Yup, I missed the first 20 odd of the second half. If he was utterly stunning during that period and we were irresistible in front of goal I apologise, I'm going off what I watched

Villa home was back in December, a rare poorer Rooney game this season, and Berbatov came on and did feck all to change the game. What an odd game to cite!

We weren"t irresistible but we weren"t impotent either.

Well I never said we were impotent so I don't know what your grand point is?

I said we lack potency. We're creating far fewer chances with Berbatov up front alone than if Rooney is up front alone, or there's two up front. Despite dominating possession as we do in all three situations usually. Berbatov isn't dire by any stretch, but you really have to have boggle eyes at the moment to think we couldn't be doing so much better in the forwards department

But that's for next season. Him and Macheda are all we've got this season, but with the games we've got left and the games Chelsea have, that might just be enough

he gets a 6.5/10 for me.

His biggest problem is his finishing is dire. His record this season is good but one only game in two years he's scored more then one goal in a game....He's lacking the composure in front of goal that used to be his trademark at spurs.

I thought he did well today. He could have been a bit more of an attacking threat, but but for a great block he would have had a tap in. He worked hard, he kept the two centre-halves honest by challenging them all game, and chasing them down. He looks well short on confidence though.

Also, some of you lot that were delighted to see Nani giving him a bollocking might do well to remember the fact that him giving out to Nani a few weeks ago was one of the sticks used to beat him with. In fact, people seemed to suggest that giving the younger lads a bollocking was beyond the pale. Our keeper didn't exactly heed that after their goal, did he? Then again, he's not Berbatov.

For what it's worth, I think tearing strips off your team mates has to be done sometimes. I doubt Berba will shed any tears about it.

6 in my books, still that's one of the lowest ratings (if not the lowest) in whole team

"Berbatov did well to escape the attentions of Benoit Assou-Ekotto. He brilliantly backheeled the ball to Evra but the Spurs defender fouled the Frenchman and a penalty was correctly awarded. Without Rooney, Giggs took spot-kick duties and coolly slotted the ball past Gomes. It wasn’t without cost – Berbatov injured his groin in the build-up, Evra had already been sick on the pitch, and Valencia was forced off - replaced by Michael Carrick – after clashing with King."

oh my.

credit to him, he kept on plugging away... I didn't notice that he was hampered in the groin area?

you can tell he's desperate to prove himself...

Much better from him today. Credit to him if he played injured but he shouldn't be foolish. 2 hugely important games coming up.

For feck's sake.

He seemed to be moving ok afterwards.

Surely we're not gonna finish the season with Macheda as the only fit striker at the club?

fecks sake, better not be injured. Credit where its due, thought berbs played well today, and his work rate was decent too. Just still never expect him to score in any given situation tho....

Yeh I think he did ok in that regard

I don't think any injury hampered him though. Clearly can't have been that bad if he had anything at all. I saw nothing different to times when he's not injured

I fecking hope not. If he's done his groin we're in trouble.

Mixed bag from him today, I thought. Couldn't shoot for shit but worked really hard and won a lot of headers, which is an achievement against beasts in the air like King and Dawson.

We started the season with 5 strikers and now it seems that only macheda is left - assuming that Berbatov is injured too...

I wouldn't be to concerned if Berbatov was injured, even if we're without Rooney. Macheda did ok when he came on.

Well SAF has kind of said Rooney's season for us might be over with his injury, so if Berbatov is also missing for next week, we are in some serious trouble but, I believe someone else will step up.

I thought Berbatov did very well, he worked his socks off and took up good positions. Him and Nani though seriously have to work better together. There was a time Nani had serious go at him cause Berbatov tried one thing and Nani was like WTF - wasn't even close. But, Nani has tried things and haven't worked out w/ Berbatov as well.

As far as I remember Macheda's often looked a little lost at sea when he's been started in first team games, but he's playing a very good role as an impact sub right now. As good as that is, it doesn't necessarily translate to him doing well starting as a lone striker for us. It could happen to just work out well, but I would say the shorter odds are on him being kept pretty quiet in that role.

Some people have mentioned the Nani/Berbatov incidents, it seemed to me like there was really something up there. Either they're just not at all on the same wavelength, or they just don't like each other enough to try and work together! I thought Nani especially seemed a bit apathetic to chase balls from Berbatov at times, and didn't once look for him in the box, although I thought today Berbatov actually made a good effort to make himself available inside when we attacked down the wings! We're going to need both players to work together to help us through the last two games, assuming both will be fit, we have enough problems in attack already!

In a way I think that fired up Nani though because up till that point Nani had been a little selfish and wasn't really putting in the right type of delivery. We were also under pressure from Spuds in the first 20 mins of the 2nd half.

After Nani told Berba to feck off and Kiko came on, Nani just transformed into a much better player.
Nah. Nani became really excellent the moment he was switched to the right, when we lost Valencia.

He had a couple of clear cut chances which Rooney or Owen would have stuck away to make us more comfortable

Not really. He had the one from 8 yards that was expertly blocked by King (who was superb all day), and the volley which wasn't exactly a sitter and I'm not sure if Rooney or Owen could have set themselves as well for it as Berba did.

Keeper would have saved that shot blocked by King, was going right at him.

Something was wrong with his studs I thought as he was slipper all over the pitch. There was a time when he took on Palacios and opened up some space only for him to slip

We had a few players with the wrong studs. Wet grass on rock-hard turf. For a players who have great balance Berbatov and Nani spent a lot of time on their arses.

They were all slipping a lot more than usual and I wonder if perhaps United over-watered (or under-watered it i.e. left it too late) the pitch somewhat because of the dry spell we've had lately.

Might sound silly but we don't get dry spells very often so it's quite possible they misjudged it. (I had to water my plants today and it's only the 3rd time I've had to do that in the last 12 months. Our rain usually does the job more than adequately).
