Dimitar Berbatov | 2009/10 Performances

I dont want to see Park in the hole thats for sure. I think he is useless in there. Park is good when he has a task to do - like marking Pirlo against Milan or stoping Philip Lamb getting at us. I think his performance against Liverpool was vastly over hyped.

I didnt think we were over run against Bayern. We just sat far too deep at let Bayern come right at us. When we had the ball, we were so deep and compact that we didnt gave ourselves any space to work in. Our midfield 3 were playing ontop of each other. We kept giving away the ball in our own half.

Its a tough call - personally i would rather see us play a 442 with Kiko but Fergie will go for a 433.

Park has scored goals when he's played in the hole. He may not be perfect for the position but if he gets on the scoresheet that helps Berbatov and ourselves out a lot.

If we're going to get overrun by Bayern's midfield 2 at home, then I guess we should phone Spurs and see if they want some of our midfielders. Because they clearly arent good enough for us.

If we were talking a combination of Essien and Xavi then fair enough, we cant have our duo best a special partnership everytime. But our midfielders need to be at a level where we can depend on them putting in a good shift against an opponent's 2 in the middle.

Bayern's midfield isnt that good. Hopefully the only reason it looked good against us away from home was because we played a 3, and we looked confused with how it was set up. If we went back to the bread and butter 2 in the middle and were overrun by a fairly ordinary central midfield, that tells us that our options are nowhere near good enough.

Carrick and Fletcher should be enough... but its the problem of having to face Robben and Ribery, Fergie may be fearful of going 4-4-2.

I too think Park is average in that role on his displays thus far.. the fact he's been our trequartista is saying quite abit about our current resources.

However Park and Fletch's presence in conjunction to Carrick sitting, could allow us to press them high up the pitch as well as giving the team some defensive solidity.

He has to show some muscle on the ball if he does start on Wednesday... his touch has to be good and he has to make the ball stick, I'm not worried about his runs off the ball or even his finishing, but he has to be good in general play if we are to build a consistent platform for mounting attacks.

A little less of your histrionics please.

Berbatov is not being made the scapegoat for one loss. He was shite in this game and highlighted the flaws he has shown us all year - his laziness - yet again. The rest of the team was also shite though - no arguments there. But as Berbatov continues week after week not to show the balls, the desire or hunger to actually work his bollox off for United then threads like this will remain at the top of this forum.

My prediction is that this thread will stay in the top 2 or 3 pages until he's gone.

Quite obviously you haven't been watching him over the last couple of months. He's moved up a gear, maybe not Rooney-gear, but he's getting better.

He will definitely be here next season and will be a bigger factor than he has this season. Thing is, I expect if he does well, it will simply annoy his detractors more.

I'd rather see Berbs playing there(in the hole) as he seems to be in that position whether he's meant to be there or not and has a lot more vision passing wise than Park does. He can also tackle a bit which tends to go unnoticed on the caf. Much better than playing Berbs up front as he takes twice as long as everyone else to get there. Also Kiko is a bit of an unknown quantity which could really surprise the Germans. Doubt it'll happen tho.

Agreed, would love to see kiko playing upfront , and berbs in the hole,

I'm fairly sure Dans has some kind of visual impairment where he sees everything Berba does in super slow motion.

He's not lazy and I was so sure that the muppets on here got over that myth at about the time that he started visibly creating attacking moves by winning the ball back off the opposition (like against Wigan, or in the Carling Cup Final). He won the ball 4 times in the attacking half against Chelsea - more than any of our other players. Only Gary Neville and Nemanja Vidic won more tackles during the game, so get to feck with this lazy business. He is visibly, and statistically no where near as lazy as some people (mainly Dans) are making out in this thread.

Rooney didn't get torn into this way after equally ineffectual games against Everton, Aston Villa, Fulham and Liverpool, and frankly I find it ridiculous that after quite visibly pulling his socks up this season (he's already beaten his league goals tally from last season) the senseless Berbabashing continues.

I think he has 12 goals and 6 assists in 25 starts in all competitions. That's obviously piss-poor by Dans's standards.

He's not scored in any of the other competitions, and depending on what sources you read its either 6 or 8 assists (some sources count whoever is fouled to earn a freekick that is scored directly from as an assister so Nani v Wigan and one other - I think Giggs v Spurs)

Wow, I never knew that, what if someone wins a Pen and somebody else takes it?

