Television Dexter

Not hard considering how dire the 5th and 6th seasons were. Even in the last one, it went downhill pretty fast.

The seventh season started well but then it became ridiculous at times. Anyway it was much better than the fifth season and especially much better than the sixth who was one of the worst seasons I have ever seen in a TV Show. Absolute garbage.

Wait, season 7 has Yvonne Strahovski?

Thanks for the response all. Would I lose much if I just started from 7th season. From what I've heard, there is an incest angle in the show aswell, I really don't want to watch that.

Yes you'll be missing a LOT if you start from the 7th. The first 4 seasons are absolutely amazing and the 3 after that aren't a patch on the first four.

I watch this show, as I do with many others, while doing something else, e.g. eating lunch. Don't take time out of your day to watch as you'll feel like it's time well wasted. If it's on in the background though while you're doing something else it's not quite so bad.

Have I missed something or is it absolutely flat out retarded that there looks to be no serious interrogation of Dexter regarding La Guerta's death? How stupid would you actually have to be to not draw the connection between La Guerta's claims and La Guerta being killed by Dexter?

I thought that was going to be the main theme throughout the season with it eventually leading to Dexter going on the run about 6-8 episodes in.

It would be difficult not to show something like that if it was fitted into the series properly. You'd have thought it would've been one of the integral themes running through the season and the catalyst for him being found out.

Only a trailer, true, but I thought that was what was going to finally kick it all into motion. He was just chilling with everyone at La Guerta's funeral there as if nothing was untoward. I'm not one of these people who constantly slam on about how shit such and such a show is just to clarify, although that would probably be the tipping point in regards to Dexter. To avoid it all being completely retarded, everyone must surely suspect Dexter at this point.

"It solved all my problems..." :nervous:

Im looking forward to it but the story for the final season (going by the trailer) looks to be a bit shit. Not sure im that interested in watching a full season centered around Deb losing the plot.

Watched as far as the season finale where Deb caught him killing yer man. Wasn't impressed by that season at all, is it worth catching up?

I think that trailer was mainly about the first episode only. I seem to remember a Dexter trailer from one of the recent seasons and everything in that trailer was basically stuff from the first episode so hopefully it's the same. I think it'll be a good fun season.

Watch four first seasons, then watch 5 last minutes of the sixth season and then watch the seventh season with Yvonne.

Yeah, hope so. I'm going to keep watching it until it finishes either way...there is something about the uniqueness of the concept with Dexter that will always suck you in no matter what level it stoops to. Michael C. Hall will carry the show so long as he remains decent.

This talk sort of implies that this season won't be the last, but the way they said 'beginning of the end' makes me thing there will be more yet.

Started watching this a few weeks ago and just finished season 7. I do feel they should have kept Lumen around a bit longer, was a pretty weak way for her to leave. But that Yvonne Strahovski in season 7, well, she makes up for it.

Season 3 felt a bit pointless as it did nothing. He allowed himself to open up to someone, only to be backstabbed later but that didn't really give him any issues later on opening up when it should have I thought. Season 6 was a good idea in my opinion but just really poorly done, a mad religious killer should have been good.

Just caught up, surprised people thought season 7 was any good - in the end the whole season was pointless apart from the last episode. From the Isaac storyline, to the Quinn-Nadia one, the phantom bit - I don't think any of it had any baring on the final episode...

I'm catching up in time for the new season after I gave up on it half way through the last. It definitely picked up in the second half of the season, the Isaac stuff wasn't as drawn out as I thought it was going to be.

A week to go! I'm looking forward to seeing how they'll wrap it all up. Anybody have any theories on how they'll do it?

Wow, didn't know that it is so near. Yes, my theory is that Dexter will die in the end of the season.

How many complains will we have from Cina during this season? 10, 50, 500?

Don't think he'll get caught, but he'll get killed by someone. Let's be honest he should have been killed or caught many times already. Outpowering Doakes when he had his hands tied was unrealistic to say the least.

I don't see how they can end the show without him either dead or in jail. We know he can't stop killing, he tried doing that already and killing is part of him. So if they want to end the series, it can only be done properly by killing him off, or having him actually getting caught. I can see Dexter going out on his own terms in some way though, either sacrificing himself to save someone like deb or his kid, or handing himself in.

Are you going to spoil this with your knowledge from the books too, Revan?
There are dexter books?

Either he kills Debra, or attempts to and pulls out last minute. Maybe his son walks in on him killing somebody, but I'm not sure how that would come about.

He will question his true motives and be torn on his original decision to kill Debra..

I don't think he'll kill himself, I think they will point to it and have it leading that way but with a 'twist' at the end.

Perhaps Lumen will return to kill him?

I think a major interesting thing is Deb going into the final season. I could of possibly seen Dexter dying or even getting caught at the end and Harrison ending up with Deb, but that's all changed now after what Deb did at the end of the last season.

feck knows how they're going to end this.

There are dexter books?

Yes. The author is Jeff Lindsay and the TV show started off based on the first book, with a few changes and then went in a different direction. I've only read part of the first one but from what I've heard about the others, they're very different.

The books:
  1. Darkly Dreaming Dexter (2004)
  2. Dearly Devoted Dexter (2005)
  3. Dexter in the Dark (2007)
  4. Dexter by Design (2009)
  5. Dexter Is Delicious (2010)
  6. Double Dexter (2011)
  7. Dexter's Final Cut (2013)

There are dexter books?

Yeah, by Jeff Lindsey. I've read the first, and season 1 followed it mostly. It was a good read.

I got told that the book started to go in a different direction though, and started to focus on demons and what not. Admittedly, that's just what I've heard, but it was from people I trust and I never started the second book.

Here's a link to the Goodreads page for the first book.

A full circle thing could be used with his kid as well, though it is probable a bit young to pull that off properly at the moment.

Thanks Alock1 and Damien, I might look at reading the first book at least. Will see how I like the author and decide if I read beyond that I guess

I would think it'll end with Dexter going to prison and getting the death penalty after he is caught, most likely taking the blame for La Guerta's murder after Deb gets in trouble or something. I can see him sacrificing himself for her if theres no other way out

Those are some God awful titles.
