How could Athletico sign him now? Thought they had a ban.

They could have, maybe they did. By all accounts this deal has been ongoing for a while now so maybe Chelsea were just biding their time. But us having Rooney to sweeten the deal probably increased Evertons desire to deal with us instead.

Will be interesting to see what he said.

Can you imagine the state of Costa if he takes 6 months off considering how he turned up for Joses final season at Chelsea?:lol:

He's a fecking gimp and he isn't a good enough player to justify / indulge in the baggage that'll come with him. Can't wait to see the back of the utter cnut.

-"no no, listen to me!"
-click

LOL. Just hope it doesn't happen to us on some of our muppet wishlists (mainly Fabinho). PSG has been used as a stalking horse to get us to move (when the usual PL suspects aren't interested), but they also have beaten us to the punch.

Concerning Costa, what a FUBAR. Conte must really despise him to send that text. Now everyone is stuck not knowing how to get out of this mess. Chelsea will have to eat a lot of money to get rid of, unless China miraculously gets back into megabuck transfers.

before the plastics did the damage limitation "excused" excuse...

It was Costa on the missing list at chelseas return to training this morning. I mean if he was really excused would there not be a some news before this informing incase it got all blown up into a nothing. Which it all did as we could of all guessed. So why not chelseas press office.

We'd all be fuming if he was our player though :nervous:

Chelsea can't take offense. They told him he's no wanted.

Um, I would assume him acting like an utter prick and constantly flirting with Atletico had something to do with it.
The China stuff in January was the end for Costa here. Conte was furious and never trusted him again after that.

Much as I loved his time here and as good as he was I have to admit that I won't really be sad when he goes at this point. More trouble than he's worth. If we sign Aubameyang, Belotti or someone in that class we'll quickly forget about Costa. Too temperamental and too much of a liability.

That's the crux of the issue. The only players that would get away with his behaviour, should be the absolute elite / irreplaceable ones. I'm not saying any players should get away with his antics, but an exception could be made If it were say Messi, Ronaldo etc. I think Costa is very replaceable and fwiw, I think you's will be a better team if you's get either Belotti or Auba.

Mentality is all part of the making of a great player and Costa's mentality is often a massive liability.

In the past two years he has been only been arsed for half a season. Chelsea will be better off without him.

Better off without a striker who's scored 52 goals in 89 apps? He has a phenomenal goal scoring record and if that's a half arsed attempt then I'd hate to see him when he can be arsed.

Many of these half arsed goals were winning goals as well he won Chelsea 15 points in the league last season..

Costa is severly underrated on here, just because he's a cnut. He's been one of the top strikers in the league since joining. It's not his fault if match officials are going to put up with his bullshit. A couple of sending off's would have more than likely fixed his on pitch attitude. In any case, I think he's entertaining. I love how he continuously mind f's his opponents and how they always fall for it.

He's a fantastic player, I agree. His first half of the season was huge for Chelsea winning the league. But... It's clear from his second half he had absolutely no desire to play for the club and at that level you simply cannot afford to carry a player like that. He has to go.

Will miss him, my favourite non-united player in the league. Wouldn't want him here though, which speaks volumes

If the below is true, Chelsea have other problems, obvious Fabregas is a (talented) snide-rat given the clubs he's been at, but putting this with some of his comments last year it can't be good for the manager/dressing room, and we do know their club has problems with player power.

'Costa is currently holidaying in Brazil and filmed himself on Instagram partying in a Rojiblancos shirt which prompted quite the reaction from his followers, including teammate Cesc Fabregas.

Club and country teammate Fabregas posted the laughing emoji in response before Costa replied saying: "Give Conte a hug".'

He is mental as feck. You never truly realise how good someone is until they leave or retire, same with this guy.

I hope Athletico manage to find a loophole in the transfer ban and sign him this year. Then Griezmann gets annoyed having pledged loyalty and then forces through a last minute transfer. I would feel so much better this year if we get him. Until window shuts then I will still believe we can do it

I really think that Conte made a big mistake here. Chelsea will be signigicantly weaker without Costa - even if they manage to bring in Aubameyang.

What an absolutely pathetic statement. He was told by Conte via text he wasn't wanted-big deal. It would suck but at least he knew where he stood.
Costa hasn't even requested a transfer yet so officially Chelsea are unaware of his desire to leave and don't need to facilitate it for him.
Ok the story leaked about the text but whose doing was that?
Chelsea then refused to comment publically or privately on the matter.-they are hardly going to have a chat with the Sun about it now are they?
Conte got a pay rise-what has this got to do with Costa.
Costa only wants to join Atletico-again boo hoo for him. I want to play for United but means nothing if they have no interest in buying me (or in the case of Atletico can't).

Just ridiculous.

This doesn't make any sense, since Costa text him and said he wasn't needed.

Conte telling Costa he wasnt needed isn't the same as Costa handing in an official transfer request.
You're right, in one scenario the manager doesn't want the player. In the other, the player doesn't want the club. I don't know why he'd need to hand a transfer request in when the manager has deemed him surplus to requirements.

If he went to Atletico he'd have to sit on the sidelines so why doesn't he just go on loan to another team and then sign for Atletico?

Exactly

I think Mourinho should put in a 20 mil bid for him. Back up in case Lukakaku gets injured or you could pair them in that 3-5-2 formation or 4-4-2. He's a prick but a beast of a centre forward.

Wouldn't even want him to a free. Vile scum.