I think most people want the 20+ goals he got at spurs which seems fair enough. Was he two years at spurs? He always started slow but got goals. Hes had a good run of late but he's still only scored 12/13....which ain't good

Carrick, Scholes(this decent season aside his best for awhile), fletcher, Park, Nani, Anderson , Gibson (though he has shown potential), giggs ...none will get you double figures. That's a problem.

He's improved dramatically and to be fair I've never been his biggest fan. If Fergie persists on leaving him on his own up front he'll get bashed almost every time cos it just doesn't suit his style. Hopefully Fergie will sort this sooner rather than later and risk Kiko (as inexperienced as he is, we don't have anyone else till Rooney gets back) up front. Could well be the making of the lad.

That should be an absolute fashion disaster. And yet it isn't, he pulls it off

I think if he single handidly brought back 70's shorts we'd be a hell of a lot more forgiving of his poorer performances. Losing I can't handle... losing in style I can. And nothing says stylish like a pair of shorts that perfectly displays your package in all its glory

It upsets me to think I will never look that sexy when pumping fuel into my car

If he performed as well on the pitch for United as he does in some of these pictures he'd be a fecking superstar!

Dimi approves of this

I think all we have to do is to look at the goals Tevez has scored in the league this season. Compared to Berbatov, Tevez is inferior in almost every department of the game. However, when a striker keep making runs, closing down defenders and put in a high workrate, it is going to make things very difficult for opposition defence, and the goals will come. Berbatov is all fancy and no substance. He drops deep, doesn't make runs, and beats the first defender and rarely the 2nd. Its very easy to mark him out of the game, when he is always rooted outside the box, instead of trying to find space to put the finishing touch to moves.

Get over yourself.
You first. After all you're the one in here imagining Berba would ever give a shit about what you think.

NOBODY IS BLAMING HIM FOR THE LOSS, MERELY CRITICIZING HIS CONTRIBUTION.
Writing in caps lock won't make it appear any less stupid for claiming Berbatov was the cause of our attack looking so toothless vs Chelsea.

fecks sake. Read the fecking posts for a change instead launching into your usual shite.
You first.

It's not my fault you can't read properly. I don't have the time to bandy words with you convincing you of the bullshit folks have been saying in here. You included:

Below is just a snippet of the bullshit:

.......when our midfield had the ball he should have been dragging Chelseas center backs all over the place by making runs .... like Rooney would do...
Sure. The same Rooney who was left just as isolated and under serviced on Wednesday as Berba was on Saturday. How absolving of Berbatov this comment is.....

Boss said:
....He didn't give the midfield a real option at times....
Sure. It was because of him they couldn't create any clear cut openings. Just like was the case on Wednesday with Rooney playing. Surely this is proof Berba is blameless in their eyes when it comes to why we got beat on Saturday.

Dans said:
..... Now watch the game again and count the number of times that he makes no effort at all to get into the box, the front fecking line even, and lead the line offering our midfield a target.
Right. So if he had 'made an effort" everything would have been fine eh? Just like it was with Rooney in the side on Wednesday:lol:

You actually comparing the match in Bayern where we couldn't even make three passes to the second half of the game against Chelsea where he constanty had them on the backfoot. The midfield performances can't even be compared.

It just baffles me. I've kept pretty quiet about Berba since his arrival and have always remained hopeful. I just don't know anymore. How can you not be motivated for a title winning game against the renties ? Someone made the good point above about Fletcher chasing down Czech, and yes I do feel this was purely out of frustration in seeing that Berba wasn't bothered. You can go on all you want about not getting the support from the midfield, but there are also attacking chores that attacking players must do. You can't pick and chose at this level. You do what you are paid a collosal amount of money per week to do. It's very frustrating to say the least.

I think Match Of The Day highlighted the differences between the space which Rooney runs in to and the lack of movement from Berbatov perfectly on sat nights show.

Berba may do as much running as the rest when it comes to yards covered (debatable as it is), however if this is ineffective running like it appears to be, then it doesn't mean shit.

The guy did nothing on Sat that helps his cause, he was just stood up front and was very ineffective.

I think the guy is a 30m mistake. Why Tevez left is a mystery to me, greed, not starting enough games, not being wanted etc, etc, im sure we all have an option on the Argie tw@t. However one thing that cannot be disputed, is that 99.9% of us would rather have Tevez in the team over Berbatov every time.

 Berbatov is a posing cnut! and I thought Ronaldo and Beckham were bad. ********* is on another level.

Looks like some Italian Mafia or something.

Or a villain in some the action movies.
