:lol:Nani gave him a royal fecking off after that languid backheel, they don't seem to like each other on the pitch, it's so blatant it's unreal, Nani doesn't 'get' Berbatov.

In a way I think that fired up Nani though because up till that point Nani had been a little selfish and wasn't really putting in the right type of delivery. We were also under pressure from Spuds in the first 20 mins of the 2nd half.

After Nani told Berba to feck off and Kiko came on, Nani just transformed into a much better player.

I missed a good portion of the game unfortunately. He seemed to do ok. There's no getting away from the fact that with him up front alone, we lack potency. Even first half we had possession dominated but didn't provide that much of a goal threat. There's quite blatantly an issue that needs to be addressed there next season, whether Berbatov stays or someone else comes in to provide genuine first team competition

I think its a shame for Berbatov that his goals have dried up at the most crucial point of the season. That's five without which equals his worst patch of goal scoring. Strikers will always be judged on their goals, especially when they're played up front on their own

thank god Berba was in the pitch then. Nani would have scored without him. What a player.

Although Berba had a good game in my estimatation, he never looked like scoring. He slipped at crucial moments (probably the pitch), his touch was heavy when you expected better and the shots he did take (which he would have hit the target with when he played with spuds) went wide.

His confidence as a striker looks shot, but at least he compensated with his commitment today. He really put himself about and that was nice to see. There's wasn't much laziness from him today and that was refreshing.

Actually, I think it was Kiko's arrival that really acted as a Catalyst. Kiko himself didn't have that many touches but his presence was like Tevez last year. He was full of running and really put spuds on the back foot in the last 20 minutes.

Thought he did well today but unfortunately for him it is goals that he will be judged on

Sadly that is the case, no matter how good he is outside the box its the goals that people look to and the huge price tag doesnt help, its like when hes about to shoot that £30m price tag is waved in his face and he panics

Nothing wrong in judging a striker's ability of scoring goals which was necessarily why he was bought in the first place. But the ability to judge loses its meaning when lack of goals is used to dish out opinion on other factors of his game.

hm i don't think he had a single shot on target. speaking of double standards...

Had more shots than anyone else on the pitch though, I think.

Plenty of threat just lacking that little something at the end of the game. He would've put away one of those volleys when confident no doubt.

He did well but he could've did excellently if he had that extra bit of spark back in his game.

The problem is that you could apply that to his last two years at the club.

2 camps....people who critisise him for every little thing and those which are just as stupid overemphasising every little good thing he does and passing it off as sheer brilliance.

He played alright. Not great, not bad.

sums it up nicely

He's clearly not confident. But he is fecking trying and that's enough to earn him my support. He showed moments even in today's game that show that he is capable of so much more. He just needs a big turning point. With Rooney out injured...

Nope. In the previous season, he wouldn't have as many shots, nor would he have led the line well. You could see both in his game today. I think he is improving. He just needs the confidence to start scoring again.

Good game today.

If you are basing it on today's match, who praised so highly of him.

Most were contented with him if not disappointed.

Had a big involvement in the first goal and his second half was much better (won a decent amount of the ball in the air) Ultimately he did enough for a one off match but didnt prove anything.

Lead our line well today and put in a very good shift.

When he was playing well early but not scoring he was under criticism on here for not scoring, when he started scoring post Christmas he was under criticism for not playing well so people will never be satisfied.

He played well today. Not great but more than good enough IMO.

He was good, unfortunate at times, but he was comitted to make us forget Rooney was not there, whether he was 100& successful or not is a different thing, don't tell me that backheel pass to Evra was not good. Keep it up Berba, and you'll find the net soon.

Sir Alex said he played well, said with his price there's alays critique if he's not scoring hatricks but he's a great player.

It's unfortunate that we didn't buy him when he was going for £10m, in the summer of 2006.

We were heavily linked, and Berbatov said we made a bid, but Van Nistelrooy's future hadn't been sorted out yet, so he was worried he'd never get a game (we had Van Nistelrooy, Rooney, Saha, and Solskjaer at the time), and decided to sign for Spurs.

For £10m, the fans would be alot more forgiving. His price-tag is the millstone that hangs round his neck, and it's something that's not his fault.

more shots over tha bar that's for sure. persnally i don't think he was that bad in the first half, faded away in the second. he looked ok, but he wasn't a threat

He had a good game today nothing great but over all really good. The pitch was a suspect today so I'd pass on him slipping over.
That run for the pen and the flick was

More of the same please Berbs

Berbatov had 6 shots, 1 on target.

Nani managed 2 on target with 6 in all, Giggs 2 on target (pens), 4 in all, Valencia also 1 on target out of 1 and Macheda's 1 attempt was blocked.

Putting three past the in-form team in the league doesn't suggest impotence.

No not in the end, the late changes did the trick. Helps when the opposition hand you two stonewall penalties too!

For the 80 minutes where Berbatov was up front alone, for all the possession, not a lot happened in front of goal. It's not a situation that works very well for us

I support Berbatov. He did well today, could have scored wasn't for that great block by the Tottenham defender. All he needs is his confidence back and the backing of the United fans.

Remember, Rooney was a "in the hole" player that was asked to play up top on his own initially (and was younger so had time to adapt) and was pretty poor tbh.

Berbatov plays sooo much better when he comes deep and can provide and has people running off him. and has the space to then follow in. Thats how he scored quite a few goals. I still think its mad to ask him to play on his own up top especially at home when we should be playing 4-4-2.

We were more impotent against Villa at home when Berbatov didn"t start. We created enough chances today, you missed parts of the game though, so you couldn"t know it.

Yup, I missed the first 20 odd of the second half. If he was utterly stunning during that period and we were irresistible in front of goal I apologise, I'm going off what I watched

Villa home was back in December, a rare poorer Rooney game this season, and Berbatov came on and did feck all to change the game. What an odd game to cite!
