whether you like it or not, he just hasnt grabbed them. And today didnt really say one way or another whether he's good enough for us. But what it did do is clearly explain why we cant afford our record signing and one of our highest earners to be a bench player.

I thought this too, but didn't want to be the one to bump this thread :p

On Saturday Berbatov could really have done with the support that Rooney got from Nani and Gibson tonight. Even with Rooney hobbling around being pretty much a spectator at times, United were still creating chances because of the support he was getting. There wasn't a whole lot that Berbatov could do by the time he got on the pitch tonight, just did the best he could as a target man.

I'm not getting on his back tonight, I'm not getting on anyone's back. But that is absolute horse shite of the biggest, smelliest kind

We clearly need another top class striker in the summer. It will cost money, and we have to lump it. Don't think Berbatov need go anywhere though. He's done enough this season to show he's a good United player, he's just not the man that's going to make the difference at the top level in the important moments

Agreed. I still rate/like Berbatov. But if it's reached a point where SAF would rather start a half-fit Rooney, and then play a winger up front instead of him - well it's clear Berbatov is never going to become a regular starter for us, at least not in big matches.

I don't want him sold mind, for a start we wouldn't get back much of the £30m, and secondly I still rate him highly. But it's either time to bring one of the youngsters through or sign another striker.

i want him out of united because he's picking up a fat wedge that could be used for someone more deserving. 90k/week for a such a tactically limiting player.....fecking makes me blood boil.

Berbatov didn't come on sooner simply because it was 10 men and a lot of running and closing down was required from whoever was up front. It needed a Tevez, its the last sort of game you want Berbatov for, he just isn't suited for that sort of role.

He won't be going anywhere in the summer, but I'm struggling to think how we can get the best out of him at this point, hes clearly capable of so much more than we've seen from him in a United shirt. Turning up every few weeks against a Bolton or Wolves isn't going to cut it, he needs to produce week-in-week-out and against the biggest sides.

It says that Berbatov clearly can't play as a lone striker in the system United currently play, there aren't many strikers in the world who could.

Berbatov is a fantastically gifted footballer with a lot of strengths but leading the line in a side which doesn't have the quality attacking midfielder needed to support and get the best out of him clearly isn't one of them. Given that this is a system which Ferguson employs in virtually every big game then his impact is obviously going to be lessened. His 12 goals and 5 assists in the league prove that he isn't useless and he has been an asset in many games this season but there are certain thing he can't do. I'm not making excuses for him or suggesting that you think he's shit and should be sold, it just seems that when people talk about players on here they're either world class or not fit to wear the United shirt when the reality is somewhere in between- Berbatov cannot be played as a lone striker and it's painfully obvious he isn't an impact substitute. Whether he should be replaced is another issue entirely considering the finances and the connundrum of whether a better option even exists and is available.

Well you might say that, but I saw a very committed and hard running Berbatov play against Aston Villa in the cup final a few weeks ago. Had he have come on and played with the same spirit, we might have done a bit better while he was on the pitch. However, it was very little time to expect him to do a lot. I think the main Berbatov story was told tonight in his absence from the pitch. Not needed or trusted in big matches, our record signing the squad player.

I'm not so sure, mate.

Owen's on a pay by play deal, which he's happy with. Another will definitely be brought in, and our financial situation is dire, Berba will I think most likely be off.
I just don't know if it would be worth it, I think we'd only get about 10-12 million for him which is a huge loss. He seems content with his current role and might as well just keep him around, he might come good at some point.

the thing is, i don't think berba is all that arsed that he's thought of so lowly. while tevez is a cnut, i do like that he had that fire that he wanted to play more and always be involved.

berba doesn't give a shit. as long as he can waltz around looking good vs. west ham, pick up 90k/week, free ride his way to a few medals, he wont kick up a fuss. he'll be happy sitting on the bench and feeding his pet squirrels.

I really wish we had him to bring on today, would have suited him down to the ground.
