Did he really play for them?

Smith had a few good years at Newcastle before further injury. He was a holding midfielder by that point, so the lack of goals wasn’t really an issue.

Jose Mourinho, the player... at Rio Ave (his dad was the coach)

Played for Saints as well.
Peter Osgood also played for Saints and a fact I still find hard to believe Peter Shilton won more England caps when he was at Southampton than when at any other club!

Pretty sure Newcastle played him upfront, had likes of Nicky Butt, Emre and Barton for central midfield.

No he played most games in midfield, they had lovenkrands and carroll, he played ahead of Nicky Butt when fit, only dropped when guthrie came good

Ali Karimi at Bayern Munich.....

Landon Donovan was also there for a season wasn't he?
Donovan, famously not deemed good enough for FC Bayern II in the 4th league by super talent spotter and club legend Hermann Gerland (who spotted Kroos, Alaba, Müller, Lahm...)

speaking of Bayern:

Pepe Reina for Bayern
Alu Diarra for Bayern
Diego Armando Maradona for Bayern

Had no idea di canio had over 100 games for Juve and 30 for Charlton

Even though it was only a year or so ago I had completely forgotten about Higuain at Chelsea until his stint came up in a quiz the other day

Chelsea strikers are a weird category all of their own, with Pato in far a shout as the most weird one of recent times.

Louis Saha was at Spurs for six months right at end of his career.

Chicharito at Real Madrid. Saw him scoring that winner against Atleti

Had completely forgotten this phase in his career actually happened

There’s a few for Man City:
  • Schmeichal
  • Schmeichal Jnr
  • Andy Cole
  • George Weah (wtf!)
  • Patrick Viera
  • Frank Lampard
  • Owen Hargreaves
  • Jerome Boeteng
  • Maicon
  • Beardsley
  • Kanchelskis
  • Sylvinho

Cambiasso at Leicester. :)

What is really nice from that is he still wears his LCFC training top year's after playing for us.

Hitz was at West Ham when they went down in 10-11. Had no idea him or De La Pena were at Celtic (even on trial).

Dion Dublin also played for Celtic right at the end of his career. As did Roy Keane of course.

Watching Spurs 3-5 Man United last night, have to say Gus Poyet playing for Spurs completely passed me by.

Good one came up yesterday in the classic MOTD. Thomas Helveg playing for Norwich city in 04/05 season. Had no idea about that one, can only remember him at AC Milan.

Can't add a photo, but Gary Birtles provided one of my favourite Grimsby Town cameos.

As did Dave Beasant

And, until the infamous chicken wings incident, so did Ivano Bonetti

I cant post pictures ( dont know how ) George Best playing for Cork Celtic ,and Fulham with rodney Marsh . Damien Duff also came back and played in Ireland for Shamrock Rovers.

Yes, he did play with Marco Reus.

Pochettino was playing for Argentina in 2002 and committed the foul on Owen to concede the penalty, which Beckham converted.

Chicharito at Real Madrid
John Terry at Aston Villa
Charlie Adam at Liverpool
Harry Kane at Norwich City (loan)

I remember when AC Milan signed Kevin Prince Boatang and thinking "why the feck is a club as big as Milan signing this shite player from Pompey?". Then to my surprise, he actually did well there
